LIKEThe story takes place in 1179 and Geralt WAS BORN in 1211. Now I want to understand how the hell you want Geralt and much more CIRI to appear in the year of the story 💀
Bro, is that a real question? The Witcher revolves entirely around Ciri and Geralt. Without them, the story loses its essence. If the MC arrives too early in the timeline, he’ll completely break the most important plot, He could still create fanfictions that take place a bit after Geralt’s story or even after this era—both would still be alive. I don’t understand why he chose to introduce the main character so early in the timeline. It doesn’t make sense to me; it’s just too early. Making the MC appear that early without any time skips completely breaks the most important plot points in the story. Instead of being a proper fanfiction, it ends up feeling like an original story with a few elements from the books—or even a complete AU. Smh.
Dude, I understand your idea, but I also understand the author's and honestly it's a matter of taste. Like if I create a naruto fanfic in the Madara/Hashirama era, you won't know almost any character, but it will be a valid fanfic and it will have its audience that will want to see something like that. Furthermore, I'm sure there will be a lot of people who don't care about the breaking of future lore due to the MC's actions (depending on how it's done, I even support this), it gives a feeling that the things he does alter the story, you know? In the end, the author is not wrong, and neither are you, since it is a matter of opinion. The only thing I disagree with you is that in the end, no matter how original the work is (because of how far it is from the main story, he is forced to create something original to have the story of the fanfic), it is still a fanfic true rather than an original work inspired by a fictional plot (even if it seems so depending on your point of view).
And now that I think about it, it's actually a very distant time from the main story, but whoever wants to read it, right? NOTE: I stopped reading for a while because of how slow it was and not knowing if it was worth continuing LOL
I understand your point of view, but no, you can’t call a book a fanfiction just because it uses elements from another book while completely deviating from its original plot. That’s impossible. Many books are inspired by other works and incorporate certain elements, but no one classifies them as fanfiction. They remain original works. A fanfiction either modifies or expands upon the plot of an existing universe, but for that to happen, the original story must still be present in some form. In this case, the author simply created a character and placed them far in the past, calling it a fanfiction. They didn’t even specify that it was an AU (Alternate Universe), which is problematic. Usually, when a story is completely different from the original work, the author clearly states it in the description to avoid misleading readers looking for a proper fanfiction. This story is a full AU and should have been labeled as such. People looking for a fanfiction based on The Witcher shouldn’t have to waste their time on a story that doesn’t respect the original universe.
