Flying among the clouds

Fu Jie didn't wanna lose any more face so he copied the posture of the twins when they had climbed on top of the sprinting wolf. He leaped up, hoping that he'd also be able to climb on top of it without embarrassing himself for once, and he really succeeded, maybe a bit more than he had expected. He had used too much energy once again and as a result, he flew a few useless feet above the wolf and had to wait to land on top of it.

Ah Lu who was supposed to be the last person to laugh at him suddenly chuckled as he asked, "Has Brother Xia never learned how to control your spiritual energy?"

Fu Jie coughed twice, trying his best to look as calm as possible, "I have never needed to control my energy."

The twins laughed as a response and Senior martial brother Dai also climbed on top of the sprinting wolf shortly after.

Now that the four of them were already sitting on top of it, The sprinting wolf that had lowered itself to help them climb stood back up and Fu Jie wondered if nobody else was gonna ride along with them.

Ah Bai was a smart girl and with just a look, she was able to tell what this brother Xia wanted to ask, "We are already four. It won't be comfortable if someone else joins us."

Fu Jie looked at the girl with a flabbergasted expression and then glanced at the empty space on top of the wolf. He wanted to say that it was a waste of space and more people could fit in but when he looked at the other sprinting wolves, he decided to say nothing since there were enough sprinting wolves to accompany all of them even if only two people decided to climb on top of one.

The other disciples also climbed on top of different sprinting wolves. Zheng Qiang and Chen Qiao were sharing one sprinting wolf while Senior martial sister Yao and Senior martial sister Xu were sharing another. Elder Dayu and Elder Fang from the Jade pavilion shared one wolf along with another girl who belonged to the jade pavilion sect. The leftover disciples also climbed on top of the sprinting wolves and just as Fu Jie had expected, there were enough sprinting wolves here to accommodate all of them. After everyone had taken a seat some sprinting wolves remained as extras and were left behind.

"Hold on tight!" Ah Bai warned and Fu Jie instantly regretted not listening to her when the wolf started moving and he was almost thrown off from its back. If it wasn't for senior martial brother Dai, who had caught him on time, he really would have directly been thrown off from its back like a freaking piece of paper.

"Be careful," Senior martial brother Dai warned and Fu Jie nodded as he clutched on tightly to the fur of the wolf.

The sprinting wolf, just as the name suggested, was supposed to be running on the ground, or at least, according to Fu Jie, they were supposed to be on the ground. However, after running a few meters, the wolves suddenly leaped up and started running among the clouds.

Fu Jie couldn't help but be amazed by this. It was obviously his first time experiencing something like this and he'd be lying if he said it didn't feel amazing. It was amazing... As long as he didn't look down, it was amazing, but sadly, he glanced down, and just as he did, his whole body tensed up and he could no longer even breathe properly, almost wanting to cry and curse on the spot.

Fu Jie gulped as he chanted,

Don't look down.

Don't look down...

Don't you dare look down!

Riding on top of the sprinting wolf was a lot more comfortable than riding on a sword, however, Fu Jie still hated it just as much as he hated riding on top of a sword. The reason he hated both types of transportation was simple: Because he was afraid of heights!

He suddenly felt his stomach acting up again and he tried his best not to puke this time.

You can hold it in.

You can hold it in!

Just freaking hold it in!

Ah Lu looked a bit worried and yet at the same time looked to be amused as he asked, "Are you okay, brother Xia?"

Ah Bai chuckled as she saw him, "It can't be that brother Xia had never ridden a sprinting wolf before, is it?"

Fu Jie coughed twice as he didn't bother opening his eyes when answering, "I haven't."

Out of the twins, Ah Bai was more of a bully than her docile innocent brother so when she heard this, she broke out laughing and couldn't help but mock Fu Jie.

"Brother Xia, have you ever even seen one before this?"

Fu Jie was a bit embarrassed but lying was not going to help him so he still ended up saying the truth, "I haven't."

Ah Bai stopped laughing as she asked another question, "Have you ever heard of one before this?"

Fu Jie shook his head once again, "I haven't."

"Impossible! How could you not have heard about them?!" Ah Bai wasn't even mocking him anymore, she was genuinely shocked at how clueless this man was.

"White-masks are not from around here." Senior martial brother Dai suddenly spoke up and Fu Jie turned his head to look at the man who had an unfazed expression that looked to be both mature and calm.

"But they can't be that dumb, can they?" Ah Bai asked.

"Who the hell are you calling dumb?" Fu Jie snapped as he finally opened his eyes only to glance down once and close his eyes again in fear.

Senior martial brother Dai sighed, "Ah Bai, mind your manners."

Ah Bai pouted but said nothing as she crossed her hands and sat down obediently.

Ah Lu was the one who spoke up this time as he curiously looked at Fu Jie, "Does brother Xia really not know anything?"

Fu Jie nodded, "I lost my memories."

"Is that so..." Ah Lu seemed to have suddenly gained sympathy for Fu Jie as he spoke, "Then let me help you."

"Help me?"

Ah Lu bobbed his head up and down enthusiastically even though Fu Jie who had his eyes closed couldn't see it, "I am called Ah Lu and this is my sister Ah Bai. We are Elder Dayu's servants. The one sitting behind you is Senior Martial brother Dai Xiaobo. He's the first disciple under Elder Dayu. Brother Zheng Qiang is the second disciple and Senior martial sister Luo is the third. Sister Yao Meirong and Sister Xu Lifen joined around the same time and Chen Qiao who joined after them is the sixth disciple under Elder Dayu. There are now seven disciples under Elder Dayu including you."

Fu Jie couldn't help but open his eyes and pay attention to what the little boy was saying. This boy was a lot more useful than Bai Ling, Luo Lijuan and Chen Qiao combined. Not only was he more helpful, but he was a lot more polite and Fu Jie instantly found himself liking this boy more. Like always, children were really a lot better than adults!

Ah Bai, "Why do you talk so much?! He'll figure it out on his own."

Of course, there were expectations and not all children were better than adults. Ah Bai, for one, was both useless and would rather laugh at you when you fell down than help you stand up.

Suddenly Fu Jie frantically looked around and counted the number of people on top of the other Sprinting wolves.

He frowned as he noticed that there was someone missing, "Where did Senior martial sister Luo go?"

Ah Lu, "Senior martial sister went ahead of us. She is probably already there."

"Already there? Are the eastern mountains that close?"

Ah Lu looked a bit confused as he asked, "Eastern mountains? Why would she go all the way there?"

"Eh?" It was only now that Fu Jie realized once again, he had no idea where they were going. Luo Lijuan had only told him they were heading east and since he only knew about eastern mountains, he thought that's going to be their destination. It was stupid of him to simply assume that but with no information given, it wasn't like he could assume something else.

Ah Lu tilted his head as he responded, "We are heading towards Yuexing city. Does brother Xia really not know?"

Fu Jie shook his head as he waited for the little cute boy to give some more information.

"Yuexing is a city located between Dayu mountain and Eastern mountains. We are going over there to check out the recent incidents that had been reported."

Ah Bai didn't seem to like the fact that her brother was helping Fu Jie out, but she wasn't able to do anything except puffing out her cheeks and folding her arms as she glared at her brother and Fu Jie.
