The entire crew of the Pearl was altogether inside Arthur's cabin, sat in chairs behind a round table.
At this moment, they were discussing how to not die in the Berserk Sea. None of them had even thought about not going inside, everyone having a different answer to why they didn't hesitate.
They were all afraid, but in the end, they were Beyonders. Every single person in the room had chosen to enter that path, a road that gave strength, but also brought madness and danger.
Death? None there wanted to die, but just as Arthur thought, death was something they would have to confront sooner or later.
Why not do so if the chance of becoming rich?
"So, I just consulted Harion, and I have a couple of news to give," Arthur said. "The treasure we are hunting has a great chance of being the Sunken Laurel."
Amanda and Jack were the only ones that knew what Arthur was talking about.
"What is that?" Lara asked, echoing the thoughts of Frank and James.
"It's a sunken ship from the Feynapotter Kingdom," Jack replied.
The Sunken Laurel was a Feynapotter's ship from more than a century in the past. It had gone to the Southern Continent, and its crew raided East Balam from all treasures they could find.
Gold, jewelry, and various valuable items were rumored to have sunken with the ship. However, it steered away from the sea route for an unknown reason, and it sunk somewhere between the Berserk Sea and Sonia Sea.
Those who believed the ship to exist told anyone who could hear that the items aboard were worth millions of pounds.
"Wow... millions of pounds," Frank whispered, quite literally drooling just thinking about that amount of money.
The rest of the room's occupants were in the same position, even Arthur. With that amount of money, even after dividing part for the crew, he would never have to worry about financial problems.
He would have enough to begin various plans. His Beyonder organization, the transformation of Tortuga, purchase of potion ingredients, magical items, books on mysticism...
If Arthur and the crew managed to find the Sunken Laurel, they would be set for life.
Well, life will be pretty short if we all end up dead due to the apocalypse, Arthur thought. He reminded himself that having money was all good so long as it was used to advance his Sequel.
Only by becoming a god would he have a chance, and only going from Above the Sequence would he truly be able to fight.
"So there's a chance we might not be entering the Berserk Sea," James said.
"Yes, it's not set in stone, but don't get your hopes up," Amanda replied. "With more than a century since the ship sunk, there must have been countless individuals searching the area between the Berserk and Sonia Sea."
"True, and if no one found anything, then it probably means the treasure ended up inside the Berserk Sea," Jack said after Amanda.
"Well the second thing Harion told me was that there were two ways to sail the sea relatively safe," Arthur said, tapping his fingers on the table. "At the sea, there a few safe passages, where the storm isn't as strong. However, safe only means that we won't die from Death's powers that contaminated the rain. We would still have to worry about the sea monsters, the waves, lightning, and whatever more it was thrown at us."
"And the second method?" Sabrina asked.
"Travel the sea through the Spirit World," Arthur replied seriously. "Harion told me how to do it, but that also comes with different problems. As I explained earlier, the barrier between the Spirit and the Real World is broken in the Berserk Sea."
"That means that Death's powers also affected that area of the Spirit World, so it would be even more dangerous than it normally is. The good part is that we won't have to worry about melting into pools of blood like in the real world, but the part is that we will have to deal with spirits and undead creatures, besides the occasional spiritual storm."
Hario told that the Black Pearl didn't have the ability to open a passage to the Spiritual World, yet, but since the barrier was broken in the location, they could take advantage of that to pass through it.
However, besides the monster and spirits, they would have to deal with if they took the second method, Death's storm also had a representation in the Spirit World. The rain the destroyed bodies in the real world was the only thing that didn't exist in the Spirit World.
Everything else, from the gales of wind, lighting across the skies, and giant waves, were all there.
Everyone there decided on the second method. Both routes were problematic, but at least they didn't have to worry about their bodies melting with the second.
With that decision, the crew went to work. Cannons were ready for when they were needed, and the crew members were all armed with guns, swords, and daggers.
None of the items were magical, but when dealing with spirits, salt and iron worked just fine when trying to kill them. As for the sea monster and other living - or undead - creatures, most things died if they took a bullet to the head.
Soon, everyone was on deck.
"Well, are you all ready?" Alex asked.
"NO!" Was everybody's asnwer.
"Will that stop you?" Arthur's sweatdropped, not expecting they would really say 'no' to his question.
"NO!"
"Them, let's go on an adventure!"
