Chapter 56: Beings of power.

***Narrative P.O.V.

"It's gone," Gwen muttered in surprise.

"Gone what?" Ben asked as he looked at Kar-el in curiosity. 

"All that mana radiating from him a few seconds ago. Not a single trace of it now." Gwen elaborated glancing at Paradox. 

"Kryptonians are known for their extreme control. Now that he is conscious, it is a given that what was leaking before would not show up now." Paradox told them while urging them to get out. 

"Which universe is this?" Kar-el was listening to them once he woke up and realized that the man in the lab coat knows of his kind. 

"We do not have any official number assigned right now, your grace but this young man might help you identify where you are right now." Paradox bowed his head once he got out before pointing at Ben. 

"He is the Nexus being of this universe." Paradox explained as others arrived near them. 

"Nexus being?" Ben asked in confusion pointing to himself. 

"Nexus being is a being that carries a lot of leeway on the universe they belong to. Capable of altering the very nature of the world they reside in." Kar-el answered his question. 

"Though a being that creates a new time branch in the time tree is also known as a Nexus being." He added further. 

"Anyone could potentially be the originator of a new time branch but true nexus beings could easily be counted on fingers in a particular universe." Paradox provided further information. 

"Just when I thought he had enough responsibilities to take care of, I learned that he is now a nexus being. He can't even take care of basic things, why do we add more things to the list? " Kevin complained causing Julie to giggle and Ben to whine. 

Meanwhile, Kar-el was staring at Gwen with a sense of wonder. 

"A being made up entirely of life force. 

" Kar-el spoke while watching Gwen's true form hidden behind her mortal body. 

"You are seeing my true body" Gwen's eyes widened. 

"Can I ask you something?" Gwen requested after some hesitation. 

"Yes?" Kar-el tilted his head.

"Professor referred to you as a Kryptonian and while you were unconscious, you were affecting the mana. I was wondering if Kryptonians and Anodites are related somehow." 

"My grandmother is the only other knowledgeable anodite I know and she told me that we are the only species capable of using mana or life force as you call it."

Gwen had learned from her grandmother that for her to master her powers, it would take decades, and for it, she have to leave earth with her. 

Seeing him manipulating mana so easily and at a much greater scale, than her grandmother demonstrated to her, she hoped that maybe there could be another way. 

"Kryptonians are not capable of using mana under normal circumstances. My mastery over it is because of me being one of the abstracts."

Kar-el words worked as water over a campfire and Gwen adopted a disappointed face. 

"What are aspects? Is that another alien race? When I tried to scan you with my ultimatrix, it failed because there was multiple alien DNA present during the scan."

Ben joined the conversation still not able to access his transformations. 

"Abstracts as in abstract entities." Paradox patted Ben on his shoulder. 

"Entities that are the physical embodiment of certain aspects of the Omniverse. They reign supreme over their domains." Everyone stared at Kar-el as Paradox explained who they were talking to. 

"Does that mean you are the embodiment of mana since you were affecting it?" Kevin guessed.

"No, the one standing before us is the embodiment of Law." Paradox told in a respectful tone. 

"Though I am familiar with the originator of anodite species," Kar-el added glancing at Gwen to the great shock of everyone present including paradox.

"The young lady carries her spark inside of her."

"The anodite spark?" Gwen softly muttered. 

"Is that you call it? The correct term to refer to it would be the Phoenix spark." Kar-el muttered glancing at the stars.

"The spark inside you comes from the Phoenix force, the originator and supreme sovereign of life force. "

"The Big Bang, Chaos-Bringer, Cosmic Firebird, Devil Bird, "The-End-Of-All-That-Is" "the evil, omnipotent firebird" Miz Destiny, Phoenix, Ravager of Worlds, Starchild, Thunderbird, Void Falcon, White Phoenix of the Crown, World Destroyer are few of her aliases. " 

"That's a few?" Kevin asked in a sarcastic voice. 

Kar-el ignored him in favor of focusing on the route they came from. 

The Knights have returned and with more tanks in tow. 

"Who are these people?" Kar-el asked since he received a report from his suit telling him what happened while he was unconscious. 

"The forever knights" Ben replied with a sour mouth. 

" They were once a very honorable group that protected this planet from otherworldly dangers but now they have long since fallen from grace and become notorious for making every alien's life hard on earth," Kevin replied while preparing to defend their group by absorbing the metal from his car.

Kevin then took lead to engage the knights in close quarters by running toward them as they fired energy beams at them. 

Gwen put up a mana barrier to protect them from incoming shots. 

There were at least 50 to 60 knights present on their feet and 8 tanks. 

"I could use some help here," Kevin screamed from afar. 

"I'm trying but it's not working," Ben screamed back still fidgeting with his watch. 

"Ugh" Gwen grunted feeling the weight of continuous assault on her shield.

"Let me help." Kar-el stepped forward casually stepping outside of the mana barrier.

"It won't work, Ben. Your watch will remain this way until you let it record the unknown DNA. Let's just enjoy the show. There is no need for you to transform." Paradox advised calming Ben's nerves.

"I can't seem to be able to scan him though." Ben frowned in displeasure. 

"That's because you are scanning two life forms at once. The suit he is wearing is an independent life form on its own just like your alien transformation Upgrade. It's a symbiotic being artificially created just like Azmath created Galvin Mechamorphs." Paradox explained.

"Just wait for some time. They will separate sometime later. You should scan them then." Paradox told him as they focused on the battle.

