Like if I create a naruto fanfic in the Madara/Hashirama era, you won't know almost any character, but it will be a valid fanfic and it will have its audience that will want to see something like that. Furthermore, I'm sure there will be a lot of people who don't care about the breaking of future lore due to the MC's actions (depending on how it's done, I even support this), it gives a feeling that the things he does alter the story, you know? In the end, the author is not wrong, and neither are you, since it is a matter of opinion. The only thing I disagree with you is that in the end, no matter how original the work is (because of how far it is from the main story, he is forced to create something original to have the story of the fanfic), it is still a fanfic true rather than an original work inspired by a fictional plot (even if it seems so depending on your point of view).

As a fan of Higurashi it makes me extremely happy to see your story. Honestly there are so few Higurashi fanfics that for me not having many fanfics is very strange!!!
