The Last Storyteller

In the meticulously ordered city of Veritas, 17-year-old Anya is an apprentice at the Ministry of Truth, where stories have been declared relics of a dangerous, bygone era. "Fictions" are systematically purged, while fact-based "Non-Fictions" are the sole source of sanctioned knowledge. Citizens live under the watchful eye of the surveillance network and are bombarded with daily "Fact Showers" reinforcing the Ministry's approved version of reality. Since childhood, Anya has harbored a forbidden love for the whispers of old tales, passed down secretly by her grandmother. This yearning explodes when she stumbles upon a hidden room in the Ministry's archives, stacked with dusty, forbidden books. Anya's world shifts; she can't resist the lure of imagined worlds. Worse yet, she discovers a rare ability: the characters and landscapes in the stories she reads flicker into vivid visualizations, as real as her dull surroundings. Torn between loyalty and her newfound passion, Anya's life is further complicated when she's drawn into the orbit of The Storytellers. This clandestine group believes stories feed the soul and ignite critical thinking – precisely what the Ministry fears. Anya finds herself caught between order and imagination, duty and rebellion, especially as sparks fly between her and Luka, a daring young Storyteller. Meanwhile, the Ministry's hold on Veritas tightens. The Censor, a man haunted by a childhood tragedy he blames on the chaotic power of fiction, oversees ruthless suppression of dissent. He secretly develops a technology to stifle the very act of imagination, ensuring the unquestioning obedience of his citizens. As Anya is swept up in the Storytellers' plans for rebellion, she realizes her visualizations could be their most potent weapon. But her power also paints a target on her back. She must choose: protect herself and comply with the Ministry's oppressive rule, or join the fight for the transformative power of stories, facing capture, the uncovering of her gift, and the threat of the Censor's mind-numbing technology. In a city where truth itself is subjective, Anya discovers the line between fact and fiction is less solid than she once believed. The future of Veritas hinges not just on survival, but on the battle to revive the human spirit – a fight that may depend on the last storyteller.

An above average forging novel. Yes it is a bit sad that something this generic is labeled above average but that’s just how low Webnovel standards are. Here’s a list of tropes (super long): Transmigration to alternate self, underestimated protagonist due to past incompetence (results in face slapping), fallen genius rises up, female teacher that cares a lot about our protagonist because idk, random “school belle” is in love with the protagonist because idk, protagonist with ridiculously OP cheat ability because why not, irrationally angry young masters, generically bland protagonist oh and did I mention that basically every attractive woman is biased to our protagonist. Despite the bashing I just gave this novel, it is ok as a standard predictable time killer, it’s not great but it is unfortunately far from the worst trail read out there. 2/5

Just not worth your time things like: A divine weapon blueprint is priceless, not even the academy has one Every student needs to deliver a divine weapon blueprint by the end of the year

I really want to like it but in the first chapter we have china number 1, I just can't belive that in 100 chapters this will not become racist. I really don't care about nacionalism but extreme nationalism usually comes with the inferiorization of other ethnicities.

The synopsis doesn’t do this novel justice. Honestly, not even a bad novel. While cliche, the writing quality is good and the main focus of the story, the blacksmithing, is written well. Transmigrated into an alternate version of himself, the mc finds himself in the dilemma where the graduation is a month away and he isn’t prepared. As you know from the synopsis, he received a smithing system and a blueprint for the legendary thunder hammer. However, what the synopsis fails to mention is that his alternate self had originally been a genius in his own right, but had fallen into a slump and debt due to attempting to craft a divine weapon. Due to this past, he does have some relations with some female characters, but merely on the level of acquaintances. The alternate world has these weapons, monsters, etc. However, it lacks the culture we are so proud of. The culivation novels, the video games, the anime, etc. Unlike how the synopsis is written, he doesn’t solely depend on the blueprints, but forged items that are derived from the culture this world lacks. He has the power of god, anime, and games on his side. I find this novel enjoyable! It’s not some masterpiece, but I would be able to read hundred of chapters of this.

the story started or interesting, but quickly developed into a mess. the author uses lots of filler to get to his word count, then adds new important story information, forgets what he wrote 50-100 chapters before, and thus contradicts himself. characters are introduced, forgotten, and sometimes reintroduced with the author just saying they were there the whole time. the whole forging aspect is thrown out of the window around chapter 400 (it might be reintroduced, but I have not read that far). I don't mind the china-is-superior writing style, that a lot of the Chinese authors have, but this author is quite extreme with it, while not being able to put it in a nice package (writing wise). I've read up to chapter 444 so far, and the story went from "sounds interesting" to "this is stupid, why am I still reading this". I hope it gets better again, but I doubt it, looking at the authors ability so far

This novel starts out interesting, transmigration, spiritual power replacing technological power, aliens attacking the planet. But after awhile, it reads like propaganda written by a political officer. By the time it hits 400 chapters, nationalism and racism makes it's appearance. The plot skips all over the place; forging is no longer as important as showing national power. The story becomes a total mess. For a world that was united against alien invaders in the first chapters, the enemy went from aliens to foreign races.

This has a good setting and I love forging novels, but the novel is still a bit shallow. There isn't much emotional depth with the characters and everything about the MC is pretty generic. The 'school belle' also conveniently loves him for no reason, which doesn't make any sense.

The story is good through the first 427 chapters at keeping things consistant and interesting. However, between 428 to 431, the entire world background and style changes as well as his age with no real transition. From 432 on it is like a different story with the same MC. While the second story is a little interesting I am dropping it after 550 because it is not what I want to read right now and because of the huge changes. This is also why I give it a 1 star for World Building, inconsistancy in the background.

This Webnovel is fairly boring? If you are waiting for other Webnovels to update and you don’t feel like trying to read something with action or romance this is for you. There’s maybe as much action and romance is there is in offbrand flavored sparkling water.

i like the fact that this takes a slightly different approach. wu mo ended up in a body that was very talented and people knew it, unlike most other books where the old body was someone trash. now in this story people think he turned crazy with obsession and lost most of his power. but since he was known to be talented he can play his system off as he never lost his power and has been improving this whole time. and since the old wu mo almost never came to class they cant very well say otherwise. im just excited that for once the mc doesnt have to hide their power. ( written at chapter 40)

The story is fine as long as you don't think too much. If you do start thinking though, there are so many dumb stuff over the first 430 chapters and after the 430 chapters. Just to note, the whole story completely changes after the first 430 chapters.A notable mention pre-430 chapters:- Mentions having 2 8 star blacksmiths and then mentions 7 stars being the limit in the span of like 10 chapters (7 star being the limit was after)- A random cultivator ascending to an higher world doesn't make any sense in the context since we never really see anyone above 7 stars even though 8 and 9 stars seems to be mentionned and the highest ranked people are only at 7 stars.About the post 430 chapter mark. Everything about the story just changes. The translation quality drastically drops, "china #1" kind of behavior appears (MC literally makes a drug which extends lifespan only for Chinese people because it "costs less points", which doesn't even make sense since that's more of an extra feature than a removal of a feature for it to cost more). The whole forging system doesn't exist anymore, I'm not even sure magic still exists anymore since it's never mentioned ever after. The whole star ranking system completely disappears, there are no more ranks, there are no more cultivators. The whole research and development system literally takes the MC days to develop a world changing thing. Oh, also, the MC got a girlfriend sometimes during the story apparently although it was never mentionned. The MC also apparently went from being a 20-21 year old to something like a 36-37 year old man according to his own lifespan extending drug, that age change just happened magically. In short: this story started average and it became complete trash after 430 chapters, not even making any sense anymore.
