[[Marcellus Hanley]]
I felt power surging through my veins and knowledge of the world being fed to me.
I could sense, feel and understand the world and its truth. I understood every composition, every energy and every thought.
"So this is how a god feels?" I clenched my fists, enjoying my newly found powers.
Essex smiled. "That is how I felt when Apocalypse 'recreated' me. But try not to be blinded by those powers or you will regret it later."
I paid no heed to his words as I already knew what he said was the truth. But before everything else, I had to understand and get used to these powers.
"I know." I smiled at Essex. "But first, let me get used to this."
And without waiting for his reply, I jumped through the broken roof and darted towards the blue sky.
Essex seemed amused but I was more interested in figuring out these powers.
In the fraction of a second, I was floating in the sky— enjoying the cool breeze and the fresh air. The pollution at this altitude was very low and the view from up high was gorgeous.
I had greatly underestimated the powers of the Sentry, and considering I was now the strongest version of Sentry— The Merged Sentry, it felt even more overwhelming.
With my current powers I could see, hear and feel things that I could never before. Time seemed to move slower and I could hear the voices of a million beings inside my head.
As I was experienced in mind reading, I instantly turned the ability off. Hearing voices inside my head would drive me insane very fast and I didn't want that.
What else can I do?
I shot towards the east to find an open and empty area. Testing my powers in here was not smart.
But honestly, these powers are amazing…
It didn't even take me a minute to reach an empty mountain range.
Looking at the scenery, I didn't want to destroy it. But— I could just repair it.
I pushed my hand out and focused. And as I wished, a compressed energy orb formed in front of my palm. I lightly pushed it towards the mountain and it bolted towards it.
Within a second, the mountain ceased to exist— shocking me greatly.
"This is… something else."
The mountain that was in front of me ceased to exist from an attack that I barely placed any effort in.
But I couldn't just leave it damaged and I knew that Sentry had the power of molecular manipulation. So, I used just that and recreated the destroyed mountain.
I imagined the mountain and allowed my powers to recreate the mountain through molecular manipulation. And once I opened my eyes, the mountain stood proud in front of me.
Sentry had many powers but molecular manipulation was his strongest.
I looked at the sun and then at a lake. A smile appeared on my face as I knew exactly the power to test next.
I pointed my finger towards the lake and a ray of light from the sun shot towards the lake— vaporising it in an instant.
Photokinesis.
And using molecular manipulation once again, I refilled the empty lake.
Sentry's abilities are seemingly endless and it will take me a while to figure out everything. So, it's better if I get used to these slowly while figuring everything else.
After all… I am immortal now.
But before leaving, I noticed something and sighed. As I flew over the lake, I extended the palm of my hand and closed my eyes.
The matter around me became unstable but after a while, it started to balance itself and create a certain something on my palm. An outline formed and then it was filled.
And then it moved.
I had created life— a fish.
I let the fish swim free in the lake and using the same method— I created many more fishes and populated the once vaporised lake.
"Now, I should leave."
…
…
Essex for all this time was waiting for Marcellus. And once the newly born god returned, Essex smiled.
"Enjoyed the newly found powers?"
Marcellus nodded. "Very much."
He picked up a broken shard of glass and looked at his new appearance.
"Will have to do something about this though."
Essex added while nodding. "Unless you want to draw attention."
"That I don't." Marcellus smiled. "There is still a little bit of time before I do that."
Essex narrowed his eyebrows. "You have been working on something… for a very long time. What is it?"
Marcellus laughed. "You will figure out soon, Mr. Essex— there is still time." He looked at Essex. "Don't worry. I remember our promise and it won't be very long before I am able to keep my promise to you."
Essex nodded. "That's all I wish for."
Marcellus grabbed his hair and using molecular manipulation, he created a rubber band— using which he tucked his hair.
But that's not where he stopped. He used the knowledge he got from Fu Manchu and topped with his biokinesis— he turned himself back into the original Marcellus… Appearance-wise at least.
As he fixed his appearance, he heard someone approaching the destroyed room— it was Lennon.
"Ah, Mr. Lennon." Marcellus smiled. "It was a job well done. Good job."
Lennon was both overjoyed and shocked by Marcellus' words.
"You… succeed." He said in shock and delight.
Marcellus laughed. "No, Mr. Lennon. 'We' succeeded." He looked at the scientists and then at the mutate. "Without you two… this project would have been a failure."
Neither Essex nor Lennon denied the claim. As they knew it was the truth.
"But Mr. Lennon." Marcellus sighed. "Forgive me for this."
Lennon was confused but his eyes widened as Marcellus pushed his index finger over his head. "Forgive me for this, Lennon."
And before anyone could figure what he meant, Lennon's eyes rolled back and he fell on the ground— unresponsive.
"You… killed him?" Essex asked in amusement.
"No. I erased his memories of the serum and everything related to it. And while I was at it— I placed some mental block that would prevent him from understanding the formula ever again. Even if he had the serum in front of his eyes." Marcellus' response made Essex nod. "I will do the same with his assistants."
"I expected you to kill him." Essex said. "But this is better."
"Indeed. I would have needed to kill him if I didn't possess this power. But I am glad that I do… otherwise losing a genius like him would have been tragic."
Essex nodded. "Well then. I will be busy for a while. The samples that you provided… I am about to make a breakthrough."
Marcellus looked inside Essex's head and figured that he was referring to the samples that he provided a few months ago of a… special mutant.
"That's great news. I will be busy with a few things as well. So, I will contact you when required, Mr. Essex." He smiled. "And you shall do the same."
Essex nodded. "Yes. And Marcellus… be careful. Now that you have obtained such powers… you will be monitored by a lot of beings. And Apocalypse might be one of them… so be mindful of your future moves."
"I will. Now, I have to leave." He sighed. "I have quite a lot of things that I need to do."
"Very well then, I will see you later."
Marcellus nodded and jumped up before bolting towards his house— breaking the sound barrier.
