MISS COLD GAZE

It was the perfect opportunity for the desperate Oriel. "The cancer in my body is going to take me earlier from this world. All of this is the punishment I am getting for my sins. However, it looks like a blessing has been mistakenly delivered to me by the heavens, that's you," said the leader of a drug mafia gang, a victim of Oriel's charms. She also didn't think twice before accepting his proposal, more like an offer that was to get her immense fortune in return. "I will make sure that your remaining days will be filled with happiness." She promised the dying boss and agreed live as his mistress. She knew that he had a wife and that the relation only existed on a piece of paper. Her name was Ursula, feisty and savage spouse of the dying mafia leader, Mr. Bruce. "Let him have that young girl as a last token of joy in his numbered days. But, I want you to keep her in close scrutiny because she also has her eyes set on his wealth. See to it that she never gets what she wants." Heartbroken Ursula ordered Collin, the loyal brother of Mr. Bruce. He was appointed as a personal bodyguard for his boss's mistress, "I will be following you everywhere from now on, you will have to bear with me because your safety is now a matter of concern for my boss." Oriel refused his company with a stern denial. "Don't tell me that you are still awkward around me, it has been years," but who knew that they shared a tragic past and a passion so deep. "Take my everything in return of your love. Just never betray me, and if you do, be meticulous hiding it," reminded her of Mr.Bruce.

The V.I.P Patient

Oriel organised Bonnie's closet as the latter was treading back and forth in her room, waiting for her father to return and take her to the amusement park. She didn't leave the sight of the clock above her and couldn't sit still even for a moment.

"Why is he not coming?" she asked, pouting.

Oriel firmly shut the door of the closet and replied, "he must have gotten stuck with something urgent. Let's call him and find out."

She reached her phone, trying to appease the upset Bonnie. She dialed to her father and passed the phone to her. The call went forward but nobody answered it. Bonnie grew more upset and anxious. "I hate him."

"It's fine, he will be home soon." Oriel tried to convince her.

"Why don't you take me to the hospital?" requested Bonnie.

"Are you sick somewhere?" asked Oriel.

"I meant the hospital where my father works at. I want to go to him right now."

She started acting like the typical princess of a palace and made it hard on the maid Oriel to calm her down. "I can't take you there. You'll have to wait for him here."

Bonnie's lower lip started to wobble as she began to cry. Soon, little tears dropped from her eyes and her sobbing turned into weeping, and then loud crying. "I wanna go to daddy!"

"Bonnie! stop crying."

Oriel grabbed her favorite toys and tried to please her by showing them to her but the trick fell useless on her.

"Take me to him!" she cried.

Oriel exhausted every method to appease her and failed at each one of them. "Just why is this happening to me?" she thought. "Alright, I will take you to him," she abruptly agreed.

The stream of water stopped flowing from her eyes when she heard the affirmation from Oriel's mouth. She scrammed out of the house before Oriel could even put her shoes on. She was on a whim at the thought of going to the amusement park.

"Miss, has anybody ever told you that you walk like a snail?" she spoke.

"Yeah! somebody just did," replied Oriel.

The two got in a cab and went to the hospital in the downtown where tall buildings shaded their cab. The vehicle stopped at the gate of 'Nurture Hospital' and the one and a half lady duo stepped out of the car.

"I hope I won't get yelled at," wished Oriel, as she could see herself getting scolded by Bonnie's father.

"You don't have to worry about that, Miss. If someone is going to get yelled at, then it is my dad."

They entered the hospital building that was raised to the skies and took the elevator to go up. "Which floor is it? your dad's cabin?"

"It's eighth floor, the neurology department," told Bonnie.

Oriel pressed the button and the doors shut. As the little screen on the top of the elevator buttons, showed the eighth floor approaching, Oriel began to regret her decision of bringing Bonnie there. However, so rose the excitement of the little creature.

