Not sure what’s hard to understand about that. Sure, it’s more like a “soft-lock” in this case, but withholding content for money is paywalling. This isn’t inherrently bad as obviously businesses do it in the sense of not getting their product without paying, but when it’s not your own published work, it is very much in bad taste to try to get money for it. Probably illegal, too. Essentialy, this is stealing someone else’s product and then charging people for it. Which is why fanfiction and fanart are almost always free.

He’s translating someone else’s work who would have been translated and he’s asking money for the work not only they he’s not even forcing you to pay but if you want advanced chapters of his translated work you can pay. Webnovel is full of spoiled ungrateful c@nts I guess

A Paywall in fanfiction terms is when shit is forever out of reach unless you pay, getting access to advance chapters not yet released that will be on schedule doesn't really count because you wouldn't be getting those chapters early whether he made the patreon or not
