Chapter 23: {Lacrosse and Stuff}

Don't ask any questions, my Sunday was boring as HELL. I kind of just started grinding points. Jugyeong and I played games online for a bit. I dunno if she thought it was funny but she send me an hour long video of her kicking her tree in the backyard. Don't ask.

{Talking to yourself in the third person again?}

{Eh true}

I'm in P.E. class today and I pray that I don't play dodgeball today...

I don't play dodgeball thankfully, but I got something MUCH worse...

We're playing lacrosse. Now normally I'd walk around the field since our class has an odd number of people and I normally get to sit out...

NOT TODAY.

Jun is absent, knowing him he probably got high or sore or something and just didn't care. I hate having 4th period PE.

{Side Mission 4: Win a Lacrosse Game AND score a point. Time Limit: Class. Reward: +2 ATC, +3 skill points}

"You give out skill points like how people give out free samples. Also, this is the first side mission I've had in a long time."

{And? You only have one skill worth upgrading. Also side missions aren't main missions, of course they're gonna be sparse you idiot.}

"Can I override punishment dream torture?"

{Yes}

"Ah that's why it's useful."

We suit up for lacrosse.

{You're a wide target to get hit with a metal rod.}

"Dang. True."

I have to play with people I don't care about. My school has mixed PE. Two team captains were chosen. I was the last pick, and I'm on a team with 5 lazy girls, a girl that is on the lacrosse team, and another dude...

If my team were athletic, this wouldn't be a problem, most of the people on my team are toothpicks that can't even carry half their bodyweight. The lacrosse girl and I are the only ones that can run faster than a 16 minute mile. If a 249 pound, morbidly obese guy that barely started working out like a week and a day ago that can barely work out for like 30 minutes at a time slow as hell can outrun a 100 pounder, I dunno what's up with you to be honest.

"You've already pissed me off I'm gonna try." I say to it.

"Who the frick are you talking to the game is about to start!" the lacrosse girl said.

"Okay, Cho-Soo's team you start with the ball." My PE teacher said.

THAT'S her name.

She drives through the opposing team and gets a point no problem. It might also help that I'm the biggest and ugliest guy there and no one wants to breathe the same air as me.

"Easy points." she said.

Then, I get poked in the stomach with a pole. The back of a pole.

"Why did you choose people that wouldn't do anything?" I ask Cho-Soo as we let the other team get a point on us.

"To show off that I can win. It's good that I got at least a half decent defensive forward in the draft though." she replies.

It's just a constant slugfest, point after point. They can't defend Cho-Soo and we can't defend literally anyone they have on offense.

I also get hit a bunch. Also, WHY THE HELL IS LACROSSE SO DANGEROUS!?

It's the last minute of the game, the opponent tries to drive through. He crashes into me and bops me in the eye with the lacrosse shooter.

He gave me a black eye.

"You should go to the nurse." the teacher said.

"I'm hungry I'll go after I eat." I reply.

"Okay. Just be careful."

My eye wasn't bleeding, but everywhere around it was good ol internal bleeding.

I get to lunch.

"What the hell happened?!" Jugyeong asks me.

"Lacrosse happened, Jun was absent so I actually had to play today." I reply.

"How did they get you through the mask?"

"The stick poked me in the eye from the back. Stupid PE teacher making us wear hockey masks."

"Wanna go to the nurse?"

"I'm hungry."

"Ah. AW HELL NAH! MOM'S GONNA BE HOME TODAY AND TOMORROW!" Jugyeong exclaims while reading a text message.

"Why's that bad?"

"She's been wanting to meet you."

"Doesn't she know you're dating me?"

"My mom lost her phone in America."

"Why is it bad anyway?"

"Ah that's right, you've only met her twice. My mom uh, let's just say loves to make fun of people."

"On a scale of 1 to 10 how bad is it?"

"8."

"Can't be that bad."

Dowoon's out today and Suho is a zombie texting Sangah.

"How was your date?" I ask him.

"Oh, uh wha?" he replies.

"HOW WAS YOUR DATE?"

"Oh yeah it was uh, fun to say the least."

