Chapter 9: 10 years after

It's been 10 years since then, The Attack of the Descendants of Tyros. Specifically Thesal of Duniir and Asmon of Monoren. My mother's brother. According to Father, Uncle Vard got the information from his "Owl" that the attack was all for the revenge for my mother. I also got the information that Uncle Ythran of Vernen and Uncle Hython of Vanaros commited treason against the Southern Country. My Uncle Kazim of Roveren helped out by sending portions for the townspeople of Sydonia. It's been years and I haven't seen Erden since then. Big brother Estann said that Erden and the other White knights stayed on Sydonia to fight off the enemies. There was a soft knock on the door and creaked open

" Ari, your father and Uncle wants to see you"

Estann said softly. Estann and Marika took care of me for the time I stayed here. Cabel visits once or twice every two weeks. He stays here with Uncle Legos for 3 days. Estann escorted me to where Father and Uncle is.

"Ariadna, you're here."

Father said. He came to me and hugged me.

"Ariadna, we called you here to ask you what do you want for your debut".

Uncle Vard asked. Debut? Oh yes. I almost forgot, here in Navania ladies who celebrates their 16th is their societal debut.

"As your Uncle, I want you to celebrate and to enjoy your day. You can celebrate your debutant here at the castle's ballroom"

"Yes, and we will be inviting some of our relatives and including your grandfather to the ball"

Uncle Vard and Father insisted. I really want to celebrate my debut. So I confidently said

"I want it to be a masquerade ball"

"Okay, then let's plan for your dress and your escort"

" I volunteer to be Ari's escort"

Estann raised his hand and shouted.

"It depends on Ariadna if she wants you to be her escort. It means everything to a lady to choose her escort because they'll be leading the first dance"

Uncle Vard replied. Estann looked sad, He looked at me and walked towards me and held my hands

"Please Ari, Let me be your escort"

"I respectfully refuse your offer, I want to think about it myself. Its still 5 days to go there's no rush right?"

But I don't want him to be my escort. I hope I didn't hurt his feelings.

"That's right, it's still a long time. let her choose her own escort"

Uncle Vard said. The atmosphere turned so awkward. Estann clicked his tongue

"Im going out."

Estann quickly left. He really sounds angry.

" Uncle Vard..Estann.."

"I know, I'll talk to him later, lets just let him be. He was just excited for your debut".

I was about to finish my sentence but Uncle cut me off. Uncle quckly left to chase after him. I sat down on the sofa and Father followed and sat beside me. He looked at me and sighed

"Im sorry if we're living this way. For these past years I know its been hard for you. Different atmosphere, different place with different people. But still, since that day I came to realize I was just a coward who ran away leaving my men behind and never got any news from them over these years."

Father said as he gets teary eyed. I sat nearer to him and hugged him for comfort. To stop him from making such drama.

"Father, Its been almost 10 years and I have already adjusted. I can't deny that I miss Sydonia but Im happy that we're safe. And, you are no coward Father you prioritized first the safety of your people that's why they are all still alive up to this day you never abandoned anyone. You just did it for the safety of everyone."

I said while hugging him. I know my Father could be like a Demon in the battlefield but seriously he is just like a child.
