"Spider-Man?"

Noticing the arrival of the little spider under the goblin mask, Norman Osborn's expression looked surprised for a moment. But it suddenly turned to excitement, "Ahahahahaha, you're just in time, Spider-Man. I had a hard time looking for you, I never thought you'd come out on your own."

Norman laughed as he grabbed a pumpkin bomb and threw it at Spider-Man.

"I've always loved helping people..."

While muttering something back, Peter raised his wrist.

In the next second, a special liquid spewed from the spider launcher; it quickly formed a sticky spider web that wrapped around the incoming bladed pumpkin bomb and pushed it back towards the Green Goblin.

"What?!"

Norman's face turned green at the sight of the pumpkin bomb flying back toward him.

"You're not the only one who upgraded your equipment." Hearing the Green Goblin's surprised tone, a smug smile appeared on Peter's boyish face. He couldn't help but blurt out, "I've done some modifying myself."

Ever since his chance encounter with Tony in front of Shell's food truck, the little spider followed his advice and modified his spider web launcher. He finally completed the upgrade not too long ago. The spider web launcher 2.0 ejected spider webbing like before, but it also had a sticky spider web option, like the one he was using right now. It had a greater ability to restrain enemies.

Bang, bang --

The spider web clung to the pumpkin bomb and stuck itself to the Green Goblin's body. In the next moment, the pumpkin bomb produced a large shockwave accompanied by a powerful blast of fire.

Clatter --

Pushing away rocks and debris from his body, Green Goblin stood back up. The superhuman physique granted by the inferior Super Soldier serum and the powerful defence of the Green Goblin's armour saved Norman from the blast.

As he turned his head, he noticed that Eddie and the young spider had long disappeared.

Under the evil-looking mask, Norman's expression suddenly twisted.

"Spider-Man!!"

Holding the spider web in one hand and swinging past New York's skyscrapers, the little spider leapt towards one of the roofs.

"Alright, Mr Brock, you're safe now."

He gently lowered Eddie from his arm, putting him down.

In the next second, the young spider left Eddie's side with a dexterous back flip, keeping a safe distance.

He hadn't forgotten the fact that the other man, in the form of a black monster, had wrapped itself around his head and nearly swallowed him.

"Thank you, Spider-Man. You saved my life again."

Steadying his footing on the roof, Eddie shook his head with an uncomfortable expression. He turned and thanked Spidey, who stood not too far away.

"You're welcome, Mr Brock. It's all part of the job." With a wave, the little spider replied modestly.

Looking at Eddie, he hesitated but still couldn't help asking, "Mr Brock, what happened before? How did you become ..."

"Venom. It told me its name."

Eddie Brock spoke up, giving him a bit of information.

"Venom...? "

Repeating the name, Peter had a strange feeling about it.

Shaking his head, Spider-Man continued to question, "How did you become Venom? "

"I'm not sure, my memory has been a bit fuzzy since I woke up that day." Covering his head, he made a pained expression. Trying to remember, he then said, "All I could remember is that... I failed an interview and left the publishing office. Then, I lost consciousness. When I came to, I was inside a room that looked like a laboratory."

"Laboratory?"

Eddie's words caused Peter's expression to harden beneath the mask.

The presence of a laboratory meant that Eddie's change wasn't an accident but the result of a deliberate attempt by someone.

On the other side, Eddie held his head in pain as he recounted his ordeal.

"After that, my memory has been hazy. I vaguely remember that every day, someone would inject something into me. Some days it was cold, and some days it was hot. Sometimes, people similar to me would appear in the lab. They were as confused and afraid as I was and subjected to various experiments. Some of them would stay, some would be wheeled out and just ... disappear ..."

'They're conducting human experiments!'

Listening to Eddie's account, the young spider clenched his fists. Anger surfaced on his face.

"... I don't know how long it took. I was taken out of the lab and into another new lab, where I heard the name 'Dr. Chen' from a researcher."

"Dr Chen?" After hearing a name he had never heard before, Spidey was keenly aware that this should be a key player in turning the other party into Venom and hastened to ask, "Mr Brock, have you seen what this Dr Chen looks like?"

"No." Eddie shook his head as he replied. His answer disappointed Peter.

"According to the researchers, Dr Chen seems like a very important person. He's in charge of far more important experiments ..."

"Far more important experiments?!"

Eddie's words made the little spider's hair stand on end. The spider-sense in his body instinctively reacted to the tension.

'Venom was such a terrifying monster. But, it wasn't the focus of their research??!'

"Then, a few days later, the researchers suddenly brought a transparent glass jar filled with black liquid into the laboratory. It seemed like they intended to carry out some kind of experiment on me. However, the results of the experiment seem to be somewhat beyond their imagination ..."

'Makes sense...'

Hearing Eddie's words, the young spider nodded.

Venom's existence was indeed beyond normal human expectations.

"And what else, Mr Brock? Do you remember anything a bit more detailed?"

"More detailed..." Frowning, Eddie Brock recalled with a pained look on his face before replying in a slightly uncertain tone, "All I remember is that in the process of becoming Venom and escaping, I think I saw a red and white octagonal logo somewhere in the lab.... it's looked like ... an umbrella!"
