The White Wolf

Even though the Colossal Ape's attack had missed, I was furious seeing the extent of damage on her body. If such a thing had hit her, when her defence was already so fragile, I feared Ophelia would have died on the spot. Her body was unsuited to long periods of combat and would undoubtedly break under such tremendous force.

But just where was that Ape King firing from?

I could trace it back to him, from the direction the tree came from, but that would only work if he didn't move during that time. Unfortunately, from the frost free state of the tree's fragments, I could tell he wasn't staying anywhere around here.

|[Ophelia.]| I called out, however when I looked up she was no longer there.

I found her taking shaky breaths on the frozen branch of a tree, before leaping to another, her whole body trembling.

|[Ophelia!]| I hissed in anger.

Wishing I had forced Lyra awake and brought her with me!
