Chapter Seven

"So... an Alpha, huh?"

I muttered, staring at the giant beast that was a cross between a tiger and an alien. Honestly, I wasn't even surprised, in this world, fish grow from the ground.

This thing could increase its muscle mass for a period of time, sacrificing speed and maneuverability for strength and endurance.

"Alright, I'll take this one, bro."

Ethan tapped me on the shoulder and walked past me, not bothering to be silent. The Alpha's ears twitched at the sudden sound and his head shot up, eyes zeroing in on Ethan as he walked uncaringly at the skinny giant.

It stood up on all fours, its muscles tensing judging by how his fur ruffled ever so slightly, and released a warning growl.

Not caring about the sudden agitation of the beast, my brother continued walking.

Without much fanfare, the Alpha darted forward, its speed notable, but overall not threatening. Water erupted around Ethan, surrounding his body in the form of a swirling vortex.

As soon as the Alpha's claws came into contact with the water, the vortex froze, trapping its claw in place and a second later, the ice exploded as lightning burst from the inside, piercing through the thin tiger's shoulder and slicing it off.

As the now body-less paw was thrown aside, the Alpha roared and staggered back due to the pain and the electricity running through its body.

I hummed appreciatively, that was a good combination indeed.

The tiger that just lost its paw bulked up suddenly and lunged at Ethan who did nothing but stare at the beast. Utilizing its other paw, the Alpha swung at my brother who continued to remain standing still.

The paw passed through him like he was nothing but a mirage and an earth spike erupted from the ground, piercing the monster's chest as it slumped over, dead.

Behind the tiger, Ethan materialized from the feet up, hands still in his pockets.

Nice. But there are still flaws, I could still sense his mana signature despite him being invisible.

I walked forward, looking at the dead beast with little interest. Its hide was useless since it was so elastic... and damaged, along with the meat being unpleasant to the taste, the only thing these Alphas were useful for were experience points.

Looking at Ethan I saw him searching for something, probably cubs if there were any.

While he was doing that, I held out my hand at the corpse and sunk it underground, it wouldn't attract anything to the place and the bears might return if nothing was occupying their territory.

____

"You know-"

I tilted my body to the side, avoiding a giant stinger that was aiming to pierce my eye. Lightning cracked from my left and pierced through the giant killer wasp.

"This wasn't what I had in mind when I agreed to grind."

My remark got nothing in response, but my life got attempts on it by four similar wasps coming at me.

I waved my hand and wind blades burst forward, slicing them in half simultaneously.

Water surrounded both Ethan and I, courtesy of the former, and spikes of liquid burst from the dome, skewering the monsters effortlessly.

I raised my arm and the spikes that were protruding from the dome boiled, exploding into scalding water and burning any nearby wasps that were unfortunate enough to be nearby.

As the dome lowered I raised two fingers and a shockwave burst forward, followed by a wave of sound that would have raptured my eardrums if they weren't reinforced with mana.

The remaining Killer wasps dropped to the ground, joining their brethren and I took the chance to send out a wave of flame from my feet, burning their corpses.

Turning to Ethan, I noticed his breathing had gotten deeper but I couldn't call him out on it. I gained ten levels, so my mana reserve was boosted substantially, while his wasn't.

"Did you level up?"

Sucking in a final breath and sighing, he took out his adventurer card and nodded.

"Three levels, my intelligence, and wisdom gained paints, my constitution too."

I nodded, we had been going at it for a few hours by now and the sun was already moving to set.

Walking closer to him, I put a hand on his shoulder and teleported us out of the forest and into the house, more specifically, our room.

"Fuck you and your mana reserve, you plageryser."

I look at him with a smirk.

"Bro, have you seen me, I am the fukin' shit."

He elbowed me in the stomach and I ate it like a boss. Did not hurt at all. Chuckling, I stretched out my arms and fell down on my bed. Today was fun.

Though, Ethan's words did get me thinking, what else could I plagiarise? No, a better question was, why were no other reincarnators plagiarizing magic from anime?

Bloody idiots.

Getting comfortable on my pillow, I took out my adventure card. I had one hundred and sixty-eight points, I could put them in something.

I looked over all of the spells I knew and decided that my livelihood was more important since being able to throw around flashy spells meant nothing If I was dead.

Reinforcement was my first choice and fifty points disappeared into that. And Surge was my next option, which would help me in close combat.

Fifty more points went just like that.

Sixty-eight remaining.

"Yo dude. what should I put my remaining sixty-eight points in?"

I asked Ethan, who had his eyes closed, most likely trying to sleep. Unfortunately for him, I existed. He opened his eyes and looked over at me with surprise written over his face.

"You are spending those now?"

I could understand his surprise. When I was still in my twenties, and even before that, we went into the forest to find monsters that gave a lot of experience and multiple stat points.

Ah, good times.

Nodding, I waited as he frowned in thought, looked at the card I was holding, and then back at me. I got the hint.

"I put them in Reinforcement and Surge, fifty each."

He let out a hum and finally shrugged.

"Well, no point in putting them in teleport, since you made all of the upgrades weep in despair... What spells do you have?"

Instead of answering, I tossed him the card. Catching it, he looked over it and frowned.

"The fuck is White Nova?"

He looked over at me with a raised eyebrow.

"I used it on Wolbach's other half to one-shot it."

When he heard the words "One-shot", he threw the card in my face.

"Fuck you, keep the points."

He turned over in his bed.

This little shit!
