Hunt

(POV Cyrus)

As the mist spiraled around me I closed my eyes out of instinct.

Once I opened my eyes I saw everything including my inventory panel in a familiar purple hue.

I tapped the screen a few times and then another tab opened gently dropping draco cyberiem and a neo knife onto the sandy and rocky floor.

I picked up the neo knife and then started pumping mana into it.

I gazed at the inventory panel and saw another Neo knife appear in the inventory.

I grinned as I continued forcing the magical energy into the kunai in my hand as it duplicated.

Once I ran out of mana I created had created the eighth knife and I deposited the knife into the inventory before picking up the axe.

(Huh surprisingly not too heavy.) I thought as I inspected the axe.

"Hey, Lyra before I accidentally chop my arm off by any chance do you know how this thing's recall skill works?" I ask with a semi worried and excited tone.

<Yeah just think of grabbing the axe and the rest will just work itself out.> She explained.

"Ok, what about-" I was cut off.

<If you want it in dual mode just think of it splitting up and vice versa for it to reform.>

"What about-."

<JUST START TRAINING!> She irritably shouted.

One hour of swinging and throwing axes later…

"Well that was tiring but at least this was worth it." I say as I lay my eyes on the three panels before me.

I grinned with satisfaction looking at my stats as I slowly made my way to the camp.

I quickly removed the kababs from the fire and set them aside on a clean rock to cool down.

^Mi…^

^Dude…^

I look back and see the two groggily crawl out of the tent as they rubbed their eyes.

"You two had a good nap?" I tiredly asked to which the duo nodded.

"I see well lunch is ready so settle yourselves down and I'll give you your share." I say in a gentle yet tired tone.

(Man I need to catch some sleep…) I thought as I yawned.

{Me too bud me too…}

Geodude and mimikyu instantly exited their sleepy state and sat down beside me with an excited and hungry look on their face.

With an amused expression, I gently passed them some kababs to which they chowed down upon with delight.

"You guys really like the food don't ya." I say as I placed a few kababs aside for me.

The duo looked at me with a serious expression and nodded vigorously.

I let out a small laugh at their antics as I took off my armor (Welp now I know how to motivate them.).

I took a bite of the juicy fish and savored its taste as I felt myself being healed.

I laid my back on the cavern wall with my belly stuffed alongside mimikyu and geodude.

I put on a thoughtful expression as I realized something "Hey would you guys like to have a name?".

The two stared at me with confusion.

<Cyrus they're newborns they don't know what a name is.> Lyra reminded me.

"Right, I forgot about that…" I mumbled with irritation.

Once I explained to them what a name means they immediately got excited and started nodding.

"Let's start with mimikyu then…" Mimikyu stared at me with excitement and happiness.

I began contemplating what to name mimikyu (Hmm what should I name him? Mimi? Nah too girly he's a dude…Slimy? Nope too stupid… Hold up how about…).

<Well? What's his name?>

"I'll name you Noir." I said in a gentle and happy tone.

^Kyu!^ Mimikyu- no Noir immediately started jumping around me and geodude with joy.

"It's your turn now geodude." I told the nervous rock.

^Geo…^

"Your name from now on will be…" (What should I name you? Well he's a rock so we can go off that perhaps… yeah that will do.) I made up my mind.

"…Dwayne, Dwayne the geodude." He gave me a thumbs up before bear hugging me.

^GEO!^ Dwayne yelled as he grinned in happiness.

"Glad to see you like it but can please loosen up I think I cracked a rib…" I weakly said as Noir joined in on the hug.

I smiled as they loosened up and petted them tenderly.

A booming roar then resounded through the cavern and I stood up with fright and confusion with my ears ringing.

"Equip neo malware…" I say in a confused tone as I prepare for the worst.

The duo immediately hid behind me with fear as the ground rumbled and a low growl ensued.

Then out of nowhere a black fog crackling with red lightning seeped in from the entrance.

(OH SHIT! OH HELL NO! DON'T TELL ME THAT THING IS HERE!!) Being a veteran player I immediately recognized the creature responsible for this.

< Skill 'Brain time' activated>

As the skill activated the entire world excluding my mind slowed down to a pause freezing everything.

<Cyrus I am certain you can hear me right now but I have no time to explain, that thing is way out of your level you need to run! I am going to open an inventory panel and Draco cyberiem will come out in dual mode! I want you to grab the axe and run away don't worry about Noir and Dwayne they will be in your subspace and yes you have a subspace! I am going to give you orders and I want you to follow them as you run.> Lyra hurriedly explained with worry and fear.

(WHAT!) I mentally shouted as my eyes locked onto two eerie red orbs that glowed ominously shrouded by the crackling mist.

