Warning for my fellow readers of dark/evil stories. The tag 'villainous MC' is misleading. The MC's moral hypocrisy is on par with the typical Chinese protagonist. Author comparing the protagonist of this novel, Darius, with Leylin from Warlock of the Magus World? The most inaccurate comparison I've ever seen. Leylon is pragmatic above all else. Darius however? He is anything but pragmatic. Author promises a villanous MC and fails to deliver. I would say at most this protagonist is an 'anti-hero'. Deceptive marketing is never nice.

Watch out! The author will probably delete your review! Based on a small chat with him, the author is quite angry if you dislike anything about his novel. He'll then start accusing you of being rude.

being villain is hard to describe. is it killing descively (innocent or not) or just opposing the goods? Idk who's Leylin but the MC is being practical on his decision. maybe there's some time he is off character but let's face it. there's no perfect novel, only perfect taste(is this the right word🤣🤣) . And this novel falls to my liking so... Have a great day. and yeah, my English is bad xD

How much you have read to actually write a review that mc is not villianous there has only been 50 so chapters. I think you need to read atleast 70 -80 chapters before deciding this.

Warning, for the fellows who actually read reviews and then the replies to said reviews. The reviewer is incensed that the MC did not snoop around in a tablet belonging to some teenagers from another continent to look for any more clues about that continent. Nobody ever said that Darius would be a carbon copy of Leylin. The synopsis merely warns others that Darius Stone does not shy away from committing atrocities like a certain Warlock in the Magus World. 🤦‍♂️

To clarify this review a bit, the synopsis states that the MC of this novel makes certain decisions that many would find unpalatable in today's socio-political climate. It does not state that the character is a carbon copy of Leylin, only that if you could stomach the kind of dark choices Leylin made in his tale, you can stomach Darius'. This is the first of this clever fellow's misconceptions. The second is, of course, the moral ambiguity of the MC. You see, Chuck here expects a typical socia-path edgelord who kills anything and trusts nothing, living life through cynicism and a warped sense of realism. In truth, the MC is just a very dirty businessman who doesn't hesitate to use any method to achieve his goal. Whether kindness or cruelty, as long as they reach the goal, they are acceptable. Now, in order to prevent the MC from becoming an edgy protagonist from a low quality fanfiction that is the definition of perfection i.e Mary Sue, I gave him some realistic character flaws. The first is that the MC lived a full life with family and loved ones, dying a natural and peaceful death. As an old man, he often does old man things like reminisce, compare others to his family and refuses to partake in intercourse with underage girls despite his reincarnated body being the same age as them. Believe it or not, people have insulted and criticized me for that one. All in all, the take away from this review and this clarification is that; A. if you want your typical edgelord MC who acts like every other Xianxia fellow and is the incarnation of perfection, walk away B. If you want a wise and aged MC who carefully considers all his choices and explains the reasons for his actions before doing them, hop on.

criticizing for not doing it on an underaged girl is just so lame. Man, whoever did that is just a horny bastard. Tell him to watch hentai and not read novel if that's the only thing they like.

Judgemental without knowing the context? The average medieval lifespan was incredibly short, hardly 34. And yet, here you are condemning medieval culture as paedophilic for 'underage' coitus/marriage. You're probably referring to my comment in chapter 34. Maybe you should actually read the comment first before making rude presumptions? Regardless, I'll clarify for the sake of your flock: in chapter 34 Darius goes on a chapter-long tirade passionately denouncing medieval cultural customs, and norms - particularly against what Darius percieves as 'underage' sexual culture. All I did was observe how needless the entire spiel was, after all; "When in Rome, do as the Romans do." You're probably the type who mocks local cultures for not being 'progressive' enough. For failing to meet your so-called 'enlightened' standard. See a women wearing a burqa on the streets? Gasp! She's being enslaved by the men in the household! Please grow up.

My reply so that the intelligent can make an informed decision: Photos. Videos. Music. Language. Deciphering, and analysing just these would be a huge advantage against the highly-advanced civilisation; know your enemy and the battle is won before it has even began. Of course, your someone who thinks intelligence doesn't matter in strategic planning. What a genius¬! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- P.S. Devil's Advocate is supposedly the editor of this book. You can't expect an editor to be objective. He is obviously biased.

So you're telling me that you need to read 80 chapters of a novel - any novel - before you have a strong enough impression to make a judgement? Just wow! I'm speechless.

Did you read my review? I merely warned prospective readers on the tags of the novel and nothing else. You clearly like anti-heroes, which is brilliant, but many people read the synopsis of the novel expecting darker shade of characterisation than 'merely' anti-hero (refer to the author promising Darius to be modelled after Leylin - who is an exceptionally well-known Lawful-Evil character). You may not mind being decieved but others certainl do!

Ah man. I got to agree with you. I haven’t come across anyone that could make a good leylin copy.

