Buggy has huge potential tial As a character But the story is too slow and too early from the canon At this rate the author will run out of things to write if he keeps stretching Things out So best outcome is to do some time skips and training arcs and move things closer to canon or canon itself This way the true potential Of the story will be realised Speaking from prior experience from many great one piece Fanfics which were dropped midway Another thing author, people are not interested In seeing how mc interacts with some no name of but how he interacts with the main characters of one piece such as yonkos straw hats marines etc. those characters which we have hears about and know of. I have read many fanfics where author often change the entire story by introducing too many original ideas Which kind of destroys the fanfic Whether the story is good or not is secondary But the primary focus should always be on sticking to the orignal content of the canon so readers can relate to it Anyways bro so far good job, but please increase the pace because it’s Getting boring I am not here to see my character struggle with some no names pirates when he could train at some island like luffy did I am okay with him not being a genius as luffy and master everything in two years he can take ten years to do the same As he has 20 years left before canon starts 👍👍

LIKEYou're kinda right. For a fanfiction to be good it needs to interact with the original plot as much as possible. It doesn't matter if the events are completely changed as long as the story follows the original in some way. Of course, a story with original stuff can be really good but only as long as the author has the skills to pull it off. And sadly, most authors in this site don't have the skills. I can't say about this one since I just began reading but so far my experience is that when authors begin trying to introduce too many original characters their fanfic starts to drop in quality because they're just newbie writers and can't create characters and events as good as the originals. That's just how it is. It doesn't mean that everything OC is bad but too much of it hurts the fanfic.
BS. For fanfictions to be good, the protagonist has to change canon.
Yeah it's right I had read many fanfiction in which the author simply uses the Smart Luffy or Ace or reincarnation of any of them and follows the same path as the original. A fanfiction should affect the story and use characters which are left untouched in the original and swirl the event to make it more enjoyable. Many don't even try to keep the timeline true because they want some cheeks. And If you ask me for a perfect one-piece fanfiction then I would suggest Onepiece path of power or path to power.
I haven't read this fanfic, but I recently read a really good fanfic that starts 17 years before the canon. In order for the story to flow in a dynamic way and not get tedious, the author made some jumps in time, for example, when he was 15 years old (the beginning of the fanfic) he left West Blue and entered the Grand Line, after which he began to find a place for your base and become famous, after a few months of content there was a 3 year jump and then there was more content, another 3 year jump and that's how it went until you reached the beginning of the original canon.
