Reality Check

It has been a year since i agreed to live with Aiden. Even though he has been busy most of the time he always dedicated a week for us. I have never seen someone so busy that he couldn't live in his own house but honestly i have no complains even though i miss my old life, working at the diner and Jennifer, i had to stand by my mate.

"Aiden, i heard the cooks say that the Alpha King will be going to the annual meeting", i told him as we were having breakfast, we had just returned from our vacation. And i begged him to at least stay for breakfast before going to the pack house where he had to work. He said i was a distraction and based on how our weeks are usually spent, i believe him. He is never able to put his hands off me. I just wish we could get over this. "Aiden, this could be the opportunity we have been waiting for. We could ask for his blessing then get back and prepare our mating ceremony. Aiden did y-", "I heard you the first time Zebrine!", he shouted making me flinch. He always reacts this way whenever i ask too much, something about loosing control of his wolf's temper. I know it's a wolf thing and i should be understanding as a Luna but it was getting on my nerves and i just couldn't take it anymore. "I think you should go", i suggested taking my coffee with me as i went to the bedroom. I heard the front door being slammed shut and a certain part of me wished that he had run after me instead but we have been doing that for ages.

I was about to get into the shower when the pain started. I always had such cramps like pain but in the beginning they only happened at night but this time around it was broad day light and it was super painful that i had to call Beta Cade, he answered on the first ring as he usually did. "It's happening... please help me", that was all i could say before loosing consciousness. "This is insane Aiden. You are hurting her. You need to stop", i heard Beta Cade shout as my senses started to kick back in. "Stay the fuck out of it", Aiden shouted back anger clearly dominating his tone. "She is my Luna, Aiden!", Beta Cade replied then someone walked in the room. I opened my eyes and saw a woman walking close to them, i was not at our house. "Where am i?", they seemed startled at the fact that i was awake. "Hey baby, you are at the pack hospital, you experienced heat", Aiden said searching my eyes. He pulled me in a hug, it felt good being in his arms, then i saw the glare on the woman, i didn't know her. "Are you the doctor?", i asked her and i could have sworn she rolled her eyes at me. What was her problem? "Sorry baby, this is Blair, she is my friend from training", Aiden said avoiding my eyes, he looked nervous and i didn't know why. "Oh! It's nice to meet you Blair, welcome to you our pack", i said with a smile that i could master at the moment considering i still felt weak. "Baby, you need to rest, let's leave you to it. I will come see you later ok?", he said kissing my forehead. Beta Cade hesitated for a moment then smiled at me before leaving but it didn't reach his eyes. Something was wrong, i was going to find out about it.

It's the third day since i was admitted to the hospital, Aiden never came back. It hurt and i needed to see him. When i was discharged i marched to the pack house, i noticed people looking at me all weird, i didn't care. I was almost at the Alpha floor when the pain kicked in, i took a breath and continued walking up the stairs. I started hearing moans coming out of one of the rooms, i remembered Aiden telling me it was his office. I walked faster, as the pain increased, i needed his help. I opened the door the same time my pain got intense and my jaw almost hit the ground. "What the fuck!", i shouted the same time i lost consciousness.

I woke up at my parent's house with an angry Boris pacing back and forth out living room. "Dad? What's going on?", i asked and instead of answering i was pulled to hug by my mother. "This is all my fault. I should have listened to you and stayed in the human territory", Boris said looking guilty, then i remembered seeing them, his eyes, he looked at her like she was his whole world. He had never looked at me like that. "Honey, it's not your fault and you know that. You couldn't have known that she would be mated to that awful man", my mother said between sobs. "Mum, the pain, he said it was the heat caused by the fact that he couldn't mark me yet until the Alpha King gave us his blessing. He said that i am human and that is forbidden for Alphas to have human mates. Is it true? Is any of it true?", i felt the tears fall from my eyes. Boris looked at me in the eyes and before he could say anything someone barged in the house. It was Aiden, he was panting as if he ran for miles. "I need to talk to my mate, in private", he said with his eyes glowing. It was his wolf. "I will be fine mum", i whispered. When they left us behind, i looked at him and he did the same. "I was not part of this, i tried to tell him to stop but he shut me out and i didn't know what to do. You are my mate and i love you. I would do anything for you", he pleaded his eyes watering. "Anything?", i asked between sobs knowing what i was about to ask was something unheard of. "Anything, tell me", "I want you to give him back control and no matter what i ask of him, i need you to promise me that you will not intervene or go against his wishes. Can you do that?". As if he could sense it, he nod his head then kissed the hell out of me. "It was an honour being your mate Zebrine. I love you", he said as i whipped a tear from his face. "I love you too".
