"Humans can move a bit even when in coma." The doctor shuffled from feet to feet. My grip on his collar does not loosened as my eyes stay glued to the still body of the human.

"So what you are saying is, he is still in that sleep like state you talked about?" I refuse to believe what I was hearing, I could not believe it. He moved, I saw his fingers twitch.

Erin pried my fingers from the collar of the doctor, but I don't look at him. My eyes roaming the entire body of the human, waiting for an indication that he was okay.

"Let's talk elsewhere." Erin said to the doctor, mainly for my benefit, he didn't want anybody else knowing the human was my mate.

"You can go in and see him for yourself." Erin tells me before disappearing from the hallway, following the doctor who could not wait to leave my side. Leaving me alone with the human, there was only a door separating us but it felt like a hundred miles. I did not want to go in and see that he could not open his eyes. I could not bring myself to face him, after all this happened because I brought him to the pack grounds, if he was in his human world, far and safe from us, it would have been so much better.

My heart felt like someone had put their hand right through my chest cavity and ripped it out. It hurt so much that I felt tears sting the corners of my eyes. I turn my back against the door, the shame and guilt too over powering to keep looking at his face.

"Let's go see him." Grace ordered.

I shake my head even though I know she cannot hear me.

"We can't Grace. It is because of us that he is in this mess right now."

"We have to see if he is okay." She tried again.

"The doctor said he is in some sort of coma. He is not okay, and it is our fault for bringing him into the danger zone."

"We need to see him." She sounded desperate now. I could feel her pacing up and down in my head.

"Grace.."

"Please Millie." She pleaded again, her voice sounded broken and i am very much ashamed to say that it was not her pleading that made me turn back to the door. It was not her pleading that had me sliding the door open, removing the only thing that kept us apart. It was not her pleading, it was me, I desperately wanted to see him.

My heart thrashed mercilessly around in my rib cage at the sight of him. I never really noticed how beautiful he was, maybe I did notice, but I did not want to admit It, even to myself. Even all the from the door I saw It, even with the tubes running in and out of his mouth, he was still very much beautiful.

His skin was a rich golden colour, like he spent a healthy amount of time under the sun. His eyes were shut and his lashes fanned out to his cheeks. His chest, very muscular I must add, rose up and down in rhythmic patterns.

I almost break out into a loud sob, my hand snaked it's way up to my mouth to prevent it from coming out. I did this, the boy was here broken, laying on a sick bed, miles away from home, his loved ones searching for him day and night—they will never find him if he ends up dying on this hospital bed. Simply because I wanted the corona. I want to scream, I want to smash everything I laid my eyes on, more importantly, I want to ask the moon goddess why? Why me? Why him? Why?

"I told the doctor to arrange his things, he left to go pack up. He will be the only one attending to him." Erin spoke fast like he wanted to get the words out.

I realize then that I was still at the door, even if the door was already open now. I still had not stepped in.

"I also asked for guards, a trope—hand picked by me, will be coming in soon. Nobody will get to him without our notice."

He turned me to face him, my vision of him was blurry for some reason. He reached down to my face and wiped, that's when I know that I had been crying. If it were any other person, I would be embarrassed but it was Erin, my best friend, I couldn't be embarrassed if I tried.

"I would like to stay here and watch over him myself. Unfortunately, I have to find who did this." My voice surprisingly strong.

"I can handle finding them. You can stay here to look after him." He doesn't mention the fact that I was crying. If only the moon goddess was smart enough to make him my mate, there's no better man than Erin.

"That would mean a lot to me Erin."

He doesn't say anything back, he doesn't have to, we would do anything for each other, after all, we were kind of siblings.

"Did the doctor say anything?" I question. Only managing to spare a glance at the still form of my mate.

"Asides the fact that it is a really surprising fact that he is still alive? Not much."

"Surprising? Why?" I frown.

Erin gave me a look that made me know that a bit of my overprotective side must have come out to play.

" Surprising because of the strength they must have used to suffocate him. They were rogues but he is human. On the power scale they are still much stronger than he is." Erin explained himself in a whisper that I could only pick up because of my enhanced hearing.

I did not think about that. Maybe the moon goddess helped? I had to talk with her soonest.

"Why are you whispering?" I don't bother whispering my question.

Erin blinked.

"Humans might be able to hear even in the state of comatose. He might hear something he isn't supposed to."

My mouth formed an O shape. I did not even know that.

"Well. The trope should be here any minute. And I do have to go find whoever did this. Do you need anything before I leave?"

Thoughtful Erin. Caring Erin. Moon goddess can you see you made a huge mistake?

"If I do need something, I won't hesitate to find you for it."

He gave me a small smile, spared my mate a glance before walking away. Right down the hallway he zoomed off. He really didn't want the human to hear him.

When I turn to face the human, I almost faint from the shock.

He sat up, staring at me with a shit eating grin.
