Betrayal

As usual, Monalisa got up early in the morning and got ready for her college. She is a 1st-year finance student. Topper of her class and loved by all. But today she didn't have any idea about her life taking a huge turn.

She got ready and ran downstairs.

"Bye mom, bye dad" she shouted while leaving through the front door.

"Wait for me"

"Sis, why do you always leave me behind?" Mona's kiddo brother Ankit shouted from behind.

"I don't leave you behind dummy, you are just slow. Walk quickly, else you will be late so will I."

First Monalisa dropped Ankit at his school, then headed towards her college.

As soon as she entered her campus she noticed that everyone was staring at her. She had no idea what was going on.

As usual she went ahead for her first lecture, after which she went to the cafeteria. There too people were giving her weird looks.

Then she noticed her best friend ahead of her, so she went to her to ask what was going on.

"Ananya."

"Oh hey, Mona!"

"What's with everyone? Why is everyone staring at me?"

"How would I know?" Ananya sounded weird and ran ahead. Mona knew something big has happened.

Meanwhile, the Principle and the whole staff were looking for Mona. God knows what happened.

"Monalisa Swain! Meet me in my office immediately." the Principle announced from his office.

As Mona entered the room, she suddenly felt chilly. Her parents were there too. And so was her best friend. All she could think of was. What was actually going on?

No matter how much she tried to think of something, she couldn't think of anything.

"I suspect you must have already got an idea of why you are here?" asked the Principal in a very serious voice.

"I really don't."

"Then let me tell you, we have called you to talk about you using drugs." the way the Principal said it, it was sure that he had some proof.

"Drugs?? May I know where this topic came from?." Mona asked while looking at everyone in the room. But all avoided her graze while her parents looked disappointed, then she looked at the best friend.

"Ananya, you know me. You know what kind of a person I am." Ananya was her only friend, both knew each other very well. At least Mona thought so.

"Stop pressurizing Ananya. She was the one who testified against you." after hearing this Mona completely broke down. Her friend actually betrayed her and made her lose everything she had.

"We found drugs in your locker, and Ananya testified that you consumed them every day."

"Ananya....." Mona couldn't believe what was happening.

"Well, Mr. and Mrs. Swain, now that you know what has happened you may take Monalisa back. Once the college board decides on the punishment, We will let you know." Mona's mother and father only nodded and left, which proved that they didn't believe her.

"What are you waiting for? Come along." shouted her mother from outside.

"Mom...Dad...I really didn't...." she pleaded only to be slapped by her mother.

"We are very disappointed in you, Mona. We never expected you to do something like this." and they both left ahead. Mona was left alone when Ananya appeared.

"Oh, dear! My dear Mona. How does it feel to be blamed for something you didn't do?" Ananya asked mockingly.

"Why did you do this?" Mona was about to cry but she knew she shouldn't.

"Why else? I wanted to take what was yours. Today was the surprise inspection day so I placed my drugs in your locker. Now I won't be the second but the first. You lost Sam. Now get lost from here."
