The MC is too strong for a real fight, theclosest thing to it is in chapter 7, and the Avengers are still rather far off, given how early in the timeline the story is.

Thanks, and some can try, yet I don't see the MC or any under him doing so, as he is far above the Infinity Gems. Technically, even his own universe's infinity gems are useless against him unless he allows them, and similarly useless against his realms. And presuming that the Gems require to be gathered in their entirety, and how the story is progressing, it should be impossible for even Thanos to obtain them all unless the MC and Odin purposely give them away while acting blind.
