Berserk Sea

Alex had to admit, when he made the decision to hunt for treasures, he wasn't expecting to find any. It was more of a bonding experience for the crew, and a chance to exercise their powers.

It all started at the end of February. The crew of the Black Pearl was all Beyonders, and Alex had finished digesting his potion. He hadn't bought the ingredients for his advancement, so he was still a Sequence 8 Melee Scholar.

Alex used the compass to find a way for treasure, not specifying any, just that he wanted to find one.

That was how the Black Pearl found itself on the Sonia Sea.

...

Calms seas, an easy wind, and clear blue skies. That's what Alex and the crew could see and feel that day.

The crew was bored to death. It had been three days since they entered the Sonia Sea, and by now they had left civilization behind.

There was a reason behind why there was no ship on sight, it was because the Pearl wasn't following an official route.

The captain was following whatever direction his compass pointed at. However, even Alex had his limits, and three days at sea doing nothing, with nothing happening, looking for a treasure they might not find, wasn't the idea of fun he had when he had made the decision to do so in Moonshine.

"And how are y'all studies going?" Alex asked his two companions.

"Well, I have to say I hate study time," Jack replied from the floor.

"It isn't that bad," Amanda retorted, sitting next to Alex. "I actually quite like to study the stars, and the songs captain gave me to practice my power the other day are great."

Since the crew had all become Beyonders, Alex made it mandatory the study of mysticism for everyone.

That included Sabrina.

When he wasn't using it, Alex let Sabrina take Harion with her and she would use the book to teach basic occult knowledge to the crew.

The afternoons were for James, Lara, and Frank. The evenings for Jack and Amanda.

Alex studied in the morning, and Sabrina whenever she wanted, since she didn't need to sleep. Which was actually a blessing for her Sequence, Sleepless.

"That is true, I think I would prefer to be studying right now than doing nothing here," Jack told them, facing the floor.

"I just wished something happened... At this point I would welcome someone attacking our ship," Alex commented out loud.

"I hear you, Captain," Amanda replied, fanning herself with a hat.

"Aye..." Jack mumbled, lying face down on the deck.

The teenager group was all in the kitchen, having their study time with Sabrina and Harrison.

"Hey, maybe we complained too soon..." Alex said, curiously checking his compass.

"Why is that?" Amanda asked.

"Because, if that's what I think it is, we are about to enter the Berserk Sea," he replied, looking at the compass that was pointing towards the mass of dark-gray clouds that stood above the sea some distance from them.

The Beserk Sea was called such for its storm that never ended, cutting the connection between the Nothern Continent and the Southern Continent on that route.

It was created at the end of the Fourth Epoch when Death fled to the Southern Continent and perished. 'Their' power not only affected the atmospheric weather of the sea but also filled it with monsters, disasters, and danger.

Furthermore, the barrier between the real and the spirit world was broken there, so using powers or rituals that depended on the spirit world wasn't recommended.

"Are we going there?" Jack asked with some trepidation. As someone who had experience sailing at sea, he didn't consider himself fearless, but he knew there was very little that could make him hesitate.

The Beserk Sea was one of those things, even more now as a Sailor. He could feel the unnaturalness of the storm and the sea below.

"Well, I don't know about that yet... Maybe or maybe not, I just know that there is a treasure in that direction," Alex replied carefreely.

Only he knew his carefree and confident pose was fake.

Alex was apprehensive about sailing inside the Beserk Sea. No matter how confident he seemed since transmigrating, he was in a world of madness, where almost everything had a chance of killing him, or worse.

However, being scared or apprehensive didn't change anything. Since he accepted the offer to come to the world of Lord of the Mysteries, Alex knew that the only way to survive, thrive, and live was to face the challenges head-on.

"Hm... Let's hope we don't, I don't feel like sleeping on raging waters," Amanda replied, standing from her position to warn the rest of the crew. "But if we have to, this treasure better be worth it, Captain."

"Oh, I'm sure it will be," Alex replied, glad the crew was getting comfortable enough to talk to each other with no fear.

"It's my greatest desire, after all."
