The young Lockhart wasn't going to take his time. It barely took five seconds for him to arrive in Coast City. Sora's light sense blew through the entire coast, revealing the boom tube at an abandoned military base.
It was more of a conquered base than an abandoned one. Dead soldiers were scattered across the area. The majority of them were ripped in half, their intestines spilling everywhere. Hundreds of alien soldiers surrounded the device that seemed to be at critical mass. The portal was only seconds away from opening.
If the device succeeded, millions of parademons would pour out from the other side. Planet Earth would be lost to the invasion. At least, that was if Sora didn't exist. The sleepy man instantly appeared in front of the boom tube.
The darklight greatsword had reappeared in his hands. An elegant stroke of his arm left the device in pieces. Only then did the surrounding enemies notice the new arrival. They charged at him as if their minds were in sync.
'Do they have a beehive mentality?' Sora wondered.
His perception sped up until every creature was at a standstill. The closest soldier's hand was millimeters from his face. Sora charged his greatsword with even more light, causing it to glow with twilight luminescence. His arm waved the blade at lightspeed. The movement couldn't be seen.
ZZMMMMM
A gargantuan energy slash burst forward, engulfing the alien army in black light. It was a hyper slash. That single swing of his greatsword had erupted into a hyper beam. Everything in front of him was annihilated. Luckily, it was angled towards the sky. There was no telling how many civilians across the country would've died from that single attack.
Just like that, the surrounding area grew quiet. The military base wasn't able to remain standing after that attack. It had become a flatland. One could easily tell that an overwhelming force had passed through. Still, that wasn't the end.
"There should be one more hotspot in Metropolis." He muttered.
Hopefully things were still manageable there. Sike! Sora hoped that the city would be in chaos. He was having a bunch of fun! Why stop now? This was the first time that he'd ever been able to let loose. With a wide smile on his face, he beamed toward Metropolis.
Things were as he'd expected it to be. He couldn't help but let out a whistle. The boom tube had already opened. Millions of parademons were flying through the city and going even further beyond. The sky was shrouded in silhouettes. Shockwaves were resounding everywhere.
Heroes were already fighting as best they could. It was a fight for survival. Sora could see the man of steel blowing through the enemies like paper. Still, it wasn't enough. The sheer numbers were overwhelming. Batman was fighting alongside a man in green who used constructs to fight. It was Green Lantern.
Buildings were toppling over and the citizens could only run. Aliens were swooping them up like predators, taking them as livestock. The young Lockhart was glad that he destroyed the boom tube in Gotham. Nothing was allowed to come near Alice. Nothing.
Sora quickly flashed beside the heroes. It took them a few seconds to notice him since they were obviously busy. Only when things seemed to get easier did they raise an eyebrow.
"Need a hand?" The sleepy man spoke.
"..........................."
"..........................."
"..........................."
Superman and Green Lantern raised an eyebrow, while Batman frowned. Nothing was said as they charged back into the fight. Sora couldn't help but smile under the mask.
'Obviously they're occupied. I need to choose a better timing.' He thought with slight disappointment. It was his first debut next to the heroes, after all.
Regardless, he knew it was important to bring down the number of enemies. His blade stabbed into the ground. As he rested his hands on the hilt, 12 knights in dark armor materialized beside him. Each of them carried a greatsword with black flames dancing on the edge. The ends of their capes were glowing, seeming like a universe was held within. They were moving light constructs, fueled by his divinity.
"Go."
Sora raised his sword and pointed at the sky filled with enemies. At his command, the knights crouched down in order to jump. They were gone in an instant. The ground cracked beneath each one of them. In different parts of the city, those knights quickly appeared.
It quickly became a slaughterhouse. Hundreds of thousands of parademons were cut down. The knights swung their flaming greatswords, sending black energy slashes across the sky. Sparkling hyper beams washed over the planetary army.
BOOOOM
The power of their movements caused the air to crackle like thunder. Wind pressure flew everywhere, forcing civilians to hold onto something. The unlucky ones were thrown around.
Each darklight construct was formidable in its own right. The trio of heroes could only watch in awe as the overwhelming army of aliens soon turned into nothing. Superman happened to spot Sora relaxing on a piece of broken rubble, watching as if he was a king.
One by one, the knights returned. They stood beside him in silence, their blades stabbed into the ground. The kryptonian floated over to Sora with a grim expression. Batman wasn't far behind, a grave look on his face. They were wary of him. That kind of power…it was terrifying.
Green Lantern was the only one who didn't look terrified. He quickly flew up to Sora, ignoring the knights nearby. His hand patted the young Lockhart's shoulder.
"Bro…that was so cool, dude! That mask is sick! How did you make your constructs move so fast?" He exclaimed. Sora gave a small smile. It couldn't be seen, of course.
"...You also make constructs too, right? Just try a bit harder to increase their speed. Now that the path is clear to you, training is all that's left." The sleepy man responded.
"Hmmm…so create them with an emphasis on speed. Does that make their attacks hit harder?"
"Yes, you have to-"
"Who are you?" Batman interrupted. Superman's fists were clenched.
There was a moment of silence. The tension in the air was palpable. Sora didn't respond, opting to stare at them instead. After a few more seconds of quiet, he spoke.
"...We should have some time before the next wave appears."
Both Batman and Superman frowned. He didn't answer the question. Green Lantern felt a tingle in spine. The silence…This shit was making him nervous! Before anything else could be said, the kryptonian froze as if he heard something. Sora heard it as well.
"Calling for backup! The president's aircraft is under attack! We can't hold them back much longer!" It was a transmission from a military com.
Superman nodded to the group before launching into the sky. He broke the sound barrier with his exit. That left the three of them. Sora glanced at Batman and Green Lantern.
"Be right back."
He launched in the same direction as the man of steel. Each of the darklight knights dissolved into sparkling particles. The sleepy man took a step off the air while flying. His acceleration increased, resembling a ray of light.
