Rui
The next morning, Rui dressed early.
Last night had been unpleasant, and while Zai hadn't set a specific time to "hear her opinion," it was part of Rui's routine to check in with her teacher, even if she was primarily responsible for her own training at this point.
Most of that was just Army life. Rui had taken on a lot of responsibilities and those required coordination. But here on the ship, Rui's only job was to stay out of the way of sailors and keep an eye on the defector, and the last was a duty she split with Major Hong.
Without her squad, Rui had little in the way of her own thoughts, and those thoughts were telling her that she was bored. That she was underappreciated. That she wasn't getting any stronger now that she didn't have someone to fight.
