Prologue

Pain. It was the only thing I knew at the moment. My whole body was burning up, my bones were being shuttered and smoke was finding its way to my lungs causing me to suffocate. At my last moments, I could hear a loud ringing noise and screams many screams, maybe a few sirens as well. Now that I think about it there is also a crushing weight on my body, I close my eyes and try to focus, it's a losing battle I know, but I wanted, no I needed to see, hear, if I was the only one that was fatally wounded, I hope so, after all, I was the cause of the explosion.

You're probably wondering what's going on and who I am. Let's start from the beginning, well not entirely from there, maybe skip a few years. My name is Katsuki Arcane and I'm or rather I was a twenty-one-year-old university student. My major was Robotics and I spent days inventing, sometimes I stayed in my lab for weeks, but I was utterly in love with science, so being almost friendless didn't bother me a lot.

There were many times when my older sister Julliet would come in and pull me from my ear away from the lab, it was painful but I could feel the love, the saying "love hurts" come to mind when I think about her. I lived a normal and good life, had loving and supporting parents, an older sister that beat me up and tried to make me social, an impossible feat, considering that for the best part of eighteen years I was friendless, by her own account at least, I mean I had friends even though they were robots. Even though I was antisocial and rather bland-looking I did have a few relationships, some were good, some not so much.

I graduated from high school at eighteen, started university made a friend, yeah in the spawn of four years I only made one friend, Carl, his major was engineering we started as lab partners and later became best friends. We worked on most of our projects together. Glad we didn't work together on this one.

And here comes the moment you were waiting for, the reveal of my death. As probably many of you have guessed it was a lab accident. I was experimenting on an energy amplifier; it was supposed to exponentially multiply the output of any power source. It would be revolutionary, if I hadn't messed up, a little mistake, a small miscalculation then we wouldn't be in this mess. It's a rather good thing that I stayed in the lab overnight, there were barely any people here, but still, there were, and thinking that I may be the cause of their possible death is anything but pleasant. I hope no one got hurt too much, one death is enough.

And then there is my family. Will they be, okay? Will they be able to move on? I know sis will but mom and dad... hopefully they will. As for Carl I know he'll be alright he may be an even bigger nerd than me but he's one of the strongest people I know.

And finally, with these thoughts in mind, I finally let go of the thread of life and welcomed the darkness.

Or so I thought, there was a moment of euphoria, freedom then I felt as a prisoner once again, a prisoner of life. I opened my eyes I could barely see, almost everything was a huge blur, then there was this noise was a baby crying? Then the crying started to stop that's when I saw her, she was a beautiful woman with long black hair and grey eyes.

"Look at you, you're so beautiful. Haruto, look he got your eyes" the woman said. Her voice was soft yet strong, if I had to describe it with one word then it would be silk.

"Hey, there little man" said a man as he slowly came to my field of vision, his voice was just like the woman's strong yet gentle "Hikari he's perfect"

"Of course, he is, he is MY son after all" she said to the man who tickle lightly my tummy making me giggle a little bit, despite being a full-grown man, or well infant I suppose.

"He has your laugh sweetheart" the man Haruto said with a gentle smile. "Welcome to the family Shiki"
