Chapter Seven

The day had finally come to be discharged from the hospital.

Midnight helped you with all the discharge paperwork before quickly leaving to get ready for quote 'a hot date'.

The R rated hero was kind enough to bring you a change of clothing: a simple shirt, jeans and shoes. After quickly changing in the hospital bathroom in your room, you walked out taking in the space you lived in for a whole month.

I felt weird to be leaving it.

You were alone now, the first time in your life there was no Shiro or Gray to back you up...you were riding solo taking the first steps in the dark with your freedom by your side.

With no real plan in mind, you said your goodbyes to Dr. Shuzenji who wasn't thrilled you were leaving the hospital, but she still wished you luck and joked saying didn't want to see you at her job again.

You wandered out of the hospital gazing up at the clear sky and bright sun, it felt like a new start to life but...you had nowhere to go. No idea how to use the benefits from this 'HPSC' for housing or funds. After sucking in a deep breath, you took your first step into the unknown, unsure of what was next around the corner. You were companionless, your heart stung feeling the empty space all around you.

"(y/n)!" You jumped quickly spinning on your heel, seeing All Might jogging towards you bathed in rays of gold.

"A-All Might?" You questioned furrowing your brows, his long legs closed the gap between you quickly.

"Sorry I'm late!" All Might carelessly waved, "Training went a little longer than expected today!"

"Why would you be late?" You pondered with a slight tilt of your head.

"You got discharged today!" All Might cheered throwing his arms up, "That's exciting!"

"I guess..." You muttered; it would be more exciting if you knew where your next meal was coming from...

"Come young (y/n)!" All Might waved, moving towards the street.

"Huh?" You blinked, but still followed a second later. You watched All Might hop into a sleek car the was parked next to the curb waiting.

"Come!" All Might laughingly repeated, you sighed unsure but did as told.

What else you got to do?

All Might and you sat in the back of the car while the driver drove, you kept glancing at All Might, waiting for him to fill you in on where you two were headed.

"Where are we going!?" You broke, dying to know.

"Wh-What?" All Might looked away from his phone awkwardly laughing. "What do you mean?"

"Where are we going?" You sternly repeated.

"Wha-Uh..." All Might scratched his chin, "...Midnight didn't speak with you?"

"Talk to me?" You tilted you head, "Talk to me about what?"

"She was at the hospital, right?"

"Yeah, she helped me with the paperwork to leave."

"And?" All Might said.

"And...uh...she talked about her 'hot date'..." You answered using air quotes.

"Ugh." All Might groaned rubbing his face with his large hand, glancing out the window you saw the driver was pulling up to a large house.

"Whoa." You breathed, pressing your hand against the glass. "Where are we?"

"Uh, well...my home." All Might awkwardly answered.

"Why?"

"Midnight was supposed to speak with you about where you were going to stay."

"Hm?"

"The HPSC or the Hero Public Safety Commission still hasn't finalized your paperwork. They are dragging their feet and until that paperwork gets completed, there isn't any housing available or funds for you to live off of. So, we teachers got together to see who you would be staying with. Midnight was supposed to make sure you would be...comfortable staying with me."

"Why wouldn't I be?" You wondered out loud, looking around the large yard.

"We-Well because...uh...well look we are here!" All Might open his door and quickly jump out. The driver and you locked eyes through the review mirror.

"He's being weird right?" You asked, the driver quickly nodded his head in agreement.

You stepped out of the car, slowly closing your eyes you felt the warm air flow freely across your face. No one was pushing you to run faster, yelling to hurry up and get the mission completed. No pressure pulling on your shoulders fearing for your friend's life...

"(y/n)!" All Might called with a wave of his large hand; the car had drove away. You quickly shook your head clear and met All Might on the porch of his large house. Once he opened the door, he removed his shoes and you followed the same suit. "I know it's not much-" The hero laughed, "-but it's home."

You gave him an annoyed glare; this house was insanely gorgeous. The only thing it was missing was an elevator to walk for you!

"Let's start with the tour-!" All Might's mighty voice echoed off the walls as you quietly followed him around the freaking mansion. You followed him room to room and just listened to him talk. The more he spoke, the deeper a frown was carved in your face.

