chapter 9: princess in the bird's cage

Two days has pass, Reno was sitting in the roof as triss ask in the window.

"Hey Reno, are you sure you are going to the east side?"

"Yeah, the old man said we need to rescue his granddaughter in exchange for the weapon I need."

After the failure in night owl's base. The old man wish to rescue his daughter from kiriko.

What Alex think of kiriko was he was a failure. He was abuse husband. He always ask for a fight and He even made a lots of enemies including the old man as he and kiriko always fought.

But tragic happens, Alex's only daughter was killed in the clash between the sharp fangs and black scorpion.

This makes Alex to be furious to kiriko as he blames him for everything. But kiriko didn't even cared about his dead wife and decided to take Shukla with him to the east side.

Of course, the old man rejected him and start beating each other up.

Unfortunately Alex was struck with bad luck. On the way home. Kiriko took his granddaughter with him to the east side.

This makes the old man very furious causing him to be taken by the night owls. As he revealed as a mechanic.

"Well I hope that things go well but be careful Reno."

"I know and don't worry, once I returned. I'll introduce the old man to you when we get back."

As the two of them gave a goodbyes. Reno went to Alex who was waiting for him in the slams.

In the middle of the day, Reno and Alex was in the coffee shop. Most people was different from other people due to their distinctive animal ears and tail.

This people are half breeds of the east side in the lawless city.

Unlike the other district in the city. The east side where the sharp fang's territory located was more different from the other.

Most of the half breeds have smiles in their faces making Reno doubt if this is a lawless city.

Looking at across the road where the store called tiger's plain.

It's was the store that Reno and Alex trying to rob. And also, one of the places where the peoples are trying to avoid.

Unlike other stores where pack of people. The tiger's plain was more like a haunted building due to lack of people.

But what people are trying to avoid was the owner of the building.

His name was kiriko, the bastard who stole the old man's grandchild and also the one who killed his wife from crossfire.

As Alex look at the store. He couldn't help but gritted his teeth as bad memories was coming for him.

Reno was patted the shoulder of the old man said.

"Stay calm old man."

As Alex became calm, he then said.

"Thank you re-."

Before he could even continued. Something came out from the door and landed in the streets.

This person was Shukla, Alex one and only granddaughter.

She got bruise and wounds on her face making Alex to almost want to confront kiriko.

But Reno stops him.

Before he could even ask. The huge man who holding a large stick came out the door.

When the people saw this man. Everyone turned a blind eyes as they tried to walk in different direction.

They knew how hot head the guy was. Moreover Alex who saw his face couldn't but to gritted his teeth.

What Reno and Alex's plan was to wait until kiriko left and take Shukla with them. Alex knew the Kiriko was a drunk guy who wants to drink alcohol all day long.

And as expected, kiriko was drunk making Alex to almost explode as he saw his granddaughter, looks like he was abuse.

When both of them saw him, Alex look at him with furious gaze.

"You have guts to leave the store Shukla."

"Dad, am so-"

Kiriko didn't even listen as he hit Shukla with a large wood.

This cause Shukla to cough in blood. As kiriko continued.

"Listen brat! You are under my care so behave like a obedient daughter! Otherwise you will never see that old man ever again!"

As Shukla cries, everyone pity him.

Reno was the same too, but it wasn't time. But as he turned to the old man. He was already left.

This makes reno to look at the different direction and saw the old man in the back of kiriko.

Shukla, who saw his old man was surprised.

As kiriko was confused. Alex spoke.

"Oh? Is this how you treat your daughter you piece of garbage?"

"Wha-?"

Alex didn't let him continued as Alex gave a strong punch in his face.

This .makes everyone to be surprised as how the human entered their territory. But when they saw him with his iron spike gauntlet.

They knew who this old man was because of his fame.

Of course, Reno didn't knew it but he will find out someday.

This makes Reno to face palm as he said.

"Ah shit."

Looking at the situation, Reno knew that things will get into messy as he decided sneakily went to the store undetected.

When Shukla look at her grandfather. She starts cry and said.

"Grandpa."

Looking at the bruise face of his grand daughter. He then smiled as said.

"Hello dear."

But before they could even huge each other. Kiriko stood up from the street as he glaring at him.

"Alex! How dare you came here?!"

"And how dare to hit my granddaughter!"

As Alex wears his iron spikes gauntlet. He then charge kiriko and start beating each other.

This makes everyone to be panic as the two continued brawling in the streets. They knew how strong kiriko was but the old man was a monster. Who fought in the war when the city was being invaded.

Meanwhile, Reno was busy looting the shop as his bag was almost heavy from carrying.

"Hohoho, to think that the requirements I need was truly here was a blessing."

As Reno pack everything he needs for his new compound bow. He then look at the direction where the two are fighting.

"I wonder how did Alex knew that kiriko has this minerals."

As Reno was curious, he then throw it to the back of his head as he quietly left the store.

When Reno has finally got outside the store, he saw that everything in the street looks like a mess.

Although it's a miracle that the sharp fangs group wasn't here yet, the people was starting to be anxious causing Reno couldn't help but to twitching his lips.

He knew that the old man was strong but not this strong.

As kiriko was thrown to the wall, the old man who was blooded all over his body spoke.

"3 years ago. Rina told me that he met a great guy. But I never thought that this great guy she was spoken off will killed her one day in the middle of the fight. And yet, all you did was fucking watch."

As the old man was looking at him with furious gaze. Kiriko didn't say a word even though his body looks like a mess,

Although he was injured, he listen to Alex as he couldn't say anything and Alex continued.

"Tell me bastard, what does it feel to lose your child in front of you? The one who's light was taken away? The one you cherish? And the one who gave your life for."

As the old man finished, kiriko then added.

"It feels bitter."

What kiriko said was true.

Kiriko wasn't a great husband or even a good father. He always blame himself for the day that Rina died.

And when Alex threatened him that he will take his child. He became afraid.

He couldn't bared it if his child was taken from him so he took his child, it's also the dat where Alex was taken by the night owls.

"Am take the child you failed to take care and I won't need your permission."

As Alex walk away from kiriko. His heart was shattered but there is nothing he could do.

When Alex finally arrived, Alex looks at his granddaughter who was huging his grandfather with tears.

This makes the old man smiled a bit as he huges her back.

"Should we returned Alex?"

"Yeah."

As the three left the east side of the lawless city. Reno look back at the district as he followed the two from the back.

Little did they know, someone was watching them in the empty build as she spy at Reno.

"I never thought that the king's bastard son was here."

As the woman commented, the man who has a lion ears and tailed ask.

"Are you going to meet him you're highness?"

As the woman only shook her head. She then continued to look at Reno for a while and said.

"Not yet, I'll just going to watch him until he can finally use mana or his bloodline. For now. Am going to watch him over."

As the half breed lion named Leo bowed his head.

The mysterious womman only smiled and said.

"Grow stronger my little rigid."
