General Okura

The chairman of Whitebrows, Glen, a man of average height and weight, with spiky brown hair and a cleft chin. He wore a dark costume with a strange white emblem in the middle.

The chairman of Rain Hawks, Oliver, a tall, muscular man with light blue spiky hair and azure eyes the latter including green lines under them. His clothing consisted of a ragged white jacket with an upturned collar.

The chairman of Swiftscars, Clara, a beautiful young woman with white skin, green eyes and the most distinctive feature, long beautiful crimson hair.

And now all these people were sitting around the table staring at the startled Kevin. Although the intensity emanating from the trio was oppressive, all of Kevin's thoughts were shifted towards the calmly sitting man in front.

The man had long black hair that he tied into a single topknot. His beard and mustache were unshaven, hiding the still visible scar near his eye. However, what caught Kevin's attention was a long katana, sheathed in a dark scabbard that gave the feeling of intense sharpness.

"Take a seat," Adam, standing at the man's side, pointed towards the empty seat right next to the crimson-haired lady.

'All of them are clearly powerhouses,' Kevin thought while sitting down, 'I wonder what my job would be if I could even sit at this table.'

Clara was about to introduce herself, but the talking Adam interrupted her thoughts.

"We'll go over the plan first" Adam tapped a button on the table as a screen actualized itself in the air, "Check this out"

Everyone focused their lamps towards the screen and even the dangerous man opened his dark eyes. A few wrinkles formed on Kevin's face after seeing the contents of the screen.

It was a map of the entire Forest of Death, the borders that the hunters managed to explore until this time. Yet something felt like an oversight.

"Our scientists have discovered an underground cavern beneath the crater that was created a few days ago," Adam exclaimed as he glanced around the table, "It has been detected that an incredible amount of chaotic energy is leaking from there."

"WHAT" Clara rose from the spot, drawing the eyes of everyone, "HOW BIG IS THE CAVE?"

"Enormous, its size should cover the entire city," Adam stated unwillingly.

This time everyone's eyes widened in shock. There had been an underground space that encompassed the whole city all this time, yet it was only discovered now?

What were the chances of such a phenomenon happening?

"If this crater wouldn't be created, the underground space would probably still not be discovered. The dense energy within it makes it almost undetectable, but most importantly, God's power doesn't work either," Adam said as he recalled the past, "The Vice President of Whitebrows, whose ability is X-ray eyes, couldn't see anything beneath the ground either. It's as if something is shielding this cave from the outside world"

With such a barrage of information, everyone fell silent while the furious Clara sat down herself.

"How many are we talking about?" asked Oliver with a serious expression.

"At least a thousand," Adam answered reluctantly, "Our mission is not to fight the beasts, but merely to inspect the cave. If the situation underground is disastrous, we will need the military's help," Adam looked to the calmly seated man in front of him, "However, I think with General Okura's help, everything should be fine."

"Hohoho, I was wondering who the person was that gave off such an intense aura," Glen spoke while straightening his back, "Thank you for your service"

"Thank you for your service," Oliver repeated with a slight bow.

"I am honored to be in the presence of the famous General Okura," Clara stated while giving her respects, as well.

Kevin stared at this scene in bewilderment, he didn't understand what was going on, only that this general had a good reputation, enough to make even the leaders of their respective guilds bow.

Not wanting to stand out, he repeated the actions of the others and paid his respects to the general.

Okura just chuckled a little before saying:

"No need for formalities, I'm on my vacation. As of now, we need to take care of this situation"

Everyone nodded, sitting back into their positions.

"However, I wonder what's this kid doing here," Okura glanced towards the calmly seated Kevin with a slight gleam in the eye.

"As I understand it, Mr. Adam wants me to use my god's power as a kamikaze," Kevin replied, interrupting Adam's speech.

"I knew you were a sharp kid" Adam exhaled with a freed expression, "It is indeed true, we will send one of your beasts into the hole and observe what happens next"

Kevin just smiled while nodding. His job wasn't that hard, definitely not worth 0.2 percent of the cores.

