Chapter 18: Promotion

Zayn floated amidst the cascade of colours as the voices became more and more clearer to his ears.

"Have you contacted the holders of the Seeds yet?" An ethereal voice boomed. Zayn grunted.

Seeds? What were those? He thought.

"No. We haven't begun to make contact with them yet, but I assume that all the seeds that have chosen their hosts must have completed the assimilation process. I suggest we move on to the next stage." Another voice replied. Zayn found this one to be strangely female sounding.

It had a certain allure that Zayn found so fatally attractive. He had never heard a better sounding voice in his life! And he doubted he ever would!

"These weak mortals disgust me. Why do we even bother with them?" Zayn found this voice particularly annoying to his ears. It sounded lofty and arrogant, and it kind of reminded him of himself.

He sighed.

"Hmph. Your arrogance is borderline annoying. Really, I don't even know why someone like you is the Primogen of Fate. It's such a terrible experience." An ancient voice sounded. Zayn could feel some frustration in this voice's tone.

And strangely enough, Zayn agreed with him.

But what was this Primogen of Fate? Some kind of title?

"Now, Now. We have more pressing matters to attend to. You too, eavesdropper. This concerns you as well." A sinister voice declared. Immediately the voice said that, Zayn could feel unimaginable pressure coming towards him from all directions.

Buzz! Bzzz!

The warbled voices grew louder in intensity, and Zayn soon found himself roaring in agony while his senses grew incredibly distorted in the dimensional cascade of colours.

He felt as if he was everywhere, and nowhere at the same time.

If this continued, he was sure that his mind was going to explode!

"S-stop! Stop! Stop it, you bastards! Rarrgh!" He growled.

"Ah, the little ant thinks he's so tough, isn't he? Don't get all cocky because you're bound to an Alpha level Seed! That ain't worth shit in my eyes, you know?" The sinister voice stated mockingly.

"Stop it, Soul Primogen. That's enough." The ethereal voice commanded.

"Sigh. Killjoy. You live this time, runt. Wonder how you'll fare though in a few years from now..." The sinister voice stopped.

"Oh. You have Soul Celestial blood in you. Mm. This'll have to do for now. Too much and you won't be able to take it." The voice continued.

Immediately after, Zayn felt a cooling sensation wash all over him, as opposed to the fiery heat that almost ravaged his brain earlier; causing a numbing sensation in his mind.

[A Celestial Runic Seal has been implanted in you.]

[You have received a Bloodline Enhancement.]

[Your Soul Celestial Bloodline has reached a new threshold.]

[You have unlocked the following abilities; «Soul Chain» and «Astral Projection»]

[Your physical stats have increased.]

He let out a cool sigh, and slowly opened his eyes...

Outside the enormous cocoon like object Zayn was encased in, two figures could be seen flashing at full speed, causing blurry images to clash against each other from time to time.

At a corner of the brightly lit up space, a white haired boy with shimmering crimson eyes glanced at the two figures while constantly channeling his genetic energy to initiate his recovery.

The figures continued to clash against each other when all of a sudden, a loud crash was heard.

Bang!

One of the two figures was hit against the walls of the room, causing huge cracks to appear on the surface of the wall amidst a cloud of dust.

The other figure rushed at the cocoon floating in the air with an astonishingly fast speed.

"I told you before. You pathetic weaklings don't stand a chance against me. I've crushed your spirit. And now, your body will be next." The humanoid bat demon's lifeless voice traveled around the cave like space.

Screech!

The loud cry of a bird resounded in the air.

"What's that?" The man looked around in visible confusion, but his wings still flapped towards the cocoon, accompanied by a skyrocketing amount of killing intent.

Bang!

An antimatter beam crashed into the man back, causing him to fiercely tilt forward and crash a few meters away from the cocoon.

"You idiots don't get it, do you? Your end is near. And some cyborg bird can't change that fact. Now watch, as I crush you all to dust!" Flapping his enormous bat wings, the man rushed at the Darklight Eagle and landed a ferocious punch on its jaw.

