Ambush.

An ambush was the last thing the group of militants were expecting, although they have made their visit known to the others, they were not expecting them to be brave enough to launch an ambush on them.

On getting the reports, it didn't take long for gunshots to be heard rampantly as the militant have decided to attack.

Meanwhile, unfortunately for those that felt the change in the atmosphere, something more strange was happening. Those that felt cold could see ice rays appearing on their body. They were those who weren't even able to move anymore as their legs has been covered by ice rays glueing them to the ground.

Meanwhile, those that felt heat could also feel their body burning inside as some of their skin was pilling off as they scratch.

"What is this going on? I know this place was dangerous the moment we drove in," the lady from before already had her entire skin pilled off revealing her inner layer of tissue.

She cried out in pain as she fall on the floor and stopped moving.

Seeing this, the captain knows that the matter at hand was more serious than he initially think. Even his body was freezing till he activated his power.

'I can't keep this for long, so it best for me if I hurry to find who is behind all this and finish him or her off,' the captain thought as soon sprinted towards the location the first car exploded.

Meanwhile, not that far from the battleground, Shad knelt as he tried to catch his breath. "Shit... I've never consumed so much energy in using my power," he said.

Of course, the temperature change was caused by someone and that person was Shad. Shad power is called a temperature manipulator. This power allows Shad to manipulate the temperature as he wishes. However, the thing about this is that Shad could only do this to his surrounding or to anything he touches. But just now, he did touch anyone but was able to freeze most of the militants in a short time.

Of course for doing this, Shad has stressed his power to his breaking point to pull this out and after this, he was breathing heavily as sweat dropped from his face.

"It's okay, you have done a great job, I'm sure what happened right now must have traumatised their stance as we can clearly see from their reaction. We can handle it from here," Nate said and stepped forward into the battle.

The sun was slowly setting and Nate took this to his advantage.

To the others, it was almost as if Nate have disappeared in front of them. Regardless, they still proceed to fall and join the battlefield.

Meanwhile, as the captain reached the spot where one of the vehicles explode, he was surprised to see that most of the soldiers were all on the floor while there are those still standing with their guns pointing into different buildings as they shoot.

"What just happened here," the captain asked one of the soldiers who quickly replied on seeing who it is.

"We don't know, this surrounding suddenly became hot to the extent that one of the armoured vehicles caught fire and all this happened," the man said.

"Who, did you see anyone?" the captain questioned.

Just when the same soldier was about to reply, its head busted like a watermelon. It didn't stop there. A few other people's heads busted also like watermelon, splashing blood all other the captain's body.

"There they are !" One of the soldiers on top of the vehicle pointed the machine gun attached on top of the vehicle at the shadow figure he saw on top of a building and started to fire with no hesitation.

Meanwhile, others had followed up by firing in that particular direction. Even some were quick enough to set up a bazooka and loaded it before firing. These rockets weren't coming from one place.

It was coming from so many angles as they hit that same particular spot. The building top was sent crumbling when all this happened.

Meanwhile, a few of those still with the rockets, a red sword suddenly appeared out of nowhere and fly towards them, not all were able to dodge as some were stabbed in the stomach.

"Quick, pick up those launchers and fire in that direction!" the captain yelled out in command as he also started to shoot with a small pistol gun.

'Whatever is behind this mess must not be normal and I know full well that this pistol will do little to no damage on them, but this is all I have on since I wasn't expecting this to happen,' the captain thought to himself.

More heads were exploding. 'What is behind this, is this a sniper?' he wondered.

Meanwhile, the soldiers on top of the armoured tank were proving to be tough really hard. They were accurate in targeting those although the bullets were being shot randomly.

Just then, the ground starts to crack and break as some vine roots emerged and wrapped around the vehicles. The vine was pushing the vehicle backwards in an attempt to throw them over however, the cars were not just any regular car.

The materials used in making them were strong and heavy in the first place. Having a chunk of these heavy metals combined, the density of the vehicle was just too much for the vine to carry.

Soon, all most attention was shifted to the vine as its being fired from all angles.

Boom!!!

The explosive sound of the rockets could be heard as they hit the vines. Some of it was being destroyed but the problem was that they are still regenerating and this was being done at a fast pace.

One of the vines that were large in the body was lifted like tentacles before it was swung down at the one vehicle.

Bang.!!!

No damage was done to the armoured vehicle but the soldier standing on top of it was squashed to death as the only damage on the car was that blood was now covering it.

The same vine swapped its body across the street hitting one of the vehicles by the side though. However, soon, multiple rockets could be seen being sent to this vine as it was destroyed after taking a hit from most rockets.

The men didn't waste time reloading and started to fire again but this time, nothing was in front of them, the vines disappeared and so did most of the strikes.

Noticing this, the captain ordered his men to stop. They were trying to comprehend what just happened. It was almost night and they decided to on the lights on their vehicles brightening the street more.

Due to the constant firing of rockets and grenade throwing and so on, the street was mostly covered with smoke, which wasn't too thick, but it made the others feel uncomfortable at the same time.

'Is this over? Did the attacker must be stopped?' the captain wondered.

Not long, he was provided wrong, by the figure that appeared to be standing in the middle of the road right in front of them.

"Quick, form a circle with the cars!" the captain yelled as those still alive started to drive the vehicle to form a barrier both in the front and the back. The car's lights were still on from all angles.

Regardless, everyone's attention is still focused on who just appeared before them. "Sir do we shoot?" a soldier asked in whispers but got no reply from his body.

The captain was mainly focused on observing the figure. Soon, the body of the figure became clear to them since the fog smoke around its surrounding was clearing.

"A teenager!" the whispers of shock could be heard from the others as they all seems to get ready to shoot.

That was when they saw an azure glow from the teenage boy's hand. The glow went ahead to reveal the axe in the boy's hand.

"Who are you and why are you attacking us?" the captain asked. He made sure to have his power active in case things started to get worse again.

"Really? I thought you are the one that attacked us first, or to say you are planning to attack us," Nate said. He was making his voice echo through the dark sky to intimidate the others.

The captain started to think about what Nate said till something clicked in his mind. "The base!"

"Fire,! Fire! No matter what fire!" the captain yelled to his men, but Nate was no longer in front of them.

However, they kept shooting, but that's when a force wave hit them from behind.

Boom!!!

The majority of the armoured vehicle wasn't able to handle the force that was sent flying into some building in the surrounding.
