It was the peak of summer in New Moon city; as a result, piercing sunlight and stinging heat fell upon the city's denizens. The summer heat caused the latrine pits all over the city to fester and stink. Covering the city in a thick blanket of smelly fumes.
But as a certain group of people made their way through the streets with a palanquin mounted on their shoulders and skinny horse pulling a wagon behind them, the thick smell of blood wafting from the vehicle was so overpowering, it cut through the stench and made more than a few practitioners look over.
The group appeared to be servants taking their master out to explore the city so they were left alone. But why such a think scent of blood? Not just any blood- it was human.
The smell eventually prompted an armoured member of the city guard to approach the group. As one of New Moon City's finest he was a high leveled true profound realm practitioner!
"Stop there! What's inside this wagon!" He shouted as he approached.
The group of men stood there feeling a bit nervous. Even with their lord Orochi Maru with them. They were all wanted criminals who ran away to the eastern slums after committing various crimes against their Clans, Sects or the city law. They're faces were definitely drawn and posted throughout the city.
However the Guard didn't notice them for some reason and went straight for the bloody vehicle. He lifted the cloth covering only to see the shocking sight of several pairs of dead eyes staring at him!
Severed bloodied heads!
"W- What is this! Why are there so many heads here!" The guard shouted at the men; his profound aura billowing out while his hand reached for his sword. His aura proved too strong even for the vicious criminals of the eastern slums.
Thankfully, their lord Orochi Maru saved them by jumping from his palanquine. His pale form didn't waver the slightest under the city guards pressure.
"These are the proof of identification on a number of bounties." The soft voice and delicate features of Orochi Maru worked well in diffusing the situation.
"You caught and killed all these criminals?" The City guard retracted his powerful aura but still kept his hand firmly on his weapon's hilt.
"Yes sir guard. I was just taking them to the governor's office to verify them."
"If that's the case then I'll need to go with you as well." The guard unclasped his sword but seemed determined to verify Orochi Maru's claims.
And so the group made their way over to the governor's administrative office to verify the identity of the heads. To say the staff was shocked wouldn't do it justice.
The administrative office had various large scale profound formations set up to keep the city's stench out, so the overpowering smell of blood stung the heightened noses of the profound Practitioners causing a small scale ruckus.
Orochi Maru's servants removed the bloody heads from the wagon, as the city guard called over a bounty officer. As the officer identified the heads he grew increasingly shocked!
These men weren't particularly strong people but they were a particular type of criminal. They resided in the smelly and dirty area of the eastern slums. They were too weak and slippery for Nascent profound realm practitioners to take on. But too strong or elusive for elementary profound realm practitioners as well.
So the bounties on their heads were a little larger than normal. In total, he received around 90,000 yellow profound coins for his trouble. He quickly exchanged the sum for their equivalent of 9 purple profound coins.
The surrounding servants who watched this transaction felt wonder. None of them had ever seen such wealth before. Mind you, the average citizen of new moon city makes around 30,000 yellow profound coins or around 3 purple profound coins. But for the eastern slums, making the equivalent of 10,000 yellow profound coins was a stretch!
On the other hand, Orochimaru, who'd been spending purple profound coins like nobodies business felt a little unsatisfied. So he decided to take a couple copies of a few heavyweight bounties with him before ascending the palanquine.
However, he didn't head home. Instead, he ordered his servants to take him to a jewelry store. There, he spent the 9 purple profound coins on various polished clear crystals and soft metals.
His criminal lackies felt relieved and rather confident with the their new identities. They looked at the back of plalanquin which housed their lord and couldn't help but wonder how truly powerful he was.
True profound realm? Maybe spirit profound realm?
'Who knew there was a face swapping technique!?'

Inside his makeshift lab, Orochimaru fiddled with small metal pieces. He struggled for a bit and eventually assembled them into an odd looking tool.
Its main body consisted of two flat and thin brass plates riveted together. Sandwiched between the plates was a polished bi-convex crystal.
"Tsk! Such a difficult thing to build." Orochimaru regarded the tool; he was not well versed in engineering or metal work. His passions were focused on biology or jutsu and now profound energy. But in a technologically stunted world such as this, he'd need to get creative.
But in the end, he'd managed to create the first microscope in this new land! Unfortunately, he wasn't skilled or knowledgeable enough to create a microscope with the same ranges of magnification possessed by an electron microscope from his own world. For the moment this simple one would have to do.
The snake sanin set the tool aside and removed various scrolls and jars from the shelves behind him. With a simple hand seal, various jars with visceral organs appeared.
'Storage seals... What would I do without you?.' It had taken quite a bit out of Orochimaru to create these preservative storage scrolls with his impaired chakra control.
Without refrigeration and not wanting to damage the cells by using chemicals, he had to use the scrolls of preservation most shinobi would use for long term missions.
The serpentine Sanin's eyes lit up as he removed thin pieces of flesh and even bone scrapings from various organs and limbs using sterile equipment. Afterwards he placed each sample on pre-labeled Petri dishes.
Each specimen was placed on a pin that was manipulated by the means two of screws. The sample translator screw and rod located at the bottom of the microscope where it passed though a right angled bracket, which secured it to the microscope, and then stopped at a metal block located in the middle of the microscope body plates.
The specimen-holder pin was connected to the other side of this block, so when Orochimaru turned the translator screw, it moved the specimen up or down. Another screw, placed into the block perpendicular to the microscope plates, serves as a height-adjustment screw.
He then turned another small screw. This one pushed against the metal plates and moves the specimen toward or away from the lens, acting in a manner similar to a focus knob. On the back side of the microscope, another screw held the right angled bracket to the metal body plates and also serves as a pivot point to move the specimen from side to side.
He angled the microscope and it's sample before a candle. The light and the nature of the microscope allowed Orochimaru to see magnifications ranging from 70x to over 250x! His eyes only grew wider and his expression became even more excited as he veiwed the magnified specimens!
He didn't know it, but at that moment, Orochimaru became the first mortal individual; without the use of Profound arts to view the microscopic world in the entire primal chaos!
