Kalyavan

"What happened Karna? Is there any problem? "

Aryan asked as he already had a bad premonition.

But instead of answering his question directly, Karna actually kneeled down on the ground and put his bow in front of Aryan.

"Please forgive me Your majesty Aryan, I was unsuccessful in perform my duty as the Senapati of Udra kingdom. I have failed your trust. "

Hearing this, Aryan immediately helped Karna stand up on his feet and said calmly.

"Listen Karna, I have full trust in your strength and loyalty. So stop blaming yourself and tell me exactly what happened here in detail. "

"Around two hours ago from now, Magadh's army suddenly launched a guerrilla attack on us to rescue Jaraasandh. But it certainly wouldn't have been much of a problem to deal with them. Thinking so, I rushed to the front to confront the enemy. And I saw that a stranger was leading Magadh's guerrilla army. It was the first time I had seen him on the battlefield.

However I didn't pay much attention to it, thinking that I can easily defeat him. But contrary to my expectations, he was very strong and if I'm not wrong then he was even slightly stronger than Jaraasandh. More importantly, just like Jaraasandh, no matter what astra I used it was unable to defeat him.

And while he engaged me in a fight, the guerrilla army managed to rescue Jaraasandh from our camp. Although I wanted to stop them from escaping but under the combined assault of Jaraasandh and that stranger I couldn't do much. "

Karna explained, his head bowed down in guilt.

"Interesting, this unknown warrior, did he tell you his name? "

Aryan asked thoughtfully because this time around he really had no guesses about who could it be.

"No, Your majesty, he didn't tell me his name himself. But yes, when Jaraasandh and that guy were retreating I heard Jaraasandh call him Kalayan or something like that. "

Karna answered hesitantly .

"Wast it Kalyavan? "

"Yes, that's right. It was Kalyavan. "

Aryan's expression grew more serious upon hearing the name "Kalyavan." The sudden appearance of Kalyavan, a formidable warrior associated with Magadh, raised numerous questions and concerns.

Aryan had read stories of Kalyavan in his previous life and this unexpected encounter was troubling.

"Kalyavan," Aryan muttered under his breath. "He's not to be underestimated. He's known for his skills in warfare and his relentless pursuit of his foes."

Aryan paced back and forth in his chamber, deep in thought. Kalyavan's presence and his successful rescue of Jaraasandh had disrupted their plans significantly.

"Karna," Aryan began, his voice firm, "this is not your failure. You faced an unpredictable and formidable adversary. Kalyavan is not to be taken lightly. We must regroup and strategize."

"Your majesty, do you know who this Kalyavan is? "

Karna asked curiously as he noticed Aryan's worried expression.

Hearing his doubts, Aryan decided to tell him what he knew about Kalyavan in a rather solemn tone.

" Many years ago, as a result of some events, a woman named Vrka-devi decided to test the virility of Yavana's king named Gargya, who was a descendant of Saint Garg.

And when Gargya was unable to ejaculate, that women mocked him mercilessly and spread this information everywhere, for which the Yadavas insulted him. Gargya was very enraged by this insult that challenged his manhood and vowed to avenge his insult.

After a 12-year penance, Gargya finally managed to please Lord Shiva and got a boon from Mahadeva that he would get a son who would destroy the Yadavas.

Subsequently, Gargya came to Mathura, and had sex with a cowherd's daughter (gopi), but unbeknownst to him she was actually an apsara in disguise. Afterwards, thanks to Lord Shiva's boon, that gopi soon got pregnant.

And Kalayavana was the result of this union. Since during his penance, Gargya ate iron fillings that made his complexion iron-black (kāla), he named his son Kalyavan and crowned him as the new king of Yavana while he himself left for the forest.

After he reached adulthood, Kalayavana had become a powerful Yavana warrior. And he has also gotten a boon from Lord Shiva that on the battlefield, he would be undefeatable, that is, no one can kill him in a battle. "

"What? Does this mean that no one can kill Kalyavan? "

Karna exclaimed in surprise.

"Yes, it's all thanks to Lord Shiva's boon. "

Aryan sighed helplessly.

"There is one more thing I don't understand Your majesty. I don't think Udra has any enmity with Yavana kingdom. Then why is he helping Jaraasandh? "

Karna asked doubtfully.

"You should have heard of the famous saying Karna that the enemy of an an enemy is our friend."

Karna nodded in response but he was still clueless about what Aryan was trying to imply.

"Jarasandha, Kansa's father-in-law, and the ruler of Magadha has a deep enmity with Krishna. And as result he has attacked Mathura seventeen times, but he is unfortunately beaten by Krishna every time.

So Jarasandha, unable to defeat Krishna on his own, made an alliance with Kalayavana who also had an enmity with the Yadavs. Some people even say that this is one of the reasons why Krishna established Dwarka so that he could relocate Mathura's people here, away from Jarasandha and Kalyavan's constant invasions. "

Aryan's explanation shed light on the complex web of alliances and enmities that surrounded Kalyavan's involvement in Magadh's affairs. It was becoming increasingly clear that Kalyavan was acting as an ally to Jarasandha, who, in turn, had a longstanding feud with Lord Krishna and the Yadavas.

Karna absorbed this information, realizing the political intricacies at play.

But there was still one thing that Aryan didn't tell him.

In original Mahabharat timeline, Kalyavan should not be here at this point of time.

Because after the Pandavs returned back from defeating Panchal's king Drupad and helping Dronacharya take his revenge, thereby crowning Ashwatthama as the king of half of Panchala kingdom, Yudhishthir was appointed as Hastinapur's crown prince.

And just after that, Krishna's sister Subhadra who had come to Hastinapur to meet her Aunt Kunti, set off from Hastinapur to return back to Dwarka.

But unfortunately, on her way to Dwarka she was met with Kalyavan who kidnapped her on Jarasandha's advice so that he could force Krishna to come out and fight him head on.

And just yesterday morning Aryan received information that Yudhishthir's has been successfully crowned as the crown prince of Hastinapur.

So that means, Subhadra should have also left Hastinapur.
