The story takes place 10 years before straw hat Luffy sets out on his adventure. Kenshin, our protagonist who is always befriending other pirates and is planning to create a grand fleet seems to have an interesting back story. What is it? Where does he come from? Why does he want to amass such a huge army and why is he so fixated on the year 1524? What will happen during that year? No one knows.
Barbaros Island, Grandline
Barbaros Island is one of the islands where pirates can wreak havoc wherever and whenever they wanted, this island is a paradise for pirates. they can kill and loot freely without fearing the Navy getting involve.
Meanwhile, inside one of the bars in Barbaros Island, a young man in his 20's was currently facing off against a pirate carrying a huge hammer.
"You dare recruit me with that meager skill of your kid?!" The pirate carrying a hammer said while swinging his huge hammer towards the young man.
Seeing the incoming hammer the young man smoothly leaned to the left easily dodging the attack, he then smiled towards the fuming pirate and said "Jack the Hammer, a pirate with an 85 million beli bounty, you would perfectly fit in my fleet so why not consider my kind offer?"
Jack scoffed and didn't even bother replying, he continued smashing his hammer towards the young man that easily dodged each of his attacks.
Noticing he couldn't hit his opponent Jack lowered his weapon and glared at the young man with the batted breath, "Why do you want to recruit me, kid?"
Seeing Jack calming down the young man smiled brightly and said, "I heard that you got "infamous" because you destroyed a Navy ship but the truth is that you save a young lady from a Navy Captain and killed him when he attempted to rape the poor young lady making the Navy target you and hence gave you an 85 million beli bounty making you instantly famous."
Jack was surprised that the young man knew his past, he stared at the young man and asked, "Who are you? and why do you know so much about me? are you my stalker?"
The young man rolled his eyes hearing Jack's last question, he approached the big guy and patted his shoulder "I already told you that I am currently looking for strong allies, and you are perfectly suited to be one of my allies."
He then took two mugs of beer and passed one to Jack, "My name is Kenshin, let's click mugs to seal the deal and become allies from now on."
*Click*
Without even waiting for Jack to reply Keshin immediately bumped his mug at Jack's and downed his beer.
"Ah! Beer tastes better if you drink it with your friends."
Jack was left speechless seeing Kenshin decide everything without his consent, he didn't know why but he felt that Kenshin was genuine at his offer and decided to agree to his one-sided for now.
Left with no choice Jack also downed his beer and glanced at Kenshin and asked, "If you're trying to create a fleet then how many pirates with higher bounty do you currently have in your fleet?"
Kenshin who sat down at one of the chairs thought for a moment as if he was counting and replied confidently, "One!"
"Huh?!"
Jack stared wide eye at Kenshin and asked again, "How many?"
Kenshin looked at him weirdly and raised his finger, "I said one"
Jack started laughing when he heard Kenshin's confirmation, "Hahaha, so if it's only the two of us then how can you create a fleet with just us two? do you even have a bounty?"
"You know Jack, everything starts from somewhere and our fleet will start with the two of us. Oh, and I also don't have a bounty."
Hearing Kenshin's reply Jack already gave up trying to understand his new companion. 'Sigh, why did I even decide to follow this weird guy? Wait, I wasn't the one who decided it but I was forced to.' Jack thought and could only sigh at his misfortune.
Seeing Jack's unenthusiastic appearance Kenshin smiled and said something that made Jack fall from his chair.
"Don't look dispirited because sooner or later we will be facing an emperor of the sea and it will surely fire you up."
Jack already started doubting his choice in life, but he couldn't afford to retreat now. he knew that base on their earlier fight that Kenshin was far stronger than he was even though he was just dodging his hammer earlier.
Kenshin suddenly patted his shoulder and said with a serious look on his face far from that happy-go-lucky expression he had earlier.
"Don't worry Jack, when the time comes that we are finally facing that bastard of a pirate I will surely slice him up nicely and let his blood flow at the graves of his victims."
Jack trembled, he could feel a terrifying aura coming out of Kenshin making him feel cold all over his body. even if he hasn't felt it before he could clearly tell that it was an unrestrained bloodlust that can make one faint.