Since your clearly avoided replying to my response to your questionable consistent review, let me use this to help you reach enlightenment. If you read very carefully - which i know you have a problem doing so bear with me - you’d notice the wording in the synopsis states that Darius makes similar choices to Leylin and that if you could stomach what he did, you can stomach Darius. Now for those like-minded fellows to you who have difficulties with comprehension, this is referring to MORAL choices, not LOGICAL choices. Leylin was a scientist and Darius was a merchant. Their train of logic is nothing similar. As for the hopelessly ignorant remark about me sending fanboys after you... I’m just speechless. Chief, aren’t you overestimating your value and importance a little too much? And why are you assuming that you are so correct that out of the hundreds of readers who look through the reviews to find opnions, none of them will disagree with you? Do you really think you’re the Paragon of Truth and Fact?

Invoking an icon of Lawful-Evil (to use D&D terms) as comparison doesn't seem like misleading marketing to you? Just be honest and admit the protagonist - Darius - is an anti-hero. Why make false comparisons? Of course I didn't reply to your previous comment, it was practically oozing with passive-aggressiveness. In other words, replying to you would've been akin to talking to a wall. And clearly it still is.

Hm, seems like my explanation was lost on you, but that's fine. I was mostly using you to educate those who are like-minded anyway. As for the issue of err... false marketing... I was using that to ward off people, not attract them. I'd rather have people complain that he's too soft than puritans tell me he's an edgelord, so I'll just take this all with a grain of salt.

Funny. This looks like a child throwing a tantrum. If one negative review is turning you into this... You clearly need anger management classes. This isn't an insult. It's a helpful suggestion, spoken with kind intentions.

Hm, a child throwing a tantrum usually uses expletives and violence, not rational debate, but your Ad Hominem shows how much progress I've made so far. Whatever the case, the point has been made. If you want to continue, go ahead, the stage is all yours. I'll be exiting from the left though.

So, it's the proverbial Author's review. Now, let me use this limited and much-visited space to clarify some things for those who are yet to read and those who have begun reading but are likely confused about some things. 1. In this novel, you are mostly spoonfed things, but a wealth of things are also left for you to read in between the lines. This novel was written with the intention of appealing to a thoughtful crowd, so erm... please make sure you fit that category. 2. Darius Stone, the MC, is not an edgelord as many expected from the synopsis. The comparison to Leylin Farlier from Warlock of the Magus world was not referring to their personalities or logical choices, but their moral choices. Unfortunately, some fellows came in hoping to see Leylin V2.0, not Darius Stone. 3. Darius is - as they say - isekai'd. Yes, but please - and absolutely keep this in mind as it is the whole point of the plot - he is not done so freely. He is brought to the world of Faust with a goal in mind, and majority of the actions he takes - whether you like it or not, or whether you feel its smart or not - are geared towards fulfilling that goal, which is to amuse the one who reincarnated him. 4, Please, for the love of God, hide your arrogance and ego. yes, the suggestions you made as to loopholes with the ability he acquires are grand, but you aren't the only one who can do 1+1. I, and the create/characters in the novel, can certainly think that far, and if it's not implemented, it means it likely would not work. This is in regard to the system mechanism as well as the ability. 5. If the above-mentioned things have bothered you, please use this as an official clarification for your doubts. If they haven't, please keep an eye out for them and when you encounter them, remember my words. It would make much more sense when you do. Thanks for reading so far. If you have read a bit and want to leave some praises, you can also make a review or let me know in the replies here or in comments (chapter and paragraph) in the novel. If you have criticisms, you can also leave those, and I will investigate and either give you an explanation, gratitude, or apology depending on the validity. If you are part of the typical crowd who like to insult first and think later, you are also free to leave whatever comments you have wherever. Just beware that, heh, I also insult back, and quite scathingly at that.

Earth's Greatest Magus

#Top 20 Webnovel Best Sellers 2021, 2022, 2023, and in 2024 #### History is said to be written by the victors. If so, how about Earth's history? Two millennia ago, a young boy named Emery met a tragic fate. In his final moments, he was transmigrated and accepted into the Universe's most prestigious school of magic. “You are among the chosen few from thousands of human worlds. Whether you seize this opportunity or not, is up to you. You are at Magus Academy, the pinnacle of humanity's ingenuity. Magic, science, and might are all within reach for those who dare to pursue them." [Scan complete - Quadruple affinity. Water, Earth, Plant, and Darkness.] "A quadruple acolyte! Only one in tens of thousands of acolytes possess this!" Thus began Emery’s journey together with his 4 friends from the furthest corner of Earth. Each year they returned to Earth to grow, seek revenge, save the princess, conquer the world, and become Earth's Greatest Magus. Their names are still etched in our history books to this day. Authors Note: I have always been fascinated by writing fantasy relating to historical facts. In this story, you will find characters inspired by real-world myth and legend. The universe I created hopefully will make the reader's imagination excited and logically plausible. I hope you enjoy it. ### Here are some key aspects you'll encounter: MC: The protagonist follows the classic weak-to-strong arc. World: Picture a blend of Harry Potter and Star Wars. System: While it's primarily a magic-based story, there's a structured system in place that's easy to follow. Additionally, elements of cultivation. Harem: No, there are several female interests. But I enjoy romance first. So even if there will be more than one love interest it will be deep. Note: English is not my first language, but you'll notice that my writing and English skills gradually improve throughout the chapters. Other: The novel delves into deep research on science and history, enriching the storyline with factual and intriguing details. Give it a read—you might be pleasantly surprised by what unfolds.
