chapter 5

its currently night. around 11 PM.

Everybody is in their beds, sleeping.

Its probably the only period in which you can experience silence in this place. Just how i like it. I quite dislike listening to kids shouting and playing all the time. I'm happy they are having fun, but listening to them all day everyday is beyond annoying.

And the dark is quite soft to my eyes compared to the blinding light of day. having enhanced eyesight can be annoying during a bright day. In comparison it really helps during the night.

The serene atmosphere, the stillness, the calmness. Night is my favorite period of the day.

And i would feel even better if jess didn't kidnap me from my bed to use me as a hug pillow.

While i was lost in thought in my bed she came next to my bed, unbeknownst to me who had dropped my guard, And snatched me. I didn't resist as I didn't process it fast enough, but she wrapped me in my own blanket and took me with her to her bed before sleeping.

I didn't retaliate to this injustice. I cant, sadly. if i do she is gonna feel bad. I wouldn't be hurting her much but she would still be slightly sad. I don't want to hurt her feelings because of such a trivial matter. And she deserves at least this much. she is still a young teen but she goes out and attends work full-time everyday.

Since I'm not sleepy, and even if I was I wouldn't be able to sleep with jess hugging me like this.

So i used the time to train my ki sensing with all the sleeping people here.

Their ki flows quite slowly through their body compared to when they where awake. Therefore it feels fainter, even though the quantity didn't change.

So I assume that if a persons ki feels fainter it could be because they are knocked out, not necessarily because they are hurt.

This is useful info in case of a hostage situation or in a bigger battlefield where I wont be able to constantly look at the situation with my eyes, but have to rely on ki sensing.

Which brings me on another subject.

I am quite strong physically, and if need be i can deal decent damage with my ki attacks.

I think im ready to go out and fight some thugs or other criminals on the weaker spectrum. not because I cant beat up some slightly stronger ones ,but because I don't have the necessary experience to feel more assured. You cant know if your opponent is actually quite cunning and skilled before the fight.

My instincts are urging me to go search for some strong villains but i know better than to risk it after literally only one day of training.

Side quest: come back before anybody in the orphanage wakes up.

Welp. I guess i know what I'm doing tonight. I think both quests are a piece of cake.

But there is one obstacle.

Jess.

getting out of her grip without waking her is gonna be hard. The only way i see this being possible is through wiggling out.

Time to become a worm it seems.

Time-Skip: 20 minutes

Running on the top of multiple buildings is a short figure, masked by a robe like dark cloth. Surprisingly even though the figure is running at more than 60km/h his hood doesn't dislodge itself. Keeping his face secret.

After a bit the figure stops running and faces a alley.

Thug 1 :"Hey sweety! what is a sexy girl like you doing here so late at night?"

Thug 2 :" its quite late for a beautiful girl like you to be out here, unprotected. Haha. "

A young woman seems to have made the wrong decision of walking through the alley. to make matters worse, at night.

She is trembling slightly as she realizes she should have listened to her parents and not go out late.

Thug 1 :"Hey stop walking fast we are not gonna hurt you, unless you are a unruly one!"

Thug 2:" yeah! we are not gonna hurt you. just come with us and have some fun! Thats why you came here at this time right?"

The girl started running to escape the two horny thugs. But they run after her.

thug 1 : "you are only making it worse for yourself! cuz now im not gonna be gentle!"

Thug 2: "The more you run the worse it will be!"

The girl is struggling to run in her tight skirt, eventually tripping and falling over.

The thugs laugh as they start decelerating with they hands reaching towards her.

But of course, suddenly from the top a figure is falling on the tugs smashing thug 1 on the ground, knocking him out. Like every novel that has action in the history of stereotypical situations in literature.

Thug 2 takes notice of the disturbance and turns his head to his left where thug 1 was supposed to be. but before he could even completely turn his head to look a foot places itself on his face at speeds the untrained eye cant catch.

The force of the impact disfigures his face and yeets him to the wall, smashing through it at a speed too high for either him or the young woman to register what happened.

Unlike the usual though, the assailant that smashed the thugs left the instance his work was done. Not even sparing a glance at the girl that just started comprehending what she just witnessed.

The total encounter from the landing to the wall breaking took 0.5 seconds. Igarashi's movements where clean and focused towards efficiency. taking longer to beat two low lives is a waste of time. (A/N: much like writing this whole scene is).

He doesn't care about bringing them to some police station, the young woman should be intelligent enough to inform the police. Instead he leaves to find some more targets.

The girl gets out of her dumbfounded state and grabs her bag, searching through it to find her phone. When she does she dials 110 straight away.

police: "110 what is your emergency?" (A/N I don't know what the Japanese police say when they answer).

Girl: "i think i just witnessed a murder, a double overkill to be specific"

Sorry for taking so long but exams are hard and i have a lot a studying to do.

i honestly feel to bored to even write out such a stereotypical situation. But i think that it is necessary to a degree.

It was a short chapter too. around 1100 wors compared o the previous chapters which where 2.5-3k.

And I'm probably not gonna update until 15-17 of june when im done with exams. adios!
