What If I Was Mute?

He pulled out the drug within it and a syringe, then used the syringe to suck the entire drug out of its bottle.

Once he was done, he handed it over to Lucius, who smiled wickedly at Leia as he received it.

Horror flickered in Leia's eyes on seeing the drug, and she immediately began to struggle, even though she was weak.

This was not just any drug, but a very lethal one that messes with one's head.

It leads to memory loss, where you literally remember nothing that was once said to you.

"Let me go!" She cried, but Lucius had the men hold her down.

He harshly grabbed her by the chin, and tears began to flow from Leia's eyes.

"Please no! Don't do this to me!" She pleaded in fear and seeing a look of fear that he rarely sees on her face, a sort of satisfaction washed over Lucius.

It was as if, despite seeing her tears, he didn't feel a tiny bit of guilt even though he was her father.

"Please don't! I beg you! Plea—" She fell silent the moment the syringe was inserted into her neck.

He injected the drug into her body, and her lashes fluttered vigorously as the drug quickly circulated at a rapid speed.

The last two drops of tears fell from her eyes, and she collapsed in the next moment.

Lucius grabbed her by the hair, determined to make sure that she remembers nothing when she woke up.

With his eyes tightly shut, he heavily slammed her head onto the wall, causing blood to begin to trickle down Leia's face almost immediately.

Theo, who was standing by the side, balled his hands, clearly pained by what they were doing to her.

"Have the maids wash her up," Lucius ordered, and without uttering anything else, he walked out of the basement, leaving Logan, who was staring at Leia's unconscious body.

"You brought it upon yourself." He scoffed and stormed out of the basement as well.

—————-

Everly arrived back at the mansion, and the moment she stepped inside, she met Delacy pacing back and forth with a worried expression on her face.

"Hey! Where have you been?"

Delacy immediately yelled when she saw her.

Everly halted and fluttered her eyes in a bit of confusion.

"Um…is everything-"

"Mr. Avalanzo is looking for you." She cut her off immediately, and Everly glanced at the stairs.

"I see… Is he mad, by any chance? I really thought I would return before him." She asked.

"You bet he is!" Delacy sneered and walked away with a disappointed expression on her face.

Everly tucked a few strands of her hair that fell over her face behind her ear and proceeded up the stairs.

She made her way toward the eighth room and grabbed the door handle to turn it.

But immediately recalling that she mustn't enter without knocking, she quickly withdrew her hand and let out a whiff of breath.

"That was close."

She placed three light knocks on the door, and Valerio gave his permission.

She pushed the door open and stepped inside, closing it afterward.

"Afternoon, Sir Avalanzo." She slightly bowed to him, and Valerio, whose head was resting at the edge of the couch he was sitting on, turned his head to look at her.

"You have returned." He spoke to her in a neutral tone, and Everly nodded her head.

"Mhm."

"Where did you go? And why didn't you tell me?" He inquired in an indifferent tone.

Everly bit her lower lip, not sure if she should tell him.

"You moron, of course, you should tell me! That's what you are supposed to do!" He suddenly yelled, causing Everly to flinch.

"Ye! I—" She squinted her eyes, now recalling that he could read her mind.

Why does it always slip her mind?

She pinched her brows together and took a deep breath.

"Well… I apologize for not telling you, but I was in a hurry since it was important, so I couldn't afford to wait for you to come home." She explained.

Valerio arched his brow at her and sat up on the couch.

He crossed his legs and faced her.

"So... where did you go?" He questioned.

"Uh..." Everly stammered. "...I went to the hospital" She eventually spits out.

"Hospital? Are you sick?" Valerio asked, and she shook her head at him.

"I am not sure. I have just been feeling weird lately, so...I went for a checkup." She replied.

"I see…" Valerio nodded his head. "Well, the next time you are going, do let me know. Working for me means you will always be in danger as well because every successful person has enemies."

"As a result, I cannot guarantee your safety; therefore, I must know where you go and remember what I told you the last time. Only answer to me and no one else, is that clear?" He elucidated.

Everly nodded her head in understanding and allowed a soft smile to spread across her face.

"So... is there anything I can do for you?" She inquired.

"Everly, do you know that your brain is quite slow?" He asked abruptly.

"Ye!" Everly was appalled, had her jaw fall in perplexity.

Does he casually crush people's hearts like this?

She wondered, and Valerio turned his head to look at her.

"I am not crushing your heart; rather, I am telling you the truth." He shrugged. "You do realize that it's time for my green tea, yet you are asking me if there is anything you can do for me."

"What if I was mute? What would you do then?" He questioned.
