I woke up to a bright light shining into my eyes, making me squint. The rest of my senses began to come back to me, making me notice the snoring beside me. Looking to my right I saw a young girl with long black hair, and a school uniform on. My sister. I smiled a little bit and sat up, resting my back on the pillows behind me. I then began to look around and realized I was in the hospital, and then remembered that I had a pipe sticking out of me. Looking down I saw my body had healed, there was some scarred tissue where my wound had been, but other than that everything was fine. Suddenly a pure white screen showed up in my line of sight, making a small sound once it did.
'You have been asleep for 3 days, 10 hours, and 22 minutes... In that time you have received one new message' it informed me, reminding me of what happened before I passed out. I then began to wonder if this was really real, that there was a system that belonged to me and me alone. I then began to become curious, curious about what this system actually was.
"How do I open messages though?" I asked myself quietly, scratching my chin. Suddenly the screen switched.
'Congratulations! You have become the owner of the super hero system! Check your status'
"Check my status? How do I do that?" I asked quietly.

None' I sighed as I looked at her stats, realizing I was weaker than a twelve year old girl. Something then caught my eye, her race said human, while mine said redacted... What could that mean? Before I could get an answer, I heard the door open. Looking towards it, I saw a red and blue suit with a big red S in the middle. My jaw dropped, as Superman walked in with a vase of flowers. His eyes widened a bit as he saw me awake, but that didn't stop him from coming in and setting the vase down.
"Hello." He said, smiling.
"Um.... Hi." I said back, still in shock.
"Mind if I sit here?" He asked, gesturing to the empty chair to my left. I nodded, and he sat down. "What's your name son?" He asked.
"Johnathan." I replied.
"Nice to meet you Johnathan, I'm Superman." He said, sticking his hand out for me to shake. I then stuck my hand out and shook his, acknowledging his firm grip. I then used observe on him, just to see how far I'd have to go to be as powerful as him.

"Johnathan, I'm here to say I'm sorry for getting you caught up in my fight." Superman said, making me sigh.
"It's no big deal... In fact, I think that experience made me realize something..." I said, rubbing the back of my neck.
"Oh? And what would that be?" He asked, confused.
"I was meant for greater things, and that I still have a purpose in this world." I said, smiling a bit at my system screen. "If your really that worried about it, just try to take the fight out of the city next time... Taxes already cost enough and I don't need them to raise any more than they already have..." I said, dreading the next bill. He laughed, a smile of joy on his face.
"I'll try." He said, before getting an alert on his watch thingy. "Sorry, gotta go, there's a situation that requires the help of the league and some Avengers." He said, standing up and going to the nearest window. "If ya ever need some help, call me, alright?" He suggested, flying out the window.
"Will do." I said, smiling a bit.
Superman POV
--------------------
I smiled a bit as I heard those last two words, but it faded when I remembered the real reason I had gone to that hospital.
"How'd it go?" Batman asked through the comms, his voice containing no emotion like usual.
"I don't know Bruce, it's still so confusing... I'll look into it later, let's focus on the task at hand." I said, picking up the speed a bit.
"Clark-" he began, but I cut him off.
"Later." I said, hearing his sigh come next.
"Fine, but I promise you... The more you wait the harder it'll be when you find out the truth, I know from experience." He said, cutting his comms off. I sighed, he may have a point...
But it'll have to wait
John POV
--------------
I grimaced as I looked at the food in front of me, it looked like it was cut off the devil himself, it probably tasted even worse.
"Abby... I appreciate that you made me this but..." I said, picking at it with a fork. "This is unnecessary." I said, looking at my sister.
"Nonsense! Eat up! You need your strength to heal." She said, with a big smile on her face. I gulped, dreading what came next, but I had to keep that smile on her face. So I ate a bit of it, and nearly almost spat it out. Swallowing it down, I had to resist the urge to puke. "How is it?" she asked, showing off her big eyes.
"So.... Good." I said between mouthfuls, I found if you shove as much of it as you can as down your throat as fast as you can it helps with the taste.
'Harmful substance detected, neutralizing the substance'
'Completed, host is completely detoxified'
'New skill-
poison resistance(level 1-8/10): you are now resistant to low concentrations of poison and easily curable diseases' I laughed a bit as I read that last one, even the system counts this stuff as poison. Maybe I should start letting Abby cook more food for me? Maybe once a week? That sounds good, well... Not actually good, but good for leveling. Speaking of leveling, how was I going to level up? I mean, there's crime practically everywhere in this super hero infested city... So finding things to gain from is easy enough, but my battle stats aren't all that good, and there lies the problem. To level up by fighting crime, I'd need to at least have my strength and dexterity stats at ten or above. Then it hit me, maybe I don't need to level up to get stronger, maybe I just need to add to my stats somehow.
"System, check for ways to add to my stats." I ordered under my breath so no body heard me, a new screen popped up.
'To add to your stats you can either get stat points(sp) or drink/consume some kind of special item. You get five stat points every time you level up, and consumable items for stats can be found throughout the world' so there are ways, I just need to find them.
'Host, check your inventory' I quickly did as the system said, opening my inventory and seeing an item in it. Clicking on it, I learned of what it is.
'Dungeon key(grey grade, battle type)- opens up a dungeon which you can access at any time, highly dangerous for beginners, obtained as a welcoming gift from the system creator' I smiled a bit, finally getting a way to level up, one designed specifically for a level one beginner.
This was a chance I was going to take, no matter the risk.
