A Lizard vs A Dragon, Who Wins?

Floating in the air the Golden Dragon watched on in silence as a flaming mass of fire threatened to pulverize the ground beneath her. Her wings slowed down by the second as a haze of darkness flashed by her eyes. She was tired and it was time for her to rest. Dropping lower to the ground, Azurin and Rin's soul came closer to her. "Thirty long years, I've missed you both." Reaching out her claw she tried to grab a hold of them. "I did it." A scaly smile weakly crossed her face as tears rolled down her face. "I let our child be free." She wanted them to praise her and tell her that she did a good job. They never said anything though, only staying silent until the end.

"It's...good to be home."

Holes reappeared on her wings as her power slipped away. Trying to control her fall she let gravity take her hand. The Dragon's that floated around her started to disappear one by one as all the colour in her final moments faded away. Her final flame had reached its limit and now it was time to pass it to someone else, to rekindle that flame. Xelfia was lost in her own thoughts as she saw the raging fire get closer. "What, what do I do!?!" Her breathing was speeding up, she was completely losing her cool. "Water...water first." In a daze she used the most obvious choice as a wall of water spread out around the castle covering it. Flooding the entire place she didn't care, she had to try anything.

"Xel...fia?

Watching from afar that a shaky voice filled with doubt left Xilo's mouth. Seeing her body shake uncontrollably as she did anything she could, Xilo felt a sharp pain as he realised something. "She's.. panicking." The girl he had always seen as prideful, arrogant and always calm, was freaking out. She was always someone Xilo could rely on, now though that girl was gone. It didn't even seem like she heard his voice regardless of how many times he called out to her. "I don't even think all of us together can stop that." The power of a True Dragon was something he had harshly underestimated. "It's not just the power, it's the size." Stepping down from his seat Xilo heard a splash as he touched the water.

Xelfia always loved to play dumb when it came to how strong she was. After their more recent training though Xilo was positive she was the strongest person in their group. His steps shook as he got closer to Xelfia while everyone else started on a back up plan. "....I'm sorry, I didn't realise." Xilo got closer to Xelfia as his steps faltered more. Stuck in her own head Xelfia kept creating more water in an attempt to do something. "I..can't." Just like the Dragon had said she was a lowly Lizard pretending to be a Dragon. "....I ran so much in that Forest." She was weak for so long, always outclassed by every creature around her. "Humans..I hated them." It wasn't just hate, she hid the fear she had for them behind the hate.

"I'm no..Queen...just a pretender."

The blazing fire got closer as sweat ran down her scales. Looking up at it she felt her head go dizzy as she tried to get a grip on herself. "Then, I might as well fake it until the end." Raising her claws the water followed suit as it touched the sky. "A lizard and a Dragon fight." Like a tidal wave it collided with the magma head on as Astral Energy coursed through her body. "Who wins?" Like an earthquake the entire world around her shook as she was pushed back instantly. The sea of lava bit back against her ocean, refusing to give a single inch of ground. "The answer is obvious is it not?" Self doubt filled Xelfia's head like a demon in disguise. "Just like Xilo though, I won't give up." Pushing herself forward she raised the tides as she fought for her life and everyone else's.

Hearing Xelfia's whispers, Xilo felt his hands shake. Gripping his hands tighter blood spilled out of them as he made it behind Xelfia. Touching her scales, she didn't even notice him at all. "I relied on you to much." Xilo could always stay strong thanks to her being there as someone he could lean on. That was his mistake though, it was time for something he should have properly done long ago. "I'll take on everyone's burden...be their strength." Darkness flowed out of his hands and into Xelfia's body rapidly. "Until I die...or become corrupt, I'll be there." Strengthening Xelfia, Xilo resolved himself to be someone even Xelfia could lean on when she needed him the most and anyone else who would ever come into his life.

"We will take this world and make it ours."

Xelfia didn't even notice Xilo as she tried to do everything in her power to stop the Dragon's attack. "Oh?" Noticing that she was able to push it back slightly she kept the pressure on. "Please.." That only seemed to make the sea of lava more angry. In seconds it pushed back with nearly double the force. "No!!" As it got closer Xelfia realised that her water was disappearing. It was evaporating into the air from the heat. In a second she had gone from feeling like she had won only to drop down and fumble. "....Now what?" With what little water she had left, Xelfia searched through every resource she had in her body. "Nothing, absolutely nothing." She was completely out of options that could work. Her wave had crashed and burned.

"A lizard...will always lose."

She felt her mind give up, she had been defeated completely. "I...Lost again." Defeat was something she had seen too much in her life. She should have been used to it by now, it shouldn't have hurt this much. "I...tried, I did..." Crying out loud Xelfia felt powerless. "I'm nothing but a failure." Her mind attacked her body as the heat got closer to her. Her mind was breaking by the second, as she relieved all of her worst pain. "...I failed myself...and you Xilo." Tears kept coming out of her face before quickly drying. Staring up at the sun coming to incinetirate her body, Xelfia let loose a quiet whimper. "I've got nothing." Taking one last search through her body Xelfia didn't expect to find anything.

"What's that?"

A Strand of darkness that hadn't been there before floated around in her stomach. "Where did this come from?" Unsure of what it was she swam closer to it for a better look. It was a small line of darkness that was sealed shut tightly. "...This seems familiar." It had a warmth to it that she could recognize. "It feels like Xilo, just not quite." Taking a hold of it she felt her body stick to it like a vortex that refused to let go. "Whoa!" Unable to let go, Xelfia tried to pull away. It refused to let go of her no matter how hard she tugged. "Weird.." Putting more power into it she tried to escape. "Let go!" Tugging and tugging Xelfia felt the flames getting closer.

"I need to do something!"

Letting her claws grow out, Xelfia tried to tear a hole in the small darkness to break free. "Oh?" Noticing a small opening Xelfia kept scratching at it as it slowly ripped open. As the hole grew bigger it opened up into a void of darkness that swirled around in her stomach until finally freeing her. Feeling power in the spiraling abyss Xelfia backed up as it threatened to suck her in once more. "Not again!" The darkness grew wider by the second as it expanded. Trying to keep it under control Xelfia felt the flames hit her body.

"This is it..."

Her body began to burn and incinerate as her scales turned to ashes.

This one is late today.

Enjoy.
