Escape

Taking the initiative to open the door, Mizuki Rei was met with a nurse who lunged towards him. He extended his hand and a wind blade shot out to severe the nurse's head. He did not wait to be told to go inside and immediately entered, killing two other mutants that tried to pounce on him.

"There are cabinets here." Mizuki Rei raised his chin in the direction of the cabinets. Lilian Mo opened them and was surprised to see a lot of medications. There were still bandages and gauze which she also took.

Repeating the same process, their group was able to secure hospital beds and medical apparatuses. Although it was a pain to enter the radiology department were there were a lot of closed spaces, Lilian Mo was able to retrieve an x-ray and ultrasound machine. There were also surgery tools that she retrieved.

She was not knowledgeable in medicine but she was pretty sure that Lin Fang would know what to do with them. After exacting revenge, she was considering building her own base in the apocalypse or she could stay in Z-base instead.

That would be Lu Jingren's base in the far future. As long as their paths don't cross, there won't be any bad blood in them. She could remain an unknown existence as long as she remained discreet.

In the meantime, her priority was for Lin Jiaojiao to meet up with Lin Fang. She was not keen on her friend turning into a psychopath so in order to prevent this, she needed to take him away from the military base at S City.

By now, Lilian Mo had developed a habit of scavenging anything and everything that was useful. It got to the point that she did not left any to other people. Their group was like a locust, taking everything away in the places they visit. Moreover, it was very convenient to travel thanks to Lilian Mo's space.

Eventually, their group stopped at the last room, preparing for a battle with level one mutants.

Mizuki Rei who was eager to see what the monsters looked like, kicked the door open.

Their noses were immediately assaulted by a rancid smell. Mizuki Rei gagged at the horrid stench. Inside the room, was two mutants sitting on the floor, feasting on a pile of human corpses. Their backs were on them but even if they did not show their faces, their appearance was already guaranteed to look horrendous.

Passing by Mizuki Rei, Lilian Mo pulled her handguns and shot bullets straight to the mutants' head. The bullets exploded upon contact and the two level one mutants roared when their meal was disrupted.

Their arms extended, forming into blades that shone under the light.

Mu Qingqing and Lin Jiaojiao were stunned. They've seen a lot of ugly mutants before but this was the ugliest one yet. Moreover, these two mutants seemed to be attached as they were sharing a leg and gave them the appearance of a three legged creature with blades as hands.

Lilian Mo fired a round of bullets, immediately depleting her ammo. She stored the handguns away and formed fire balls in the air, sending them towards the level one joint mutants. Their roars pierced the air, a horrid sound that no one would like as it was enough to send a cold chill running down a person's spine.

Enraged by the damage they were receiving, their hands extended and rampaged, destroying the walls and floors.

Lilian Mo jumped away, evading the sharp blades. Lin Jiaojiao erected a barrier when a blade headed for her.

"No! Run away!" Lilian Mo shouted loudly but it was too late. The blade collided against Lin Jiaojiao's barrier. As a newly awakened ability user who was not even in the first level, her barrier shattered from the force of the blade.

Mu Qingqing ran and tackled her to the floor to avoid the attack but the blade managed to graze Mu Qingqing's shoulders, tearing through clothes and skin. Blood bloomed on the girl's clothes.

"Qingqing!" Mizuki Rei was enraged as he ran towards his fiancée. His face darkened when he saw the huge injury on the girl's shoulder, going down to her back.

"Big sister Qingqing!" Lin Jiaojiao paled at the sight of blood.

Lilian Mo's eyes widened. She ran towards them and stuffed two resins on Mizuki Rei's hand.

"Take the little girl outside the hospital. I'll deal with the mutant. Jiaojiao, follow them for now." She handed a roll of bandage and disinfectant to her.

"You must at least know a bit of first aid from your brother, right? Take this. Go and protect them."

Lin Jiaojiao accepted the items with a dumbfounded look.

Mizuki Rei immediately carried Mu Qingqing on his back.

"Jiaojiao, let's go!" He shouted. "Lilian Mo, you better kill that thing for what it did to Qingqing!"

"Okay." Lilian Mo nodded as she covered for them until they could escape.

With gritted teeth, she charged towards the level one mutant and nimbly avoided the blades, her arms erupting in fire as she aimed a fierce punch towards one of its head.

Flesh exploded and showered around her. The rancid smell of human corpses and mutant flesh sent her head pounding.

Lilian Mo jumped back, charging again to do the same to the other one. Using an extremely hot fire blade, she severed one of its arms before.

Once she was sure that her teammates managed to escape the building, Lilian Mo no longer held back.