Kar-el calmly floated upwards as he advanced. As he looked upon the knights and their tanks, the gravity upon them increased. 

The tanks got buried 3 feet under the ground while knights got on their knees due to gravitational pressure applied to them. They all became immobile and became sitting targets.

Kevin smiled broadly and tried to take advantage of the sudden change on the battlefield. 

"Step back. We need to equal our scores from before." Kar-el spoke aloud causing Kevin to stop attacking the immobile knights and glanced upwards at him. 

He hesitated for a few seconds before he step back beside Gwen. 

"Knights. Focus all your fire on the unknown alien." The Captain shouted angrily and his order was swiftly followed.

All foot soldiers and tanks aimed their weapons at Kar-el before bombarding him. 

Time slowed down for Kar-el as his reaction speed made everything move at a snail's pace.

Kar-el raised an eyebrow and raised his right hand and snapped his fingers and in front of every attack coming his way, a portal opened that absorbed the attack. 

It all transpired in a section of a second. 

Once all the attacks were absorbed, the portals closed, and in Kar-el's right hand was an enclosed ball of mirror dimension that contained all the attacks in a compressed form. 

He glanced at it before lowering his hand as the ball floated beside him and slowly circled him. 

"Woah, did you see that Gwen?" Ben excitedly asked. 

" Yeah, I did and right now I'm doubting all the magic tombs that I read until now. You have no idea what he did. It takes all of my concentration to create a teleportation portal and he accomplished just that with a snap of his finger." Gwen grumbled.

"And not just any normal portals. Portals to an enclosed dimension that he created out of thin air." She flailed her arms around. 

Meanwhile, Kar-el took the fight to close range as he turned into a blur that hit one of the tanks in the front. The front of the tank became flat under his feet and the backside got raised into the air like a seesaw. 

He then used both his hands to rip apart the tank into two pieces like ripping a piece of paper. 

The other knights didn't stay idle as they kept firing at him but whenever an energy blast reached a 1-meter distance to him, a portal would open that would absorb the attack. 

"He's fast" Kevin commented. 

"And strong" Ben added in awe with stars in his eyes. 

"Kryptonians are one of the crown jewels of evolution right beside Saiyans, anodite, Naljian and celestial sapiens. They are part of a group that is known for their limitless potential." Paradox told them. 

"Under the right circumstances, a Kryptonian is capable of shattering entire universes with just their raw physical strength, flying out of infinity." He added to the praise. 

"Thank God they aren't part of our universe." He said as an afterthought. 

"What circumstance?" Kevin asked as he glanced at Kar-el who was demolishing the knights left and right to the complete despair of the knights.

"Under the presence of the right star for the right amount of time." Paradox replied checking his pocket watch and then glancing at the night sky. 

And as you have it, just then a dozen giant robots teleported from space into the battlefield. 

"Synthroid grunts" Gwen muttered with a voice laid with venom. 

"Get ready, Ben.  It's about time." Paradox whispered. 

Kar-el let the knights carry their comrades and flee as his attention was shifted to the robots.

"Bing bing. Target found. Scanning target for possible weakness" The front robot scanned Kar-el before focusing on his suit. 

"Cybernetic lifeform detected. Weakness found, acting as commanded." The robot coordinated with others and released a wave of signals at Kar-el. 

He could have dodged it but he was curious about what it does so Kar-el let it hit him. 

Affected by the waves, his suit malfunctioned and broke down into individual cells as they fell into the surface leaving Kar-el in full-body spandex. 

Kar-el looked downwards at the individual cells that were struggling to join themselves with one another before he raised his head to look at the group of robots.

His eyes glanced sideways at the ball rotating around him before he once again snapped his fingers.

All around the robots, portals opened in the air aiming at them that fired all the shots fired at Kar-el by the knights contained in the ball floating around him. 

Meanwhile, Ben aimed his watch at both Kar-el and the suit and scanned them. 

An individual portal opened a few meters away from which the charm caster, her uncle, and Darkstar emerged. 

*Scanning process completed* 

*Establishing new DNA as Kryptonian and cybernetic symbiote* 

*Creating ultimate forms of new species* 

*Ultimate Cybernetic symbiotic created* 

*Error, Error. Creation of ultimate Kryptonian not achieved* 

*Error, Error. The scanned Kryptonian displays the potential to be the ultimate Kryptonian* 

*Setting scanned Kryptonian as ultimate Kryptonian* 

*Error- - process failed to be completed.* 

*Error- - detected other DNA signatures that do not possess ultimate forms.* 

*Creating ultimate forms for Naljian, celestial Sapien, and Kryptonian*

*Error- - the task cannot be fulfilled.* 

*Error, ultimate forms of aliens are acting unsupervised. Error— Error E.R.R.O.R. %#!$¶* 

"What is happening to it?" Ben shook his watch, which kept changing colors from yellow to red and green, then finally it quieted down. 

"Feew~" Ben sighed in relief once it resumed its original green color.

"Umm… Ben. Look behind you." Kevin nervously remarked and Gwen was looking behind him with grave seriousness. 

Ben looked behind him to find all of the ultimate forms that he took standing behind him, staring at him with murderous intent. 

Ultimate big chill, ultimate humangasour, and ultimate heat blast were at the forefront but the biggest of them was standing in the last, and yet it couldn't be hidden. 

Ultimate way big. 

"Gulp~" Kevin gulped while Ben quickly pulled up his watch and clicked on the alien that had the greatest chance of surviving this fallout.
