BUTTERFLY EFFECT

Linda kept daydreaming about Charles, she started loving him, his character and smell. One fateful day, he called her over to his place. Getting there, she sat as he started talking to her, "I'd want you to be my girlfriend". "Why?", she asked. He smirked as he opened the tasty plate of fried rice and chicken he got. "Come and join me", he jokingly told her. Linda in her shyness turned down the offer.

After the meal, they both decided to play the truth and dare game. It became so fun that when it got to Linda's turn to dare him, she dared for a kiss. He leaned towards her, dragged the chair close to him, placed his hand behind her neck and slowly placed his lips on hers. She felt the tastiness of the rice, the softness of his lips and the warmth of his body. The kiss was a memorable one that even after he removed his lips, she could still feel it.

The butterflies came alive, Linda became in love with Charles. "Kim, I kissed Charles, it was so nice", she said as Kim her roommate asked her where she went to. "Ehn, you don't mean it, you mean you kissed the shy Charles that came to our hostel to share church pamphlets? wow, how was it? was he good at it?", Kim sat on the bed, ready to hear gist. "Omo, I loved it, be like say I don dey love this guy o. You know he's cute, religious and calm. He seems to be the perfect guy for me". "Okay na, if he makes you happy, go for it", Kim said with a smile.

Days passed and Linda couldn't get her mind off the kiss. Her phone beeped, alas! a message from Charles. They had stopped communicating for some days due to school stress. "Hi, my baby, how are you doing?". Linda blushed so hard as she replied. After the texting marathon, he popped the question again, "will you be my girlfriend?". It took a while for her to breathe, she was shocked to the bone. Truly, they had shared a kiss but a relationship is another ball game entirely. "Why should I be your girlfriend?", she asked. " If you become my babe, I'll make sure you get tired of love, I'll feed you love every moment, the moment I saw you, I knew you were the one. Give me a chance and I'll wife you at the end" , the message gave her a sense of belonging in his life. She had fallen deeply in love.

Linda never gave a direct reply to his proposal. Days went by and they kept communicating. "Kim, hurry up, let's tidy up the room", they had gone to the market to get foodstuffs and things were lying on the floor of the four-cornered room. "Kpo kpo kpo", a knock was heard. "Who could that be?", she asked Kim who was already smiling sheepishly. Linda opened the door and saw Charles and his friend, Dave. After the greetings, he was offered a seat whereas, Dave had already made himself feel at home. "No, I don't need a seat", he said with his hand stuck behind his back. "Since you've entered the room, your hand hasn't left your back, what are you hiding?", Linda asked.

"...I love you", he concluded at the end of the sweetest love speech ever. "Please, be my girlfriend", he asked with all smiles as he brought forth his hidden hand. Lo and behold, it was the cake parfait she had been craving for. She felt so emotional, took the parfait, hugged and replied with a big yes. Truly, the butterflies in her tummy turned out to be real love.
