chapter 2: dungeon

I sat in the hospital bed, holding the dungeon key. There was no telling where I'd end up, it'd most likely be someplace dangerous... But it'd be worth it, I didn't have much motivation for getting stronger, but I knew I'd probably have to... Something told me that I'd face a bunch of strong opponents whether I'd like it or not, so I decided to be ready for that.

'Dungeon types: each dungeon has a specific type, each is meant to make you stronger in different ways

Battle types- this dungeon type is focused on getting the user experience and wisdom of battles and fights, there aren't as many opponents in this type so the exp gain is high for each

Mystery types- this type of dungeon requires the user to solve a mystery to complete it, in the real world the best criminals are the smartest ones, so to catch some criminals you need to be smarter than the criminals. These dungeons have the least amount of opponents, so they're incredibly hard to deal with when you face one, and their exp gain is low for each one

Leveling type- this dungeon type is meant purely for increasing your level, the keys to these dungeons are incredibly rare to get, and these dungeons have the most enemies with high exp gains. They are incredibly dangerous, not meant for anyone below level 25 to go into

Speed dungeons- these dungeons are meant to put intense pressure on the host by creating a time limit to complete them by, if you fail to complete these dungeons in time you will lose all of what you gained in the dungeon and lose access to it forever. Number of enemies are small, but they're incredibly hard to deal with

Hero dungeons- these dungeons are a combination of all the dungeon types, should not be attempted by anyone below level 50' it had been a week since I got the key, and since then I've leveled up everything I can as much as I can.

'Observe(level 10-155/1000)- can observe the stats of people thirty levels above yourself

Poison resistance(level 5-5/500)- you are not affected by cheap poisons and cannot catch common diseases' now all that was left was to enter the dungeon and hope for the best, thankfully the doctors and nurses let me wear my regular black hoodie and blue jeans with the red and white sneakers.

"System, use key." I ordered, immediately getting transported into a dark hallway. Looking around the narrow hallway I saw many lanterns hanging from the ceiling, and that it looked like a Japanese temple.

'Dungeon(battle type)

Name: temple of the demon

Grade: grey

Recommended level: 5

Info: this temple is home to many samurai and shinobi who worship their leader, jaku the demon, as a god. They would do anything jaku tells them to do, even if it meant laying down their lives. Jaku possesses a kind of sorcery that has been lost to the ages, and has been said to control shadows' so a temple full of samurai and shinobi, who worship a fake god called jaku?this is actually pretty interesting, for a dungeon at least. Suddenly a kunai came flying at me, cutting my cheek a bit.

'HP: 95/100' turning around I saw a samurai in blood red armor pointing the tip of his Katana at me, his oni demon mask covering his face. I quickly used observe on him.

'First floor samurai-

Info: a weak samurai with basic mastery over ninjutsu, typically found on the first floor of the temple' I gulped as I looked at the samurai, as he began to charge towards me swinging his sword down on me. I quickly rolled to the left, just barely dodging his sword. I then began to run, realizing I couldn't beat him in a head on fight, I had to outwit him. I ran down the hallway, narrowly dodging the kunai being thrown at me from behind. Think, what could kill this guy for me? Didn't temples like these typically have booby traps? If I could find where those were I could use them to my advantage. I furiously began to look around for traps, looking for any sign of them. I then noticed that some tiles on the floor looked like squares painted to match the other tile, and then the small gap between boards in the walls. I smiled as I quickly turned to face the samurai, waiting for the right moment. He closed the gap between us quickly, swinging his sword down on me like last time. I quickly stepped on the tile and jumped back, watching as a axe swung from the wall and hit the samurai head on killing him.

'Level up!'

'New skill created:

Trap detection(level 2- 5/20)- you can detect obvious traps'

"Status." I said, my stats popping up.

"Use three stat points on strength, and two on dexterity." I ordered, immediately feeling the effect.

'Strength-7

Dexterity-7' I smiled as I picked up the samurais Katana and used observe on it.

'Item: Katana

Grade: grey

Effects: none

Info: a basic Katana used by footsoilders of jaku's army' I then began to swing it around a bit, noticing the difficulty.

"Maybe I need a special skill to use it effectively?" I asked myself, looking at the blade.

'There should be an armory on each floor, skill books/scrolls should be contained there'

"How many floors are there?" I asked.

'Five' then I could only assume that jaku was on the top floor, getting there would be tough but...

"I'm sure I can do it." I said, grabbing the Katana sheathe and strapping it to my waist. "I can't take his armor though, it's too busted up." I decided, standing up fully. I then looked around, wondering which way I should go. "Screw it." I said, running off in a random direction.

----------------------------------

'Level up!' I panted as I sheathed the Katana, resting against the wall. I had been in here for hours and only got to level three, turns out the first time you kill something you get double the amount of exp... Meaning each samurai was now only fifty exp, which is hard to level up with unless you kill a shit ton of em.

Sp:5' though now I know that my intelligence stat is linked to my hp as is my wisdom stat to my mp, both are just the intelligence and wisdom stats multiplied by ten. The hardest part about killing these samurai though is their armor, it's hard to get through so you have to aim for the gaps between the armor, which aren't terribly small but still hard enough to get a Katana through.

"Add all five stat points into strength." I said, watching the stat go up to thirteen. Increasing my strength was good for the long run, but ignoring my dexterity was also a bad thing, but I was sure I could level the two out before the second floor. "My trap detection skill has leveled up a bit too, so I can use the traps on the first floor against them easily." I said.

'Trap detection(level 5-25/50)- you can now detect small unnoticeable traps' I had no doubt that the traps on the first floor were nothing compared to the ones on the higher floors, so trap detection will most likely level up a lot more while I'm here. I then took the samurai armor and extra Katanas and stored them in my inventory, the armor as of now was to risky to wear, it'd only slow me down.

"A map though would be perfect..." I said, looking at the left and right turns before me. The system then showed me a map, making me deadpan. "You had this the entire time and didn't think to mention it?" I asked annoyed, my eye twitching.

'You never asked for it' the system said, making my eye twitch more.

"Next time there's something useful that I don't know about, please tell me." I said, calming down a bit. I then looked at the map and realized I had only filled half of it out, from where I started to the dead center of the first floor. "It even labels important places and traps..." I muttered in amazement, staring at the map. I then noticed a small square room towards the far right of the map, that's probably where the armory is. Closing the map I began to run towards that small square room, running full speed ahead.
