Strangers in the house

.....so many bodyguards around her house and the 5 strange people in the middle.

"Why are you standing there? Come inside and give your greetings. This is Uncle Hopes. An old American friend of mine. He is the chairman of Hopes group." called out Mona's father.

Mr. Hopes was an exchange student of his time. Mr. Swain and Mr. Hopes met when they were in college while studying in the US. Once when Mr. Swain was in trouble, Mr. Hopes saved him in return he made him promise that he will only ask for one thing in the future and he had to do it in return.

"Hello, Mr and Mrs. Hopes. Myself Monalisa Swain. Nice to meet you" Mona was at the edge of crying but she didn't. Even though she didn't, everyone knew something was wrong.

"What's wrong, dear?" asked Mrs. Hopes worriedly. "Why do you sound so sad? Did something happen?"

"Nothing Aunt Hopes, I just caught a cold."

"Mona, don't just stand there. Come and sit beside me. Today Uncle and Aunt Hopes are here to talk about your engagement with their son, Jason Hopes." called out her mother.

"What engagement? Mom, I am just 18. I don't want to marry so soon. On top of that, to someone, I don't know."

"First come and sit down, we can talk about it later, " her mother muttered while pulling and making her sit beside her.

"But...."

"Oh, Jason is here," exclaimed Mrs. Hopes.

"Like I care." murmured Mona. While Mr. Swain shot her a gaze.

"Mother, Father, Uncle, Aunt, Monalisa." Jason greeted everyone before taking a seat beside her mother.

"Why are you so late?" questioned Mrs. Hopes.

"..." I came with you ok and you told me to wait outside. Jason exclaimed in his heart. Still, he didn't say anything.

"Well, since you said about not being stranger. Both of you can spend a month and then get married after a month." Simon (Aka-Mr. Hopes) said leaving no space for argument.

"Umm...excuse me. But no one asked for my opinion, whether I want to marry him or not." Said Mona.

"How dare you! Why do we need your permission? We are your parents, so we have the right to decide whom you will marry." shouted Mr. Swain.

"But it's my life," Mona shouted back.

"Seems like she needs some time to adjust. And understand things. We will take our leave now, but will return in 3 days to know your answer." said Mrs. Hopes.

"Sure" replied Mr. Swain.

Though, Mr and Mrs. Hopes said they will return in 3 days, seems like our lead Jason is a little impatient since he just popped up the very next morning.

"Morning, Mrs. Swain, can you please call Monalisa down?" He asked as he entered the house.

"Sure why not." Mrs. Swain replied while moving upstairs to call her.

While waiting, Jason was thinking about last month, when his father called him to his study, after which he had decided that he needed to make her agree to marry him as soon as possible.

"Why are you here?" asked Mona. Which bought him back to reality and he realised that she is standing in front of him.
