Love At First Gaze

The first time was a coincidence. Second time could be called good timing. Third time is destiny. The first time they met, they were both cosplaying at an Anime Convention. Coincidentally, she was Usagi Tsukino, and he happened to be Tuxedo Mask from the anime, Sailor Moon. Their first gaze caught his attention. Her first smile swept his heart away. She walked towards him, and he was ready to take off the mask to talk to her. Unfortunately, it was all a misunderstanding. This was their first time crossing paths, but he facepalmed so hard when he realized he got the wrong idea that he changed his "Hi," into an anime's title, "Hitman Reborn." At that time, he watched her approach another person who acted as Tuxedo Mask behind him. The smile she had on her face wasn't towards him. It was a mistake. Two months later Second time they met was at their graduation. His brother, Lucas, flew back from overseas to attend his graduation in place of his parents. After taking countless pictures with his brother and some with friends, they left campus. Inside his black Mercedes, his brother shoved several well taken photos and showed it to him. Just when he was about to answer his regular plain response, the words swallowed back down his throat. He held his brother's phone and zoomed in to the back where he saw her again! Once again, a facepalm landed on his face as he couldn't believe that there could be such timing. He could've gotten her name! After a few days later, he got off his shift late and realized that he didn't go grocery shopping. Since his fridge was empty, he decided to have his meal at a newly opened Szechuan Spicy Bowl restaurant. "It shouldn't take that long to get a seat at this time.." Or so he thought. When he got there, the place was full and he didn't have much patience since he was alone. Right when he was about to leave, the waiter asked if he minded sharing a table. "Sure." He sat down across from the girl and ordered from the menu. When she took a few napkins to wipe her nose, he took the chance to thank her for sharing the table. And there she was with her Beyond Human level spicy bowl... Although they only exchanged a few words, he found her very interesting. A girl eating at this hour without caring about her weight and her surrounding. She was adorable. The clumsy her forgot her newly printed business cards at her seat when she left. "Lily Jiang," he smiled. He thought of bringing this to her when he is free, but who knew that they would meet again at the hospital? His lips twitched when he faced his new patient, "Hello, Miss. Jiang, I am Lin Que, your doctor for this visit. Where do you feel uncomfortable?" He looked at the medical report in hand as he couldn't believe his luck with this girl.

I Changed My Mind

Due to traffic conditions, they arrived at the airport around 11:30 P.M. Luckily they left the apartment early. If not, they may be stuck in traffic and end up late for the flight. Time passed by quicker than usual. Eventually, Toby's flight was being called in the announcement. Lily and Ginny gave Toby one last hug before separating from her.

"Take care all of you." Toby waved as if she was reluctant to leave.

The three of them stayed until Toby's figure disappeared from their sight. On their way back, Ginny and Lily talked in the backseat about the upcoming party. From her purse, Ginny took out a card and handed it to Lily.

"Here. I almost forgot about this. Auntie said you would probably save money and not buy any gowns for the party." Passing the black card to Lily's hand, Ginny elbowed her and winked.

"Correct. I never wanted to attend to begin with, so why would I bother dressing up for it? Besides, a simple dress is more than enough to beat Meng Meng. I don't care about it enough to spend time on dolling myself up." She stared at the card with a frown on her face.

"Wrong! First of all, Auntie didn't give you the card to make you use it. She already used it for you. Your gown is ready and waiting for you at the store. This is used to confirm your identity when you pick up the gown." Ginny raised her index finger as she continued speaking.

Lifting a second finger, she said, "Second of all, you don't doll up enough. Have you heard the nasty rumors circulating in the social group? Meng Meng has gone overboard with spreading rumors about you. Auntie wants you to stand up and clear your name. So, I've already sent a file to your email."

Raising another finger, she smiled and said, "Third of all, our Lily is much better looking than Meng Meng. I bet you wouldn't recognize her even if you saw her now. She became a plastic surgery addict and literally makes a change according to the trend. You need to make a good show for that day."

Seeing Ginny's earnest, glitter eyes, Lily sighed and placed the card in her wallet. She looked at Ginny again and said, "I knew mom disliked those rumors a lot. Even though I could care less about those rotten mouths out there, I do care about about how she feels. I'll do what she wants me to do depending on what happens at the party."

Eavesdropping from the driver's seat, Lin Que was curious about the rumors they were talking about. He took up some courage and asked, "What rumors are you guys talking about?"

Lily didn't want to talk about it that much since these were negative news. Although she had no interest in how others' brain functioned when making up these false accusations, she did care about how her boyfriend would see her. Ginny crossed her arms and let out a loud hmph.

Furious by the spread rumors, Ginny started blabbing her rage that started from years back. "Our Lily was hit on at one of the parties and she politely rejected that son of a gun. Excuse my language, but that immature infertile bastard decided to pursue her by proposing a family marriage. Of course, they got rejected with a big-fat hell no from Lily's parents."

"Since he was rejected for like five times straight, he couldn't stand the drop in his nonexistent pride. Nevertheless, he started the rumor about Lily being a lesbian. Though he began the rumor, Meng Meng was the one who confirmed it in a WeChat group with the socialites. Since then, she's been spreading many fake news regarding Lily to gain popularity."

While Ginny was ranting, they didn't notice Lin Que's vehicle slowing down and eventually running the minimum speed as he listened attentively. His hands tightened on the steering wheel as he learned more about this upcoming party. From the front seat, the wicked smirk on his face could not be seen by the two girls in the back.

Using the short ride to Ginny's place, he swore he had to get as much information as he could from her. From Lily's expression, she didn't seem like she wanted to tell him about it. His calm, steady voice was oddly pressuring as he asked, "What other rumors did her cousin spread?"

Upon hearing his question, ignited flames could be seen in Ginny's eyes as she almost scratched the leather of the backseat with her nails. "Talking about this bitch! She dared to call our Lily a shemale. She said Lily had plastic surgery to get her looks for sugar mommies and daddies. Hah, she's only jealous about our Lily looking much prettier than her!"

"Even before Meng Meng's surgery, her face could never match up to Lily's. After the surgeries, she looks more like a witch than human. She only liked flaunting her parents' wealth." Ginny wanted to say more, but Lily interrupted her words.

"Ahem. Stop comparing her and me together." Lily said as she didn't want to deal with such toxic family members.

Seeing the flight frown on her face, Lin Que said, "Right, because there's nothing for Lily to compare to."

It took Lily a minute to understand the meaning behind his words. Meanwhile, Ginny let out a laugh and said, "True. True. There's nothing Meng Meng has to use for comparison. Hahaha, I wish she could hear you say it to her face. That'll be hilarious."

"There's always a chance in the future. Who knows? Maybe we'll meet sooner than expected." He said as he kept his eyes on the road.

Lily smiled, "Oh? I'm only planning to introduce you to my family. Sorry to disappoint, but she's not part of it. Her parents aren't either." She crossed her arms and relaxed as she thought of what he said.

Ginny clapped her hands together, "Just you two holding hands and walking past her would be enough to knock her off eighteen blocks. Hahahahaha! I can't wait for that day to come. Sigh! Anyways, don't forget to go to the store and try on the outfit. I'll go with you when you discharge."

"Ah, right. When can I leave the hospital?" Lily asked to confirm it with Lin Que.

"Tomorrow." He replied and continued driving.

Scratching the side of her head, she thought to herself. 'Tomorrow? What happened to Wednesday? Is he letting me out early?'

Seeing her confused expression, he added, "I changed my mind. You'll need time to prepare for the party."
