Acheron wasn’t expecting that answer, and it threw him off so badly that if Ara’s words were the wind, they would have blown him off the ship.

“Oh,” was all he said.

Half of himself didn’t believe her -he had seen her desire in her eyes. Ara, however, didn’t seem like the kind of girl who would toy with things like these.

“Hate is a strong word. Are you sure that’s how you feel about me?” he said after a while, seeing that she wasn’t going to elaborate.

“What happened that night was a one-time thing. I had… needs, and you were there to fulfill them. You own the collar that controls me and nothing more. All I ask of you is that you honor your words and treat Lila and me well while we’re in Starfall,” Ara said, her voice beginning to crack.
