Working Around the Time

As i lay on my bed i could hear the chirping sounds of the sparrows and i could feel the cold breeze from my window in my bedroom.

Honk...Honk!!!

Of course....the noisy cars just gradually crossing the roads

Sigh....

I slowly get up from my bed and head my way towards the bathroom to wash my face.

"Today is my first day for my new job huh" i ponder as i see my reflection on the mirror

"I hope the task assigned wouldn't be hard" i ask to myself

"Cassandra, breakfast is ready!" Vanessa called me out for breakfast

"Coming!" I replied as i wipe my face with the face towel and proceed to walk towards the table

"Morning dear, you seem to enjoy your sleep" my grandma said with a smile on her face

"Well i did have a nice dream last night grandma" i replied as i sat down beside her in the table

Aunt Vanessa then proceed to lay down the breakfast she made to the table with a smile on her face.

"Why is everyone smiling today?" I ask confused

"Well today is your first day in your job right? So i prepared a good one this morning" aunt Vanessa replied

As she layed out the plates i could smell a warm aroma wondering what she cooked this morning. As i recieved my plate i was shock on what it contains.

"Ohhh eggs benedict!!" I said as i began to smell the sweet aroma around it.

"Thank you aunt Vanessa" i added as i dig in for the meal

"Hey, slow down, you dont want to choke first thing in the morning" she replied

"Im glad that you like it" grandma said

"Looks like my recipe work" she added

"Wow, this is your eggs benedict grandma!?" I said in awe as i feast on the meal

"Yes dear, i taught Vanessa the recipe of it...oh im glad it taste good" she replied as she indulge eating the meal.

This eggs benedict is soft and it has a sweet taste to it, im suprised grandma knows some great recipes. The three of us then continue to indulge in the meal.

After having the breakfast i then proceeded to brush my teeth and take a shower as aunt Vanessa wash the dishes. After taking a shower i then went upstairs to wear the employee's clothes that the manager handed out to me.

After that i proceed to go downstairs and towards the door, i opened the door and before saying my goodbyes.

"Grandma when i come home today can you teach me some recipes you know?" I ask her smiling

"Yes dear, i'll gladly do" she replied smiling back at me

"Thank you, im going now grandma and aunt Vanessa" i said waving at them as i headed out towards the my workplace.

As i walk towards my workplace i then spotted a familiar man who turns out to be the man that told me where i could find a job, happily i went to reach out to him.

Goodmorning sir" i said

"Oh..well goodmorning" he replied

"Remember me sir last time we met you told me there is a job offering on a convenience store" i ask

"Oh..well looks like you successfuly got the job" he replied

"Uh right sorry i didn't get your name yet mind if you can introduce yourself?" I ask

"Right i did forgot well im Misaki Pragma, congrats on your job" he replied and reach out his right hand for a handshake.

I also reach out my own right and proceed to have a handshake with him

"See you around Misaki" i said smiling at him

"Well you too Cassandra" he replied

"Oh you remembered my name" i replied as i was suprise he remembered it

"Well we met just yesterday of course i still remember" he added

"Right right" i replied scratching the back of my head in embarresment

We went our own ways as i continued on my way towards my workplace.

Ahh..finally arriving, i then greeted Hannah as i entered the premises of the convenience store.

"Morning Hannah" i said as i wave my hand to her

"Morning Cassandra goodluck today" she said waving back to me

I then opened the door that leads to the employee's lockers to which i put my belongings in it, after that i went on to greet my manager.

"Morning manager thank you for having me" i said

"No worries...and right for your first day here i suggest you first clean the windows for that would be easier" she replied

"Yes ma'am" i replied back

She then pointed where the needed supplies for cleaning the windows to which i went to grab and proceeded to exit the manager's room.

The time as of now is 9:22 am, i might be able to finish cleaning the windows after maybe 30-40 minutes.

With the supplies in hand i went outside the commercial store to get started by cleaning the outside windows before proceeding to the inside.

"Cassandra, here is the water bucket" Hannah said as she carried a bucket of water for me to use

"Hannah, i appreciate it" i replied with a smile on my face

Hannah then smiled back as she went back inside to sort the items in the item's rack.

After spending 20 minutes cleaning the outside i then proceed to start cleaning the inside windows which ended up being cleaned after 30 minutes.

"It took me almost an hour to finish this huh" i said to myself as i returned the neccesity to the staff's room

"Looks like your doing well for your first assigned task today" Hannah said to me as she handed me a bottled water

"Yeah..thank you for this water" i replied as i recieve the bottled water she handed out to me.

I proceed to drink to hydrate myself.

"Say Hannah how many tasks do i do today?" I ask her

"Well...just roughly 4 now since you finish your first" she replied

"Manager usually hands out 10 jobs to me but since you were employed she then divided it" she added

"Must be rough for you then" i replied

"Well i did get used to it" she said as she handed me a broom out of nowhere

"Where did you get that?" I ask confuse

"Well just beside the door" she replied

I guess i was assigned to also clean the floors, well i can't complain since sweeping the floor is much better than cleaning and wiping the windows inside and out.

Sweeping the floor clean took me 30 minutes, the manager then went out her room and told us to take a break.

"Finally a small break" i said as i stretch my arms upward

"Yep, you still have 3 to go before you can have your leave" Hannah said as she counts the item that were purchase this morning

"Hannah what do the manager want me to do next?" I ask her resting my head on the counter

"Well that is sorting items, we both have the same task to do aside from the counter job which is specifically assigned to me" she replied

"So i just sort the items in their right places?" I ask

"Well you sort them based on the classification so yes" she replied

"You grab those boxes over there and unpack them to which the items inside is what you begin to sort out gets" she added

"Well sure i got it" i replied

Hannah might not be the best person when it comes to explaining but atleast i was able to kinda understand it.

After the break i then immediately proceed to sorting the items, after unpacking the first box and sorting out the items towards the rack i find this actually fun to do than i expected.

I gently sort the items one by one and also began unpacking the following boxes to do the same process, i don't find this boring to be honest.

"What the f-?" I said as i opened the last box which is far smaller than the rest

"They sell this?" I said to myself

I took the box and then walk towards Hannah to ask the question

"Umm Hannah where would i put this?" I said it in a embarassing tone

"Hmm your blushing?" Hannah replied and proceed to take a look on the item

"Ah...you didn't know that some commercial store sell condoms do you?" She smirks at me

"Well im sheltered you see" i replied avoiding eye contact

"This is a convenience store afterall" she said

"This are usually displayed on the counter" she added as she slowly take the box away from my grasp and began sorting them in the countertop

"Cassandra, don't react that way when a costumer buys one of these okay?" Hannah said as she displays them

"Sure..sorry" i replied

"Don't be sorry everyone reacts that way  for their first time" she then giggled

I went then to do my last assigned task which is to write down all the items in the store and submit them to the manager.

I wasted no time writing each item and their which totals to 259 items, after this i then handed out the paper to the manager

"Manager here are the total of items in the store" i said as i hand it out to her

"Thank you for your hard work" she sais as she recieve the paper

"Make sure to do your job well even if it takes time okay? She added

"Yes ma'am" i replied

She then procees to dismiss me so i went to the employee's room to grab my stuff, as i went out the store i then said my goodbye to Hannah who is busy counting the total sales for today

"Hannah, i'll be going then" i said to her waving goodbye

"See you tomorrow, take care then" she replied whilst waving back

I exited my workplace and began my walk towards home

"Ahh...finally i get to go home for dinner can't wait for grandma to teach me her recipes" i said yawning

Looks like i could finally find a stable lifestyle.