With a swift motion, as everything returned to normal three panels opened, two engulfing Noir and Dwayne while the other dropped two axes onto the floor.

<Duck and roll to your left!> Lyra ordered me.

I followed the order grabbing the axes and as I rolled away a booming roar echoed before I felt a loud crash vibrate through the floor.

I looked back and saw the vile beast from hell have its head stuck in the wall with parts of the cave collapsed on top of it.

<Run to the camp quickly it won't hold for long!>

I ran to the campsite my eyes lingering on the beast as I sweated buckets waiting for further orders.

Once I reached the camp almost immediately panels varying in height, width, and length came into existence and started devouring all within the camp.

<Run to the entrance it's breaking free!>

My sight lingered on the beast one more time before I bolted through the sand and stone to the outside world beyond the cave.

*Stone cracking* *GGGRRRRAAAAAAA*

I halted for a split second and looked back to see the being in all its glory a large green theropod its body littered with scars and white spines the beast titled 'Violent wyvern' 'Savage incarnate' 'Gluttonous pickle'.

The Deviljho roared as its body swelled bursting out of its stone bounds with ease as its muscles tore and a black fog expelled from it.

{I wrote this chapter while listening to the Deviljho's theme so if you want you can play the theme while reading this chapter.}

I resumed my running as I felt myself enter a state consumed by adrenaline and fear.

"Now what!?" I shout with fear reaching the entrance as I felt death itself loom over me.

<Run unpredictably to your left and into the forest!> Lyra ordered me with hast.

I then ran towards the forest running in a zigzag almost slipping on the mudded ground of the clearing.

*GGGRRRAAAAAHHHHH*

The creature let out a thunderous roar that demanded fear as its footstep rumbled the earth as I closed in on me.

<Stop and duck!> She shouted abruptly.

I immediately halted all movement and ducked down curling into a ball as I felt a huge force of wind pass by me.

*KKKKKRRRRRRAAAAAAHHHHHH*

I look up and see the Deviljho uncontrollably ram itself into the forest bringing down the trees before it with a few impaled into its body.

<Run to the mountains now!>

I stood up and froze as the crimson eyes of the glutton stared into my own as it let out a deep bellow before it spewed its thunderous mist at me.

*GGGRRR*

I ran toward the mountains gripping the axes tightly as a Deviljho cloaked in a fog of death charged at me.

I started moving erratically ducking whenever it got too close and using the muddy terrain to my advantage sliding to evade its attacks and making it harder for the Deviljho to run or lunge without slipping.

<Take a left now!>

I did as Lyra ordered and slid to my left barely dodging the Deviljho ramming its spiked chin onto the ground where I was.

I got up and continued my run toward the base of the mountain with my almost depleted stamina and full health as the creature continued its pursuit.

<Skill 'Brain time' activated>

<All right Cyrus listen to me closely and follow this order seriously ok. Forty feet away right ahead of you hiding in the foliage is a Pukei-Pukei colony. I want you to throw both axes straight at it when I tell you to. Once you throw it I want you to run towards the mountain base and into that cave on your right while calling the axes back. it's small enough the Deviljho can't get through and big enough for you to fit in.> Lyra hurriedly explained as time reverted back to normal.

I ran straight ahead nervously eyeing the unsuspecting colony waiting for her signal as I felt the Deviljho's rumbling stomps behind me.

*GGGRRRRAAAAAAAAHHHHH*

The beast roared furiously as it ran savagely with red lightning and black fog erupting from its rough green hide.

<NOW!> She shouted as I neared the nest.

I threw the axes at the foliage unsure of her plan as I duck down letting the Deviljho pass through me and crash into the colony of Pukei-Pukei.

*Trees snapping * *KKKRRRRRRRRAAAA x4* *GGGRRRRRAAHHHH*

Suddenly as a mixture of a noxious purple fume and the Deviljho's black smoke filled my sight I hear multiple bird like screeches and the Deviljho roar with ferocity.

I slowly get up coughing my ears ringing in pain and my lungs burning I called Drago cyberiem back to my hands.

I look up and I see the disturbing sight of the Deviljho beheading a Pukei-Pukei and eating the head as multiple others assault the body of the Deviljho with poison gas and blunt force attacks.

I regained somewhat of my hearing and ran toward the cave at the mountain's base fleeing away from the carnage that was the battlefield.

After what felt like an eternity of agonizing running my eyes spotted the cave.

"*Cough* Fina- *Cough*-lly!" I say as I launched myself inside finally reaching safety.

I suddenly collapsed spasming to the ground with my lung burning in pure fucking agony and my eardrums damaged I somewhat heard Lyra's faded voice say something before I lost consciousness.