"What is your god power?" Okura said while bowing slightly forward.

Everyone's attention also shifted towards Kevin as he smiled wryly.

Three dark beasts rose behind his back, Wolf being slightly larger than the other two

Everyone, except Adam, stared at this scene in confusion.

Nobody even sensed any beasts around, it's like they just appeared out of nowhere.

"They are created from mana," Okura explained, eyeing the beasts again in slight disarray, "But why are these three humanoid wolves?"

'This general is indeed not a simple one' Kevin crossed both of his hands looking straight at the eyes of Okura, "I will not answer any questions regarding my power,"

Whether it's a general or some sort of deity, his secrets are his for a reason. If people would find out he has a system, things could get messy.

"HAHAHAHA, you're a funny kid" Okura laughed out loud placing his hand on the forehead, "Alright, Adam, you can continue"

"You really do have big balls" Glen chuckled, nodding approvingly, "To deny the question of the infamous one-man army, general Okura, even I wouldn't be so brave"

"Indeed," Oliver repeated with a smile.

Kevin ignored these two and continued to listen.

"Each guild can take two warriors from their guild" Adam pressed the button again, whereupon the screen disappeared "Only those you trust with your own lives, we can't leak any information that concerns the underground or the ruckus will take place in the city"

"We have 10 minutes before the department"

Everyone nodded with a serious expression while standing up from their seats and moving towards the elevator.

"Kid, stay here" a voice suddenly rang out from behind them, forcing Kevin to involuntarily stop from proceeding.

"'Good luck" Clara grinned before entering the elevator.

'This vixen' Kevin eyed the smiling Clara while turning around.

"Come here" Okura stood up from his seat, "Give me your hand"

'Hand?' Kevin wondered what this man was up to. He didn't really want to follow Okura's words, however, it didn't seem like a request. Rather, it was a command that Kevin couldn't refuse with his current strength.

Kevin reached out his hand to the man as the latter gripped it with all his might.

Kevin felt an immense pain going through his body as if getting stung by an infinite number of bees from every side. His eyes rolled backward while his expression turned pale.

Okura's appearance wasn't the best either, his long hair stood up as if getting electrized while the ground beneath him slowly began to crack.

"What the hell is happening?" Adam murmured, staring at the scene in horror. He tried to close the distance, but an immense shock wave, forming around the duo forced him back.

Kevin slowly but steadily felt his consciousness dimming while Okura coughed up some blood.

Finally, Okura dropped Kevin's hand as they both fell to the ground, exhausted.

"What just happened?" wondered Kevin as he achingly regained the senses of his tentacles.

For some reason, Kevin felt more energized ... as if his mana reservoir had increased?

'Did he force a breakthrough for me?' Kevin thought while moving his hands forward to help Okura stand up.

Okura's condition was definitely worse than Kevin's. Crimson blood covered his entire chin, while sweat slowly dripped from his face onto the ground.

However, before he could help the general, Adam blocked the way and pointed to the elevator. Kevin, though still confused, understood that it was better to leave this place.

Okura is a general of an army, it should be all right.

Kevin gave the general another look before leaving.

"What the hell happened?" Adam yelled as he took out a handkerchief to wipe the blood from Okura's face.

"None of your business," Okura huffed with visible pain on his face, "I'll be down in ten minutes, leave."

Adam wanted to retort something, but Okura's bloody eyes convinced him he wasn't in the best of moods. Adam immediately disappeared, still filled with rather complicated emotions. He wondered what was causing such a reaction between Okura and Kevin?

*Cough*

Blood poured from Okura's mouth, causing him to fall back into a sitting position.

The blood didn't seem to bother him much though, as he pulled a phone out of his pocket and dialed a number.

"Pops?" Okura exhaled deeply.

"I wasn't strong enough to destroy it"

"Only one realm"

"It's only possible to lift the curse with an artifact."

"Kevin has awakened a god's power"