"That's not specific." Jugyeong divulges.

"We went to that expensive indoor zoo."

"OH YEAH SHE GAVE HYUN TICKETS TOO."

"Her mom works there and gets free tickets every month."

"Ah."

"Wanna go on Wednesday morning babe?" I ask Jugyeong.

"Sure." she replies.

"Look at you two all mushy and all that already, y'all have been dating for 5 days!" Suho says annoyed.

"Yeah, but we've been friends for 5 years!" Jugyeong replies.

"It's still weird y'all call each other boyfriend and girlfriend already."

"We've known each other long enough to skip all that first month figuring out."

"True. Hey Hyun, did you know that Sangah is part white like you?"

"Her eye color makes it obvious."

"So you knew already."

"No duh."

"Also, why are you wearing a white t-shirt? Isn't that a dress code violation?"

"I've been able to get away with it because it's tucked in, which shows my back tattoo."

"Sneaky. Well I gotta go. Gotta go to the nurse so I can skip half of my next period."

"I'm coming with you. I wanna skip class." Jugyeong says.

"Wanna walk in holding hands to weird the nurse out? Last time we went together she was disgusted at the thought. We weren't dating then, but now we are." I say.

"Pffffft! That'd be funny."

We walk to the nurse.

"Jugyeong, skipping with your friend again?" Nurse Jin asks.

"Boyfriend now." she replies.

"The actual (censored)?"

"Watch your language!" I say.

"Sorry, that just surprised me. Now lemme see. Are you blinded, is it blurry?"

"Nah. It's just throbbing."

"I would just give you an ice pack. But just because I hate school too, just lay on the bed. You can lay there too Jugyeong. I don't care as long as nothing nasty happens."

"You're such a stacy Nurse Jin thanks!" Jugyeong says.

We lie there on the bed for a while. Since Jugyeong is pretty thin in most areas, we both fit.

Neither of us can fall asleep.

"Do you sleep on your stomach? I've asked this question before, but I forgot." Jugyeong asks me.

"Yeah. You?"

"Anywhere but my back, but I have to be uh, bare."

"Too much information."

"Oh come on, don't you?"

"No I sleep in shorts and a t shirt."

"Dang."

We sit there in silence for a bit.

"Man I really feel dirty now." she says.

"You're not dirty, you just released wayyyyy too much information." I reply.

BRRRRR!

Class ended.

"I gotta go to math to change seats. And uh, don't talk about that with anyone." Jugyeong said while blowing me a kiss.

"You gotta go too lover boy. Also how the hell dja land that?" Nurse Jin asked.

While getting up I reply, "My friend was my wingwoman. She helped me realize that Jugyeong at least liked me a little bit."

"You better treat that girl right, you literally are that less than one percent of dice rolls that land on the corner instead of a side."

"I will. Have a good day Nurse Jin. See you soon!"

"Please come back again, means more money for me from the government."

"You already know I'm gonna lose a tooth at some point."

(Switch to Jugyeong)

I'm in Math, and we're switching seats.

I moved next to Xochitl. Kiara followed and sat next to me.

"Hi." I say to Xochitl.

"Hi." A robotic voice coming from a phone says deader inside than my dad when his first book didn't do too hot.

I say hi to Kiara as well.

Class goes on, I don't understand a thing in class. Like always. I'll just have Hyun teach me in 5th grade terms again on Saturday when it's dead.

"Thanks Jugyeong for helping me with Euntae." Kiara says.

"It's nothing." I reply.

Class ends.

"Bye Kiara, bye Xochitl." I say.

"Bye." Kiara says.

"Bye random lady." Xochitl's robot phone says.

Man I have to eat dinner with her parents after I go to the gym.

"How good do I have to dress?" I text her.

"My mom's gonna be in her taekwondo uniform and my dad's just gonna be in whatever. As long as it's not stained or like gym clothes it doesn't matter."

"Ah alright."

I work out and go to class and stuff. Coach Yoo-ji dogged us and didn't show up today so I got to dip early. I think she said she went on a date from what Seulgi told us.

I go shower and put on some half-decent clothes and get ready for some true suffering...
