Beast Driven System

The modern age of human society had undergone an evolution that changed it forever. Mana had arrived on Earth, and with it, came a meteor shower that threatened to reduce humanity to nothing but rubble and debris. Earth's governments were thrown into chaos because of this, and many military units were deployed to protect the masses from what they could only assume to be the end of the world. Using the most advanced arsenal possessed by the various world military governments, the adverse effects of the meteor shower had been controlled to an incredible degree, protecting most of Earth's inhabitants from utter annihilation. There were countries that were destroyed, leaderships and citizens wiped from the face of the Earth. Reconstruction had to be done to bring the demolished landscapes back to their former glory. It seemed like everything had gone back to normal, however, that was far from the case. Months after the meteor shower incident, world renouned scientists dedicated their time to studying these strange crystalline meteorites. Years later, and something ground breaking had been discovered-abilities. These meteorites, they weren't actually meteorites, but crystals. Where they had come from was unknown and still being researched up till today. From the crystals came abilities that changed humanity forever. Those who could afford the crystals were fortuate enough to obtain strange powers from within. Fire, boulder, serpent, and many others. Many more years passed by, and more and more was being discovered about abilities and the crystals they came from. Everything seemed to be heading up after the phenomenon that nearly destroyed the Earth, but not everything was for the benefit of everyone. For many years, most were oblivious to the presence of abilities on Earth. It wasn't until an alien invasion occoured, that the information on abilities was made public. Strong ability users were needed to defend Earth against the Shales. The government, private and public corporations, and many others, they were all monetizing whatever crystals they could get their hands on, using it as a means of earning revenye from the populace. Those who were rich enough to purchase ability crystals could become ability users, while those who couldn't would simply remain as regular humans. Many rich families in the new world were able to obtain strong abilities for themselves and their children; the ones who would continue their lineage and glory once their parents are no more. In order to learn how to defend humanity from the invasion of the aliens, people from the ages of 16 were ordered to attend a military academy by the decree of the federal government of their respective countries. Failure to abide by this law was punishable by jail time. Kayden, a sixteen-year-old from a city known as Black Saber city. Having lost his parents at a very yoing age, he had to live with his single uncle and his cousin. Like many other teenagers his age, he desired to attend military school to learn how to fight against the Shales. However, being unable to afford an ability, his dreams of becoming powerful seemed like they would be crushed, but that all changed the day he had been given a system that allows him to unlock monsters by completing quests. On his path to evolve, he must face multiple challenges, complete quests and go on missions just to grow in strength. For in the current world, only the strong are regarded, while the weak are cast aside and forgotten. That was the general rule, the rule that governed everything that happened. From a crystal, came a power that changed his life. Now, he must do whatever it takes to save the people he loves and cares about. He must make sure that he doesn't loose the people he cares about once more.

Surprised(Part 2)

Kayden had been badly injured by the attack from the shale. Though he managed to heal himself with his mana, he wasn't confident in his ability to defeat thr enemy that stood before him, one of the reasons being the fact that three of the academy's insteuctors, each of which were easily more stronger than him, had failed in taking down the alien.

They had fought together, using their powers to try and overwhelm the shale, but, it was able to counter all of them and stand its ground.

"Looks like you'll need our help with this one," Paul said, activating his ability. His power, which was of the tracker class, although wouldn't help him much in this case since his enemy qas clearly visible, he could still make use of his physical prowess tp help even thr playing field.

And then Shawn, with his teleportation ability, he was able to telrport the shale away from Kayden before it would inflict any more damage on him. Now that Kayden was safe, he pulled his fist back, punching the alien right across its face, though it didn't do much to affect it.

'Of course, physical attacks at my level won't so much to it,' he thought, as the next second, he teleported away before the alien could attack him.

"Now, you'll have to deal with me!* The instructor yelled, sending out visible claw strikes in the air, bigger than the ones sent before. Despite this, the alien was able to dodge all of the attacks, while charging one of its own once again.

"Give up already?" Hikari asked, looking down at the mayor. His body laid atop a pool of his own blood. Surrounding them both were multiple destroyed shops and other buildings. Many lives had been taken, and it seemed as though the incarnation had managed to defeat the mayor.

'This body seems to have a lot of potential. Memory alteration. When was thr last time i heard of someone who had that ability? It funny, now that i yhink about it. In the first place, abilities come from a special type of mana cores, but then, one would think that each mana core was unique, that an ability can only be possessed by a person once.

"Although that is not necessarily the case, aince one's ability can be passed down to their offspring. Also, if two people with different abilities have a child, that child might ens up having a mixture of both their abilities, or maybe even a completely different ability altogether. It's all so fascinating...

'This body has the mibd alteration ability. With it, i was able to imbue it's properties into my mist, making it more lethal by messing with the mind of my opponent. And now, beaten abd mind fucked, he can't even muster the strength to kneel,' he finished his thought with a grin.

