Chapter 12

Vin pulled his arm far back with as much power his current body could muster with his entire body creaking loudly. At this moment he did not care one bit. He aimed at King with hate and rage and with all his might threw his spear.

However, just as the spear left his hand, he felt something ruthlessly slamming into him, knocking him aside. Vin struggled to breath with the wind knocked out of him. The trajectory of the spear altered slightly as it whooshed with great speeds grazing the left side of the cheek of King.

After decapitating the alpha wolf, king just stood unmoving. Veins worming across his face, his eyes eerily red.

Vin struggled as he looked up to see what had rammed into him. A muscular looking goblin stood over him, looking at the downed Vin with condescending eyes. "BRUTE!". The goblin lifted his head and screamed as he threw his arms in the air, flexing his biceps.

Vin saw this opportunity and charged at the muscular goblin Brute, intending to at least deal some damage. Vin was midair about to connect with his attack until he felt another force knock into him, once again throwing him back on the ground.

This time Vin could no longer pick himself up. His body shook as he lay there, lifting his head up with effort, trying to get a look at what struck him. Standing beside Brute was a much slimer goblin. Compared to Vin, his figure was much leaner. He looked at Vin with a grin on his face. Almost as if everything that was happening was all within calculations.

The goblin looked over his shoulder, looking at their leader who had not moved even after killing the wolf. There was a glow in his eyes, but it vanished just a quickly as it came.

I have everything. I am the leader, the king of the group of goblins below. I call all the shots, and yet why does it still feel incomplete?

I know exactly why.

When I first noticed him, it was back when I first felt existence. He had stopped walking when those three goblins decided run from the hulking goblin. Weaklings who did know the measure of their own strength. Weaklings who succumb to fear. How stupid. Getting eaten and burned by that thing was not punishment enough.

Looking at him stop, he looked like he intended to run as well, he seemed just as stupid as those three. So why, why did he suddenly change so much? That first kill was supposed to be mine.

I stood at the front line, I fought with all the glory and all the courage. All that Vin did was hide and run around before finding an opportunity to deliver the killing blow. An opportunity I created when I drove the beast into a corner forcing it to run from me. It was all ME!

Fine, his fighting style, although cowardly, I could use a goblin like him in my ranks. He just needed to fall in line like the rest of the weaklings. Although not as weak as the others, he is still very much coward, and his strength is still needed in my ranks.

The marks on my face proved my weakness at that time. But it also proved how much stronger and stronger I can and will get from there then on. Nothing will stop me. I will eventually climb up and kill the fat blob and finally become the true king of the goblins.

I finally understand the reason for my existence. To rule over all the goblins, to bring them all under me. That is why I have donned the title and name. Not just as a constant remind of my ambitions and goals but a true testament to my destiny.

If so, then why, why does Vin want to bring me down, why does he want to kill me when all I want to do is bring them all along with me to greatness? Why, did he leave without my permission? Why, WHY CAN'T HE JUST FALL IN LINE LIKE THE REST OF THEM?!

He wants my throne. Ever since the first time he barked out orders I felt something boil in me. I felt a threat I had never felt before. Not even standing as I faced the wolf beast for the first time. Not even when I received that attack which threatened to take my life.

I probably should have ended him there and then.

Mm, yes, I understand now, it is all part of it, isn't it? There will always be obstacles on the path of the king, and Vin is one such obstacle. Yes, I finally understand. All I need to do is cut down those obstacles. Kill him and take all that power for myself. Yes, that's it, this was all meant to be mine. They are all to be part of the greater power that's meant to be mine, and I'm going to take it all.

Weaving and dodging the strikes of a four-meter white snake, I counter the attacks of the beast without much difficulty. The snake was riddled with cuts all over, dying its beautiful white scale blood red. There is not much joy in the joy in the battles here anymore.

It is probably time to move ahead for much more glorious battles. I decapitated the snake with a large strike. I granted it mercy. Mercy only a king such as I can grant.

Just as I was about to take my guards and move back to base, I heard fighting up ahead. With haste I made my way towards the location and the sight that greeted me made me smile. There he stands, the major obstacle in my path as the king. Vin.

He was battling a pack of wolves but, he seemed different. Why isn't he running? Where is cowardly tactic? Why is he like this? He is grinning and I know that look. That same feeling of enjoying the battle. He is evolving, ever since the first time I noticed him, he has done nothing but evolve. Even now he seems much more different from the first time.

As I continued to watch I felt that same threat I felt back then. He skillfully dispatched two of the wolves without losing his grin. It was beautiful. The more I watched the more I felt rage. Such talent and yet he refuses to fall in line.

He has killed the white wolf but not without heavy injuries. He may have let his guard down. As I continued to stand in place, I suddenly began to feel eerily calm.

Holding my axe to my chest, I walked out from behind the corner and began to walk towards Vin. He had his back towards me, lifting his weapon intending to impale the beast, as I came to stand directly behind him. He seemed to not have noticed me but that does not matter. I shall grant you Mercy!

I swung my axe horizontally aiming to separate his head from his body, but he rolled out the way at the last second. He yelled something but I was much focused on the beast.

I swung my axe as I ended its life. Large amounts of energies gushing into me. That's right, all the energies were only meant to return to me. I stood there relishing in that intoxicating feeling as I reaffirmed my resolve. Even after he tried to kill me just now, but that is fine, I forgive him.

I am a king after all.
