Personal Daos

"Faster than I expected to finish all of them " mumbled Xu Yue as she took one last look into her spatial bag.

Xu Yue then stopped paying attention to her treasures and began once again to practice swordsmanship. She then discovered something.

"My mastery of the Origin Sword Style is really bad " thought Xu Yue as she felt the countless holes and openings in her attacks.

If any other swordsman had known Xu Yue's thoughts, they would have wanted to kill themselves. The problem was not her mastery, but rather Xu Yue's ridiculous perception, which was further enhanced by reaching the Soul Enlightenment realm, and the fact that since she had last practiced the Origin Sword Style, her mastery of the sword had masively improved.

Ten days later,

"This is much better " thought Xu Yue as she used the Origin Sword Style once again.

"I should try it at least once " mumbled Xu Yue as she looked at the effects of her sword strikes. Right now, Xu Yue wanted to attempt to comprehend the Dao of the Sword.

Xu Yue then increased the power she put into her sword. As she did so, peculiar things started to happen around her.

Illusionary swords appeared and disappeared from existence. One moment Xu Yue's training ground was full of sword slashes, another moment it was completely fine, while the next moment it was cut in half.

As Xu Yue used her spiritual sense to examine the things happening around her, she quickly discovered something she had already known, all of the things happening around her were ilusions.

As she was examining the illusions, Xu Yue discovered something was calling to her.

Looking at the sword slash in front of her, the corners of Xu Yue's mouth curled up. As she was looking at the slash, she felt a familiar feeling coming from it. A moment later, the sword at Xu Yue's waist started shaking. Not even the sheath she had gotten from the trial could stop it.

"Was that your original master's dao?" asked Xu Yue as she took the sword out of the sheath and stroked it.

A moment later, the sword shook once again. Xu Yue knew that this was the sword's method of saying yes.

"This is so inconvenient, you should just talk with me " said Xu Yue as she sent her spiritual sense towards the sword.

"Ouch " mumbled Xu Yue as she felt as if her spiritual sense was somehow thrown back into her body.

"I will conquer you one day " said Xu Yue as she felt the sharpness of the blade on her skin. A moment later, she put the sword back into her sheath, not before being cut by it.

"What are you taking revenge for?" said Xu Yue as she looked at the cut that was healing with exaggerated speed. A few moments later, the cut was completely gone.

Having spent too much time, Xu Yue sent her spiritual sense to examine that sword slash, and as she did so, everything completely returned to normal.

Xu Yue then looked at the sky. A large sword was slashing down towards the ground, completely destroying anything that stood in its way.

A few moments later Xu Yue looked at the infinite void around her, the entirety of existence was destroyed by that sword.

"This is why you chose me, right?" asked Xu Yue as she took the sword out of her sheath.

"The Infinite Sword Dao and the Boundless Sword Dao should have some things in common, but they are not the same " continued Xu Yue as she was looking at the sword in her hands.

Together with several other Daos like Alchemy, Formations, Spear, and others, the Sword is one of the Personal Daos. The strength of these Daos can vary based on the individual. In some people's hands, they may be as weak as a Minor Dao or as strong as a Supreme Dao.

The only thing that matters with these Daos is following your own path. For example, if Xu Yue comprehended the Infinite Sword Dao, its power would be several orders of magnitude lower than that of the Boundless Sword Dao, even though both of these Daos are roughfully equal in strength.

After a few hours of going through all of the sword Daos shown to her, Xu Yue did not find the Boundless sword Dao.

"As expected " mumbled Xu Yue, while she was talking with her master after breaking through. Xu Yue discovered the fact that Feng Shuchun did not know of the Boundless sword Dao. This could only mean one thing.

It did not yet exist.

Diferent from normal Daos, in the distant past, personal daos did not exist. They only came into existence after someone had managed to reach an incomprehensible level of mastery over a certain thing.

After they are created, most personal Daos do not exist forever unless their creator becomes immortal.

Xu Yue guessed that the creator of the Infinite Sword dao was an ancestor of the sect who had become immortal.

Famously, the Painting Dao only has one immortal, who managed to transform it from an ordinary art form to one of the most powerful Personal Daos.

Xu Yue spent the entire rest of the day trying to obtain inspiration for her own Dao. Even though she did not make the slightest progress, she was not worried, as the creation of Daos can take tens of thousands of years.

"I should spend one hour a day on this, as to not stall my progress " decided Xu Yue before she went to sleep.

After she woke up, Xu Yue took a small bath before beginning to paint. Today she wanted to try to comprehend the Dao of Painting.

As Xu Yue was painting normally, through her spiritual sense she could see several brushes appearing, most of them painting on the side. She took a glance at them, her spiritual sense focusing on one in particular for a moment before going to the one that stood alone in the middle.

As she sent her spiritual into that brush, the world became blank.

As Xu Yue looked around, she was an enormous brush moving towards her. Behind the brush, the empty void was being transformed into a lush world filled with life, dreams, and aspirations.

An unknown amount of time later, Xu Yue found herself staring at the painting she had just finished.

"The Creation Painting Dao," Xu Yue mumbled, feeling a deep connection between this Dao and her painting path.