The eagle crashed down with a sharp screech.

Smirking, the man pointed a finger at the fallen bird, and a dark red mass of energy the size of a ping pong ball floated two inches away from it, directly aimed at the bird.

The mass of energy flew forward with a loud whoosh, increasing in size as it drew closer and closer to the bird.

Bang!

A loud explosion ensued a second later, amidst a huge pile of dust and rubble.

"Now, now. I don't want you to wreck my friend's new ride. That would pose quite the problem." A lazy voice rang in the man's pointy ears.

As the dust receded, Lynn's silhouette came into view, the right sleeve of his uniform nowhere to be seen, and his hand letting out faint smoke. It seemed he had deflected the blast with his hand. A faint smirk appeared on his face.

"Oh. I didn't know you could talk. Seems like I underestimated you. Perhaps you might prove to be a little bit of a challenge." The man smirked.

"A challenge? No, no. You won't last a minute against me." Lynn smacked his lips.

"How arrogant. How about I bring you down from your high horse! Rampaging Lance!" A dark green spear made out of condensed energy spun around dexterously in the man's hands.

The man's huge black wings flapped as he flew towards Lynn.

"Is this all you have? Quite the pathetic performance for someone of your skill level. The openings you leave behind when making your attacks are gaping. I can't even waste my time with you." Lynn's eyes gleamed.

A second later, his silhouette disappeared from the man's vision, leaving behind a vague shadowy blur that rushed towards the man at high speeds.

Crack!

A ferocious kick landed on the man's hand, causing a few of his bones to break. But before he could get any respite, Lynn grabbed his hand and twisted it violently. Holding the man's hand tightly, Lynn swung his body in a brutal fashion, demonstrating such raw power in contrast to his fairly small physique.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Such violent display of primitive brutality from someone as cool and collected as Lynn was clearly shocking to see. But not for long, as an even more torturous display was in store for the demon like man, as a huge hand the size of a boulder slammed on the man's back just shortly after Lynn had brutalized him.

"Don't forget about me bucko! You sure talk big, but I guess you're just a pathetic Beta with a self-absorbed delusion of grandeur! Time to fuck off your high horse!" Smashing him a couple of times with his enormously sized hand, Kai taunted the man.

"Sheesh! I sure hate using my ability like this, but I've got no doubts about its efficiency." Kai muttered as his hand reverted back to normal, as did the rest of his body, turning back into his blonde haired appearance.

"Huh, I feel like Luffy. Hey Lynn, wanna end this guy's pathetic life for good?" He smugly pointed at the lifeless man, whose fingers unconsciously twitched from time to time.

"Nah. He's too pathetic for me to finish off. Why don't you give it a shot?" Lynn wrung his fingers in disdain.

"You know, for someone that doesn't really like talking much in the presence of other people, you seem very passionate. Exactly what I like in a man." Kai winked at Lynn.

Lynn stared at him with an emotionless glare, then broke out into a small smile.

"I'm beginning to think that your powers are beginning to warp your little brain." Lynn said casually.

"Oh my God! Was that a joke? If that was, let me tell you, it was really, really bad. And speaking of powers, how's Zayn doing?" Kai and Lynn stared at the cocoon floating in the air, with faint sparks of lightning trailing around its surface.

Just then, a dark voice sounded from behind them.

"Turning your back towards your enemy in the midst of battle. And you've not even finished the job yet. You underestimate me a bit too much, or you're just some very arrogant brats. Either way, you all are—going—to—die!" As he said the last part of his sentence, an even more murderous aura surged from his body.

"Oh shit! Is he undergoing a promotion?! Right now! We're fucking screwed." Kai and Lynn quickly went into battle mode.

This...was going to be a long fight.

Oh no! Where's Zayn! We need you man! This guy's experiencing a freaking power boost!