"Now, you die," Hikari said, holding a sharp piece of glass in his hand as he inched closer.

Before he could finish what he had started, a punch connected with his face, sending his body flying back abd crashing into one of the nearby buildings, causing the brubble to collapse on him abd bury him in the process. However, releasing a blast of his mana, he cleared the area surrounding him of rubble andfallen debris, walking out from the building unscathed.

"You seem quite strong," a man said, holding his fist back. Lightning could be seen surroundibg his fist, and immediately, he burst forward with incredible speed, trails of lightning striking everything in sight as he didn't hold back.

Before the attack could hit, Hikari coated both of his hands in the strange blue mist, combining the powers once again. Just as the man hot close enough, he shifted his feet and moved to thr side, dodging the attack as he brought his hands closer to strike.

"You think you've got me!" Thr man yelled, reacting qhick enough as he altered the direction his body was moving to, swingong his hand as the lightning struch Hikari on his fist. The lightning went through his body, electrifying him. It wad more intense that anything he had encountered so far, and it also seemed like the lightning was dispelling the mist as well.

"You punk!" Hikari swung his hand out, wishing to slash at the man, however, he was quick enough to dodge and sent out a beam of lightning at him. He was surprised by this and the attack cojnected once again, causing him to yell out in pain as the energy in his body began to grow wild.

"Disperse!" He yelled, and the blue mist seemed to explode from his body, quickly coveribg thr area they were in. Thr mist was thick, making it hard for the man to see, however, he kept his liggtning ability active, just in case Hikari decided to try something.

'When i was alerted by the mayor that a rogue was terorizing the city, i wasn't expecting him to be this strong. Isn't he just a kid? How is he able to keep up with me? And also, what is up with this strange mist power?'

Even now, the effects of thr mist was affecting him. He was finding it difficult to concentrate as his vision blurred from time to time. He also found himself wondering what he was even doing there in tbe first place, only to slap himself to recall what was going on.

'This mist is making me forget things. This is more dangerous than i tbought. First, i need to get rid of this fog then deal with that student,' with this thought in mind, he amplified his ability, sending out massive loads of lightning all over the place. The lightning seemed to affect the mist as it was being dispersed, making it possible for him to see once again.

"Too late," a voice said, and from behind, hr felt a hand on his back, then following that, a seerong pain and liquid trickling down his back. "You were strong. Good job," Hikari saod, pulling his hand out.

"Although this isn't much for someone like you. I bet you can easiky heal from a wound like this, right?" He asked, folding his hands.

"You bastard!" The man cursed, fueling his mamato quickly heal himself. However, as he began to concentrate, he noticed something was off.

"Oh, you've noticed it already?" Hikari asked.

"What did you..." The man was left speechless. "My body... I can't feel my mana anymore. What did you do?!" He yelled, shaking his fist.

"Now, why would i go ahead and tell you that? It'll spoil the fun," Hikari replied with a grin on his face. "Now, i can watch you die peacefully without cheating nature like you have done time and again in your miserable life.

Right then and there, the man who had appeared to take out the threat, he had been killed. His body staggered a couple times before eventually collapsing against the ground, laying there unmoving.

"This place is getting boring. Let me go someplace else and search for stronger people to fight," Hikari said. Croucjing down, he exploded with speed into the air, landing atop one of the high-rise buildings in the city. Lookong beyond, he witnessed numerous city lights and the sounds of people chatting abd going about their day as usual.

Seeing all of this, a smile tore through his face as he began to imagine all the things he could do.

"Strong. I need strong people to fight. I want to fight!" He screamed at the top of his lungs, his vouce going out far and wide. "I don't care who i have to fight! As long as i battle, that's fine by me!"

In the midst of his laughter, a ringing pain could be felt in his head. He gripped hos head with force, shaking it uncontrollably, doing whatever he could to get rid of the pain. Not paying attention, he lost his balance and stumbled towards the edge. Now, his body was falling through the sky, heading towards the busy road below.

"What is this?!" He yelled, his eyes swuinted shot as his body crashed into one of the birds flying on the air, causing it to fly off course and crash into the ground not too far away.

"This is an order from the Shade!" A loid, boomong voice rang oit in his head. "We are the ones who brpught you back into this world! We are the ones who reincarnated your soul into that body!"

"Aaarrhhhh!" Hikari yelled, swiping his habd in the air, sending out a visible slash of mana that cut through cars, people, and even buildings and other structures below.

"We brought you back, so that you can assist us with our goal! You with do that, else, your soul with be plucked, and sent back!"

His body crashed against the hard, solid ground below. The citizens below were terrified to see a younger fall from such a height, however, almost immediately, I dawned upon them that this boy, this one standing right in front of them, was the very same one they had heard of in the news who was on a killing spree, right before the news reporters had been hunted dpwn and killed by him.
