Devil System

A mistake led to the find of the century, a god system. Only those who are affluent enough can afford it, those who cannot perish. When a fumble leads to Jeremy finding a new system he has to decide between his well-being, or the worlds. Will he rise to the top or stay shackled to the bottom?

Lady Luck Hates My Guts -2

After a decent amount of rest, I got up and looked around. The sun was starting to rise. "Oh, I guess I was asleep for too long," I said, rubbing my eyes. After a few seconds of stretching, I got onto my feet. Instead of climbing down the mountain, I swan dived off.

The wind whipped through my hair as I descended at high speed. The ground approached my face. This was going to hurt, but at least I looked like a badass diving off the mountain.

My face met the ground with a sickening crunch. I didn't feel anything since the impact was so quick, and the first thing to hit was my skull.

<Major User Injury Detected, Time Warp Protocol Activated>

I was once again in the lodge. My head swam. The time warp wasn't ever a pleasant experience. I laid back and decided that since I could do whatever now, that I would go and see Claire. I also had some points to spend. I have sixteen skill points and 1 level point.

I am unsure of what to spend my singular level point on. Maybe health, or would dexterity be a wiser choice. If I could block incoming attacks, then there would be no need for health. As I looked at my menu, my level items seem to have increased on their own.

Skills and Levels - Skill Points_16_ Lvl Points_1_:

Leveling:

HP: 34

STR: 25

MP: 110

DEX: 36

ST: 139

Skills:

Quickness P: Lvl 4

Pain Tolerance P: Lvl 4

Skin Hardening P: Lvl 1 Note: User at this level can withstand small impacts.

Cooking P: Lvl 1

Regeneration: Lvl 1>

I'll worry about the level point later. I do have sixteen skill points. "System, is there a current cap for my skills, if I were to place points into them?"

<Yes, Each Skill Depends On User's Current Level. Quickness Would Take DEX And ST to upgrade

Each Skill Level Works In Increments Of 5

However, Some Skills Such As Pain Tolerance And Cooking Can Be Levelled With Practice>

Wow, that was interesting. I wonder if quickness can be upgraded without skill points? It was a long shot, but if I were to run as fast as possible for a while I could see myself gaining another point. If it works in 5 and healing is based on health, can I upgrade it twice? "System, can I upgrade regeneration to level 3?" I ask the system.

<Yes, Would User Like To Place 2 Points Into Regeneration?>

[Yes][No]

"Place one point into health and upgrade regeneration 3 times," I say.

<Points Used: 1 Level, 3 Skill

Regeneration Now Level 3, User Now Heals At A Much Faster Rate>

"Nice, now what to do next?" I say. I can upgrade pain tolerance, skin hardening, and quickness one time each. I made my choice and upgraded all of them.

<Points Used: 3 Skill

Skin Hardening Is Now Level Two

Quickness Is Now Level Five, New Skill Available

Pain Tolerance Is Now Level Five, New Skill Available>

My skin felt much more durable, and my speed had acquired a significant boost. I'm starting to really get onboard with this whole system thing. If I felt like this after only having the system for not even two days, then what would my future look like? Although, this definitely doesn't compare to the second tier gods, maybe not even the top first tiers. I have a lot of strength to get. Once they figure out I have this they will kill me, or worse, test me and replicate this new system. The thought sent chills down my spine. They would need to hold my skin open with force because of my regeneration.

I let those thoughts go and focused on the now. The system truly was remarkable. I was across the room in an instant. Was this my walking stride? I guess it is. This is a small room though. I looked around, it would only take me five steps to get to my bed normally. This was quite a tiny lodge. That company really did screw me over. I looked back at my menu.

"System, what are those new skills?" I asked.

<Dash: Use 5% ST To Quickly Move In One Direction, At Higher Levels Direction Can Be Changed Mid-Dash And Lower ST Consumption

Bone Break Punch: Concentrate All Strength Into A Punch And Be Able To Break Semi-Hard Materials With Ease, Does 10% Damage To HP, At Higher Levels User Can Control Strength Output And Lower HP Consumption

Note: Unlocked Skills Used In Conjunction With Other Skills Take 2 Or More Points To Upgrade Based Upon Level>

The last one sounds painful but powerful. As for the two skill point increase I'm sure I can manage. I have ten left. I can upgrade one to level five, but not both. Dash would be useful for evasion and quick attacks. Since dash uses percents that means I get 20 uses for it. Same with BB Punch, I would only get nine. The last punch would kill me. The punch would be useful if I were to ever not have the sword. I suppose I will upgrade dash for now.

"System, upgrade dash to level 5." I ask.

<Points Used: 10 Skill

Dash Skill At Level 5: Dash Now Uses 1% Less ST>

Okay, that deals with that. I suppose time to test dash out. I opened the door and got blasted back into the room. "Well howdy." I say gritting my teeth as I hit the wall. There was a man in the doorway when I looked up. My mind started going black, just who the hell was this guy?

I had to rework the levels and skills because my google doc went haywire after my laptop died. So, after about half an hour of reading and rebuilding, I would like to introduce this new one! Also, this will be the only chapter for tonight because I've been at the drawing board coming up with plans for tomorrow and really, need some time to just think about the upcoming parts. So, tomorrow I'm uploading 3, and if I somehow end up with 15 powerstones, 5!

Crackpot Sunday is tomorrow folks! Let's reach 15 powerstones for the extra parts released.
