Cornered Like A Rat

Like a vicious predator, Lilian Mo let her fire loose as it devoured the level one mutants. The fire covered the entire room, spreading through the building at an unbelievable speed.

Her fire ate away at anything that could be considered fuel and she allowed it as she glared at the level one mutants that were shrieking and dying from the flames.

She evaded its one last effort of swinging its blade towards her before it her fire won and turned it into ashes.

As she walked out of the room that was ablaze by fire, in her hands was a level two crystal core that was the product of two level one crystal cores mixing together.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Lilian Mo halted. Blood dripped down from the ceiling and she slowly looked up to see a mutant, its wide mouth aimed to eat her alive.

Wiping the blood from her cheek, fire blazed and blasted the thing on its mouth. Its ear piercing scream nearly shattered her eardrums. The mutant immediately began running like a coward after realizing that its prey was still strong enough to fight it.

But how could Lilian Mo let it go like that? It turns out that this was the other level one mutant. Coldly, her flames grew and spread through the building, running after the mutant with crazy speed.

The level one mutant looked back, only to see that a huge fire was awaiting to devour it.

Hisssss...

The sizzling sound of fire reached her ears. Lilian Mo calmly accepted the level one crystal core that her fire had obtained.

Looking around at the burning third floor, a smirk slowly made its way on her face. Even though this seemed like a dangerous situation for her, she was not worried.

Lilian kicked open a glass window and looked outside. The shattered glass fell on the ground and landed randomly on various directions. Using her earth ability, a stair made of earth emerged from the ground, serving as her exit way. She jumped outside and landed on the top of the stairs made of rock.

The fire started to spread faster than expected as it has already reached the second floor.

Lilian Mo stepped on the ground and watched as the hospital became a fuel for the fire that came from her.

She was about to go look for her teammates when a huge wave of killing intent appeared from behind her. Lilian Mo barely had time to dodge when a mutant's giant hand nearly pounded her to bits.

Crack.

The earth was smashed. Rolling sideways she immediately stood her ground and retrieved her handguns.

"Shik...shik...shik..." The mutant made noises as it retracted its giant hand that was capable of extending itself. Lilian Mo's lips curled slightly.

Just when she thought that they were too lucky and was able to avoid fighting monsters with higher levels, one came down and crushed that notion.

Lilian Mo could not be wrong. The almost humanoid appearance of the mutant in front of her was enough to tell her that it was at most level two. It was capable of letting out a strong killing intent that could make most people hesitate.

If it was her from the past, Lilian Mo would have run away the moment she saw this thing. Fortunately, she was at Level three now and was physically stronger than most ability users so she could take on this Level two.

However, she exhausted most of her ability after raiding the hospital and fighting two level one mutants.

Instead of panicking, she assessed the situation and calmly avoided the attacks that were sent her way. She did not go on offense just yet and observed, searching for the mutant's weakness.

Lilian Mo jumped towards a pole. She did not have time to rest because its giant hand was already aiming at her. She evaded it and the pole was bent in half on her place. That attack could have folded her in half and broke her bones.

"Shik...shik...shik..." Despite the mutant's large body, it was very nimble. Based on her observation, it was physically strong and fast but when its movement began to slow down after some time, she realized that it has low stamina.

Thus, when the mutant finally became tired, Lilian Mo went in for the kill, firing at its head.

Who knew that it would have such a thick skin?

"Tch." Lilian Mo stored her handguns away and rolled her sleeves. Not holding back, she threw consecutive punches on its head using maximum power.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

"Give me your crystal core!" Lilian Mo demanded as her right hand pierced through its head, grabbing onto a round thing inside the gooey mess of it liquefied brain before pulling her hand back with all her might.

The level two mutant fell on the ground lifelessly. Lilian Mo thought that she could finally rest but to her surprise, she felt dozens of eyes upon her. She was being watched. She slowly raised her head and saw that there was a horde of mutants surrounding her. To make things worse, she could see at least three level one mutants in the group.

The level one mutants advanced towards her, their red eyes blinking at her as their mouths salivated, their claws extending into sharp blades. Their ugly and grotesque appearance was even worse than the zombies in the movie. With their wretched faces that were lined with teeth and spikes and a lone red eye wandering before staring at her, it was rather creepy.

"Hah." She let out a loud breath as she started to laugh like a madman. Assuming that she was cornered like a rat, these things were really dumb.

Storing the level two crystal core and pulling two kitchen knives, the eyes that had seen death and more were fearless as Lilian Mo shouted with all her might.

"Come at me and prepare to die!"

In the land covered by snow, a building was roaring with fire and a lone figure was dancing while blood rained on the ground, soaking the snowy carpet that covered the ground.