You just met him a few weeks ago, why was he opening his home up to a complete stranger? No one was this kind, where were the strings you couldn't see?

"And this-!" All Might pulled your eyes off the floor, "-is your room! Now I know it doesn't look like much now, but after you heal up a little more, we can go shopping and fill it with things you like!"

"Why-?" Your voice grimly lit turning from gazing around the bedroom, "-why are you doing all of this?"

"Wha-What?" All Might nervously laughed, feeling himself begin to sweat.

"Are you doing all of this to keep tabs on me?" Turning to All Might, it all made sense. You were trained to be a killer by Shadow Jacks hand, there was no chance the heroes were going to just let you walk away.

"N-No!" All Might defensively raise his hands, "Of course not!"

"Then do you make it a habit to take in all the strays?" You accused.

"(y/n) ..." All Might slowly exhaled. "...honestly I don't know." All Might replied honestly, "I don't know why I wanted to sit with you while you were in the hospital or why-"

"It's called pity." You cut him off, not wanting to hear sweetened words filled with cavities.

"(y/n)-" All Might's tone unsmiled, "-I have watched countless children lose their entire families right before their eyes, never have I once wanted to sit by their bedside and help them eat food like I did for you."

"Then...why?"

"I don't know." All Might let out a small chuckled, "I don't know if it's because I saw pieces of myself in you that night, or something else but...I just know I do."

"I don't know what to say." You shook your head.

"You don't have to say anything." All Might ruffled your hair. "But there is something I need to discuss with you since you're going to be living here."

"Oh?" You turned following All Might to his living room.

"Once I expose my secret, you cannot tell anyone (y/n), do you promise?"

"Yes." You nodded, "Do you have like a 'special friend' or..."

"No!" All Might blushed, "N-Nothing like that...I was in a battle about five years ago-" All Might started, standing in front of you while you took a seat on the large sectional. "-I took damage that couldn't be healed-" All Might rose his shirt exposing deep purple scars on his side. "-ever since then I can't..." He went on to explain, in a puff of air you were blinded. You looked around waiting for it to settle, once cleared a skeleton of a man was left in All Might shoes.

The two of you stared at one another for a long second.

"That's..." You started, All Might braced for the panic attack and fountain of questions to come spewing. "...like the biggest catfish I have ever seen-"

"What!?" All Might flinched, "This doesn't freak you out!?"

"Why would it?" You wondered,

"I mean...well...most people who have seen my true form don't take it very well at first."

"Hm." You nodded, "That kind of sucks of them-" You replied, All Might's eyes widened as chest deflating of anxiety and stress. "-are we gonna be eating soon or...?" You looked around as if food could appear from thin air.

"I have ordered a pizza." All Might laughed, "There is one more thing, before we change topics for the night."

"Yeah?" You turned watching the true form of All Might to take a seat beside you. His clothes were so baggy now. "Seriously-" You say, "-if there was an award for biggest cat-"

"Don't-" All Might snapped, "-you finish that statement."

"Touchy-" You muttered.

"A few months ago, I chose a successor who I now train...to use my quirk that I have passed on to him." All Might slowly explained, knowing the thought of quirks being transferred was going to stun you.

"Yeah?" You turned from staring at the front door, waiting for it to ring signaling the pizza has arrived. "That's neat, so there is a 'special friend'."

"Don't call him that!" All Might lectured. "You're...You're not responding to this information like I expected you too."

"Did your special friend panic?" You wondered, "Was that one of the people-"

"He is not a special friend-" All Might pointed, "-you are using those 9/words wrong. Midoriya is just a student-"

"Ah so that's his name."

"I am being serious here (y/n) if there is anything you want to go into detail about, you can ask me anything-"

"I'm good." You replied, looking back to the door.

"Wha-!?" All Might was the one who was flabbergasted. "Most people are blown away when they discover my quirk can be transferred-" All Might muttered, feeling like his thunder had been stolen. "-don't get the wrong idea (y/n) not all quirks can be transferred like mine-"

"No, they can." You stated looking back over to him.

"N-No they-"

"How do you think I ended up how I am?" You questioned.

"I...I don't follow." All Might slowly spelled out.

"I'm a lab experiment All Might."