The two doors of the elevator parted at their advent on the eighth floor and a quick scene was caught by Oriel's eyes in which she saw a man with baffling resemblance to Mr. Bruce walking by. It happened so fast that by the time she could conjecture it, the man had already went inside a room.

"Miss, why are you standing there like that?" interrupted Bonnie, as she was trying to review that moment again in her mind.

"Umm... nothing. Let's go, where is it?" she asked, preventing the elevator doors from shutting until Bonnie walks out.

She walked through the corridors as if it was her home. The medical staff coming their way also welcomed the little guest.

"Is Dr. Bonnie here to meet daddy?"

"Yes, doctor Nancy, where can I find doctor Ian?" she asked.

Oriel stood near them, collecting a look from all four directions. "Did I see it wrong?" she asked herself.

"I'm sorry, but it seems like Dr. Bonnie will have to wait because Dr. Ian is busy with a V.I.P patient," told the assistant. "Have a seat there until he is done, okay?"

The assistant left after placing a kiss on Bonnie's cheeks. "Bye!"

She didn't seem pleased by the moist gift that she received and made faces as she wiped her cheeks till dry.

"I know where he is right now, then why should I wait?" demanded Bonnie.

Oriel snapped at her words and replied, "we're going to wait here, sweetheart. I am not listening to you even if you cry this time. It's a hospital and there are doctors who give painful shots. If you try anything funny then I am going to get you one of those."

Bonnie scoffed at the so called 'threat'. "Miss, I am not afraid of getting shots. I am the daughter of a doctor," she said. "Plus, can you please get me a glass of water?"

"Do you really want it or are you just going to disappear while I leave my place?" demanded Oriel.

"I won't go anywhere. I am so thirsty that I feel like passing out if I lift another step."

Oriel left her side for a few minutes and Bonnie got the opportunity to sneak inside the cabin of her father, while he was still attending a patient. "Miss, you are so simpleminded that even a six year old can fool you," she sung in pride, as she walked toward the cabin.

Suddenly, when the corridor diverged into two and she turned to her right, she found Oriel already standing in front of her, smirking. "Well, apparently, I am not that simple that puppies like you can fool me."

Bonnie lowered her head before her. "I'm sorry."

"It's fine. Now let's go and wait for your father."

Bonnie turned in the direction Oriel told her to and started walking, taking little steps with her head hanging downwards. Before the moment of pride could subside for Oriel, Bonnie instantly turned back and hurried toward her dad's cabin. Before Oriel could realize her trick, she was already gone due to her nimble feet. "Stop!"

Her agility led her in front of the door of the cabin and she managed to open it to a width of two inches, she could peek inside the cabin. Oriel was also quick to follow her and caught her with both hands, showing in front of her, a peek inside the cabin through the door ajar.

She could give credit to her eyes for being sharp as Mr. Bruce was actually sitting on the chair of the outpatients while Bonnie's dad buried his eyes in some reports.

Bonnie opened her mouth to call out to her dad but Oriel blocked it before any voice could depart her mouth. "Shhh!" she gestured.

"Is it that interesting?" asked Mr. Bruce, looking at the doctor reading his diagnosis. "How about reading Shakespeare instead of that?"

"It's not a time for such jokes, Bruce," spoke Dr. Ian. "You have cerebral aneurysm."

"I see. I wish I could pronounce it," jested Mr. Bruce.

"Its size has literally expanded to double since I last saw it."

"Oops! that's what she said."

Oriel removed her hand from Bonnie's mouth and she covered her ears with them. "Has this man lost his mind?" she thought to herself.

"It's time that we do something about it. Your aneurysm is at high risk of a rupture."

"You make it sound so serious but I feel nothing grave like that."

"You have got headaches, a blurry vision and it pains above your eyes. These symptoms will continue until it bursts. A rupture will cause internal bleeding that can cause death in eight out of ten cases."

"Woah! are you allowed to scare your patients like that? Doctors are supposed to be indirect about such things."
