According to global calculations, there was a two percent chance that any unstable portal could generate a black hole. Humanity valued survival above progress. So the project was banned. But South Africa had begun regressing. Its economy weakened, investors withdrew, and the nation teetered dangerously between first-world and second-world status. The higher-ups grew desperate. Eventually, they made a decision that would alter humanity forever. They secretly funded MERCA’s illegal research, hoping to create something so groundbreaking that South Africa could monopolize it and reclaim its dominance. They only needed one success. Just one. However they had no idea of the domino affect that's about to occur.
